I had my three month check-in appointment with the doc and nutritionist this week. I saw another doc before my surgeon came in and she was incredibly helpful! Answered tons of questions, gave me tons of information and I felt good after it. The nutritionist was also incredibly helpful.

I haven't seen the scale move really at all in the last month, so that was a concern--what was I doing wrong? The doc and the nutritionist both told me to increase my vegetable intake. Not easy to do when a meal consists of 1/2 a cup of food! Th emoticon e nut. says I can increase to 3/4 cup of food for a meal, which is great. Now half should be protein and the other half vegetable. I can do that. It does mean eating more mini-meals as she wants me to increase my protein intake, too. But I can do that.

Today I made my first homemade guacamole. I wanted something kinda carefree for fun and guac has the added benefit of having some decent fiber. Here's the one I made: recipes.sparkpeo

It was pretty tasty when I added some extra salt and a smidge of chili powder. Love that it calls for jalapenos, too.

I am off food restrictions, so I'm planning some more exploratory menus, too.

Of course, I still feel like I can't work. Mornings are the toughest. It takes about two hours for me to be able to get out of bed, but my later mornings and early afternoons are reasonably good. I had an appt with my neuro Tuesday and he advises that I stop working. Surprise? No. I have to call tomorrow to make sure he gets the note emailed to me so I can arrange going on leave of absence. It's a lot to juggle, but I know it's getting better soon.
