What a few months it has been! I had expected to get right into working out regularly when I stopped working, but that wasn't to be. My husband had a heart cath and we found he had three major artierial blockages at 85%, 95%, and 100%! He was scheduled and then underwent a double bypass surgery and I've been his nurse and helper since then. He started back at work this week and his recovery is going very well. He's very sore, but he's powering through and I'm proud of him. But now I have to get back on track.
We spent his last week alone: the kids went to my mom's for spring break and we went out for movies, long walks, hikes, and general fun. he likes to walk two miles, so he can totally kick my rear end in the exercise department! But now he's got me into it, this week I'm continuing the two-mile walk a few times a week. So I'm trying to do the 2M walk three times a week and do weights or strength training the other three days. I give myself permission to do very little cardio on my strength days so I won't overdo it.
The good news is that the scale finally started moving down again last week as we started working out. It's not speeding, but it's *moving* and I'm thrilled!
Today my right knee started screaming at about 1.5 miles, but I was determined to finish. It feels like I might have to start looking into that lateral release knee surgery soon. Doc recommended it a few years ago, but I've been postponing. For now I'm going to look into a really good brace and see if that'll help. I just don't want to cripple myself while my husband is under so much pressure.
I hope y'all have a blessed day. Keep up your great work! I'm off to get some ice and a brace. :)
