Muscle gain and fat loss

Today's article in the daily coaching was about gaining muscle. Basically it said that in order to gain muscle mass, you need to eat at least your maintenance calories. You don't gain muscle when there's a deficit. Strength training while you're losing weight helps keep you from losing muscle.
Muscle gain is hard to do, especially for women. And gaining muscle while losing weight doesn't seem likely. So weight gain from exercise is probably water, not muscle. And by the way, a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat.
