Day 171 - Waist Circumference

Thursday, July 12, 2018

Not a whole lot going on lately. However, I discovered a couple odd things today. First, I've been doing my waist circumference measurements wrong. I've not be measuring at the smallest point of my waist. Also, my waist to hip ratio is actually in the healthy/recommended range. Very interesting (particularly because I've very far from a healthy range BMI).

This all started when I was reading some stuff online about size charts. I online shop a lot. They often have "size guides" when shopping. These guides have waist, hip, and bust measurements. Once I started actually measuring my body I discovered something new: These numbers are completely wrong!!!! I looked a several size charts at different stores where I have actual recently purchased clothing from. I wear a size 16 comfortably. I can wear a size 18 a little loose and be ok. The size charts I looked at all put me at a size 22 or 24! A size 20 is too loose for me to even wear. Where are these insane size charts coming from?
