As for our Kitty ~ Spirit, it was not a happy ending !!! We went back by the campground several times after it closed, no sign of Spirit. We put posters out, knocked on doors, drove & walked all over the propertys around the campground. Then Nov. 14, we had to go all the way to Lima, Ohio to pick up a Secretary's desk my Godmother had left me, it's over 4 hrs. drive one way for us. We got home a little after 8 PM. It had poured down rain most of the way home. There was a message from the campground owner, they think they found our Kitty. I called her right away ! She told me her DH & one of the boys had found her laying on the ground in front of one of the campers. They weren't sure if she had collars on or not. She always had a pink fancy collar with a bell & a flea collar on. She was strickley a house cat. The husband had offered to burry her, but my DH said no, we will bury her.. He didn't trust them, he was afraid they'd throw her in the lake or dumpster. OMG !!! I told her we'd be there first thing in the AM. It was still pouring down rain, and we were 1/5both exhausted.
We went to bed after quick showers. We got up after 6 AM, phone rang shortly after, she said the cat was dead. OMG We grabbed our coats & umbrellas, went to the car & to the campground (about 1 1/4 hr. away) and it was still pouring down heavey rain. I was a mess all the way up ! I kept praying it wasn't her, but my gut told me different ! Finally get there, she's laying under an oak tree, on the bare ground. raining like a banshee, As soon as I saw her, I knew it was her, even with just the flee collar on ! I gasped, then cried. DH picked her up, put her in a box with a towel we had brought. We had talked last night about burrinig her at the campground, he asked if I wanted to take her home, yes, we'll bury her there. It was one of the worst car rides I've ever had !!! It was still pouring down when we backed in our drive, which we always do. DH stopped, we just sat a few min., the rain quit, we got out, he dug a hole in our flower bad at the back deck. We burried her there. She's home, where she belongs !!!
We still miss her so much ! She was such a loving, affectionate cat, made us laugh so much ! It's going to be hard with out her, especially for DH !!! But we'll be OK !
We did have a little Memorial for her with our son, dil, & 2 grand daughters ~Olivia & Harlow.
They were both so cute !
I'll write an update for DH soon. I gotta' go get supper made.
KEEP SPARKLING !!!
Love ya', Flutterfli
