2019 5% Winter Challenge

Thursday, December 06, 2018

Hurricane Harvey made a direct hit on our little southern Texas town in August, 2017, I found out I had lung cancer in November, 2017 and 3 days later my husband had a massive heart attack. I have completed surgery, chemo and radiation. My husband is working through his health issues. We have had help from God, friends, and family. I am now ready to join a challenge and participate. The 2019 5% challenge starts in January.

EXERCISE GOAL- 20 minutes a day, minimum
My primary exercise is through walking the dog and line dancing. I need to add strength training. emoticon emoticon emoticon

So happy to see you rejoin the 5% challenge. Have to agree with 'Susanslife' not to overdo it. Am thrilled that your daughter and family are joining you and Charlie for Christmas. By the way, how is Charlie doing?
I want to know all about your grandsons, when they come, or have gone again. You won't have much time while they are visiting. I bet, they both have grown quite a bit since you saw them. I hope you will post some pictures of them.
Continue to get your strength back. You are doing incredibly well, considering what you have gone through.

20 minutes a day is a great goal -- you were at 10 minutes per day less than a month ago, as I recall. Consistency and increasing slowly is the moral of the hare and the tortoise fable which I keep thinking of, so don't let team leaders and teammates encourage you to do too much on the challenge. You are the expert on what is good for you, so take pride in seeing how much you can accomplish! Good health is SOOO valuable!
