Jan 15, 2018 I made my usual resolutins for the New Year, with the usual assumption that I would not meet them. But then one day last week I decided to do some chair exercising (because my DH was downstairs, and I was upstairs and did not want to shake the house). And I did those chair exercises right in front of the mirror, dressed in a tight-fitting t-shirt and stretchy pants - the kind of clothing that shows every roll of fat, and show it they did! I was so disgusted with what I saw in the mirror that I felt I had had my first REAL look at myself in a long time, and it was not a pretty sight!! And I realized then and there that if this shape that i have allowed myself to become is to change, it had to begin that very day.
Knowing myself as I do, I knew that if I tried to change everything all at once I would give up quickly, so I decided to do what I have seen written many times on this SP site, that being to form 1-2 new healthy habits in my life until well-established. First I determined that I will not eat when I am not hungry, and when I do eat, it will be as small of a portion as meets my needs. Secondly, I will drink at least 64 ounces of water / day.
I weigh myself once a day, in the morning after I have done a bit of stretching. To this point since that dreadful day in front of the mirror, I have lost 4 lbs. That's nothing to brag about, I know, but for ME it actually is. It is the most I have lost in that amount of time since I can't remember when!! I have stay under my calorie allowance every day, and have drank my water every day as well. The results to me are already showing themselves, not yet in the mirror, but my acid reflux has greatly diminished, I'm not retaining [as much] fluid as I had been, and I'm not craving food nearly as much. I've been taking some supplements as well, and I think they are attributing to more energy. And small as that weight loss has been, my knees are already feeling better too. Pleasant surprises!!
Anyway, so far, so good. For the first time in a long time, I have hopes of making some real changes. I'm appreciative of some special people on my teams, they are my best cheerleaders: Julia and Martha on Walk Away the Pounds, and Christine, Lisa, and Paula on Fit and Organized instantly come to mind. They encourage me with their words, and by their example. I wouldn't be here fighting on if it were not for them!!
