I am following up with the results from last week's colonoscopy. I had 3 polyps removed of which were "adenomatous polyps with advanced features (large in size, certain microscopic features)." They are benign but precancerous. I need to repeat the procedure in 3 years. I cannot tell from these results if this is good news or bad. Obviously, the good news is that the polyps are benign, however the bad news is they are "precancerous." Here's my real problem with this result: My last procedure was done TWO years ago. Now, this one says I can come back in THREE years. Is it dangerous to wait an additional year for the polyps to grow larger in that time? I don't understand. I think I need further consultation about these results. Trust me, I am thrilled that I have an extra year before having to go through the awful prep again, but it doesn't make sense to me why they are giving me an extra year if they are still finding polyps.

I know...the prep is the worst part. When I had my baseline colonoscopy a few years ago, I told them they better improve the prep process before I have to come back. Doesn't sound like that's happened yet. How sad.

Discuss with your primary doctor, sounds like a logical expectation. You are correct the point is prevention. Stay strong and persistant with you logical follow-up request.
