Living life while distracted

Friday, August 02, 2019

A favorite account of mine from the Old Testament is about doing what we know is right to do. It involves two kingdoms, two altars, two prophets, a donkey and a lion. It is found in 1Kings 13. From reading the account we can draw several conclusions that are most needful to grasp if we are to be successful in our journey in this life.

It is always best to avoid paying attention to folks who give you advice or a contradicting message about something that has already made plain to you what is up.

Sometimes there are dire consequences when we do not follow up, no matter how well-meaning we are or even if we accomplished what we needed to in the first part of our journey.

I've had lots of well-meaning folks give me advice, mainly Not Asked For but nonetheless. If you know you need to do something regarding relationships, your health, your eating habits, your medications, then please carefully weigh any contraindicating advice even from qualified people.

We all know that Drunk driving is horrible. I have felt for a long time we need to have a new blanket law entitled Driving While Distracted. It would cover alcohol, medications, lack of sleep, arguing in the front seat, making calls, yelling at the kids in the back, etc. Distracted is as distracted does.

Living life while distracted is a crime as well, an accident waiting to happen that will impact other people in ways you cannot even guess at. Please live intentionally.

Live life to the full, pay full attention and be willing to learn, follow through on your commitments, and take joy in knowing that you are loved.
