It's Never Dull Around Here

Hi everyone!
Guess what? I had to have another surgery on my femur!
The first surgery was successful in some ways, but not a success in the most important way. My fracture itself never healed, and the dr thinks it was because the size of the nail (the rod that goes from knee to hip) was too small. It was a size 10. There was too much wiggle room for the fracture to heal.
So on July 18th, I went into surgery. They removed all of the old hardware, reamed out my femur bone to make it slightly larger, created a bone graft from that, plus artificial bone stem cells, and cadaver bone cells. Packed my fracture, inserted a new nail, size 13, then 3 screws down by my knee, and 2 huge screws up in my hip.
I developed anemia while in hospital, and had to have 3 transfusions. Was in hospital for a week, and then transferred to inpatient rehab for a week. It was the same place I went to before, so there was a lot of "what are you doing back here?" and "don't I know you??" A very pleasant surprise happened one day when a new aide came and she kept looking at me and I at her, and then she asked me if I used to be a teacher. I told her I did, and she then told me that I was her Kindergarten teacher!! That was a wonderful day!!
I came home and started out patient physical therapy, which is going really well. Love the therapist and the aides, and they make me WORK! In a good way. My incisions are healing well. I'm getting out and about, but not too much too soon. Pacing myself.
Doing a lot of reading, knitting, and crafting. My craft show is 2 months away, so I'm sort of in panic mode. What needs to be done, what can I do, and what can pass for this year sort of thing. Notice all of those things allow me to sit down lol.
Keeping my sense of humor. What good does it do to fret over things you have absolutely no control over? Breathe and move on.
Hope all of the Sparkers in Dorian's way are getting ready for it or evacuating if necessary. My prayers are with you all.
Keep Sparking!
