A LOT has changed in 8 years...

September 29 is a big date for me. 8 years ago I had weight loss surgery (lap band). I was hoping for the best, but little did I know it would even turn out better! Besides over 110 pounds of lost weight, I discovered running!
Fast forward to today. My third time running the Dogfish Dash in Milton DE (it’s an 8K race) and there I was cruising into my 2nd best finish! And then it hit me: 8 years ago I would have NEVER even thought of doing something like this, let alone even being ABLE to do it (at least not without risking a heart attack or stroke!).
In the past 8 years I’ve run a bunch of races, from 1 mile speed runs all the way to a full marathon! This year my challenge is a run streak. Today I have run 126 consecutive days of at least 1 mile, and have no plans to end the streak anytime soon!
Yes I used medical science to get to where I am today. I’m not bashful about it. My youngest daughter has dropped over 100 pounds recently the old fashion way — hard work! So proud of her. But at the end of the day we are healthier and happier, and very likely added years to our lives!
But I’m celebrating today. And looking to run MANY more races! 🏃
