It's been so long!

Wednesday, December 11, 2019

Lot's of stuff has happen and I won't bore you with most of it. I've been keeping busy going to the gym four times a week. I have a great workout partner! She has lost over 100 lbs and is a great motivation for me. I have lost 25 lbs this year and feel so much better.

I have been doing a lot of biking.

I did a 40 mile ride with my workout partner on the local Rail-to-Trail Lebanon to Elizabethtown and back. I then did a 47-mile ride with DH on our favorite Rail-to-Trail Pine Creek. These two rides were good training for the two 4-day rides which were completely supported (meaning they had a guide, a sweep, rest areas set up with snacks, over night accommodations already set up, and a van to give you a ride should you find you no longer wanted to be on a bike). On the first ride we biked from Glen Summit, PA, (which is just north of Jim Thorpe, PA) to just outside Ft. Washington, PA. I only rode three of the four days. It was raining and just plain cold outside. I still road about 111 miles in three days which is a new PR for me. The second 4-day supported ride began in Savannah, GA, and we road around the island of the "Golden Coast" of GA. It was beautiful. It was unlike the other ride in the fact that this ride was a road ride while the other was all on a Rail-to-Trail - which is much safer! I managed to ride all four days completing about 109 miles. I did not ride across all the HUGE bridges because I love my knees and I have nothing to prove to anyone emoticon

DH and I did the usual trip to Naples, FL, for Thanksgiving with his mother except this time we packed out bike with us. We took the auto train down and drove over to Tarpon Springs, FL, on the west coast. Along the way we stopped and rode along the James Van Fleet trail. Wonderful!!! It's about 25 feet wide, paved and as flat as a pancake. It was just a pleasure to ride. There are legal post speed limit signs of 20 miles per hour along it because it would be so easy to ride must faster than that speed. DH and I witnessed a "speeder" during our ride. WHOOSH!!! He flew by us! We spent the night in Tarpon Springs enjoying an authentic Greek meal at a local restaurant that we go to each time we visit. The next day we did a few miles on the local trail there. Again, flat, paved, and absolutely excellent to ride! While we were in Naples we did get a few rides in and really enjoyed the scenery. I managed to get another 84 miles in during a vacation.

It is now December. Baby, it's cold outside! I miss Florida already. We will stay home for the holiday. The only party we have set up is a small get together for the Army/Navy game this Saturday. GO ARMY! A friend of mine is retired from the Navy but we can't all be perfect emoticon

I have kept a pretty faithful tract of my steps this year and will be sharing the results at the end of the year. I think I will beat last years total.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Should you celebrate something other than those - I sincerely hope that yours is happy also! emoticon

Until later...... emoticon
