Exercise Prescription

Saturday, January 18, 2020

I had a great 'weekly message' from Linda Spangle. She's doing an on-line one-year programme based on her books - 100 Days of Weight Loss and 100 MORE Days of Weight Loss - which I am following. It's called Elevate Your Success. Here's the link if you're curious:-

Anyway, today's message was about the important of regular exercise. She tells a story about a woman who is given a prescription for exercise by her doctor. 30 mins a day moving. And a tough message that she won't get better if she doesn't do it.

So, given that yesterday I was inspired to join the gym with the aim of doing MORE exercise, I got out my diary and put a 30 min exercise slot in for every day of the week.

Saturday: indoor walking DVD - done
Sunday: hooping and yoga
Monday: Walk
Tuesday: run
Wednesday: yoga
Thursday: swim
Friday: cycling
Saturday: walk
Sunday: run
Monday: rebounder

The gym membership starts 31st January (in case you're wondering why I'm not going to the gym!)

At the gym there are quite a lot of people there under doctor's orders I think. The Royal College of General Practitioners is encouraging practices to become 'parkrun practices' too. I don't always get to parkrun as it's a Saturday morning and I'm often working at that time of day. But I go when I can.
