Working On My Novel
Wednesday, February 12, 2020
I am working on the outline for my novel tonight. It is going really well. I think I have a really good story here and it is definitely a literary fiction novel this time. I have dabbled in a lot of areas but I do especially like writing literary fiction. The science fiction story I wrote was commercial fiction but literary fiction is a pet project of mine. Even though it's less popular than commercial fiction, I still really enjoy the depth and social consciousness that goes along with writing literary fiction. I wrote women's fiction for a while but that genre just did not really suit me as well. I am not sure yet, though, which genre I want to stick with when it comes to what kind of author I want to be. I know when I publish my books, I will only be able to publish in one genre, so I need to figure out what genre I really want to write in. So right now I'm trying out a little bit of everything to see where I really fit in. The novel I am working on right now has definitely captured my interest. I think it is a book I would enjoy reading if I were to see it on a shelf somewhere. And I think it definitely has a lot of layers. I'm working as hard as I can on this book because it has to be something that agents just can't pass up. I've written so many books now that I'm really starting to get the feel for what is publishable and what isn't. So one of these times I'm going to hit the mark. At any rate, I'll keep on writing. I want to work on my outline as much as possible tonight because I really want to get started actually writing this book. I want to start submitting to agents as soon as possible. So that's going to take up the majority of my time for the next few months.
