Finished a will today

Monday, February 17, 2020

One of my 4th grade teachers goes to the same church I attend and I have written her will and about 4 revisions over the last 5 years. Today she signed a new will. At 98 she is out living many of her beneficiaries and having out lived her sister and not having any children her generosity is directed to various younger friends. If I live to probate her will it will be my second estate to drop a windfall on an unsuspecting beneficiary.

Had a living trust, including will drawn up a couple of years ago. One of my employee benefits is a legal plan. Made it so much more affordable.

Still to do is make the final arrangements. My husband is reluctant to discuss but doing so now will lock down the cost, which just seems to escalate.

My parents have discussed with us (children and grandchildren) the disposition of their estate. Since my mom has since passed dad has updated his will to reflect the reality of the situation.

That is kind of awesome. I hesitate to admit that the last time I wrote a will my daughter was 10.Though I did write my first will much younger than most (I was in the air force ) The JAG was surprised I did not leave anything to family ,I left my estate to a friend for the express purpose of looking after my dog ,then he could have whatever was left after the dogs death,I said My Mum is too old to look after my dog and by the time the dog dies she will be dead anyways. .That was the first time I heard anyone say "Alrighty then "

That must be so satisfactory to surprise a recipient. emoticon

that is something so many just neglect to do at all. Indeed my Mom had that same issue, her plans changed as the years passed and her friends and family dropped out.
I am still trying to decided who to have probate my will, I want an outside party so none of my family will feel that one had an advantage over the other. They are very competative and will probably be so when it comes time to deal with my final wishes! Gotta love having a pack of boys!
    Nite's the wife? & you?
