February 18, 2020 THE TRUTH WILL SET US FREE
What do these things have in common? Media. News articles. Posts on the Internet. They all fall into the category of things that may not be true. It is so hard to know what the truth is nowadays. We hear so many things – some which seem ridiculous but are true and some that sound possible but they aren’t true. How can we know the truth? This world is not always trustworthy which means we can’t put our trust in it. Trusting in anything or anyone other than God will be destructive. That is why God tells us to trust in His word as truth and know that His truth will set us free!
John 8:31-32 “Jesus said to the people who believed in him, ‘You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’” (NLT)
1. Write what you do to remember God’s truth.
2. List how God’s truth can help you.
3. Know this world is full of deceit and deception.
4. Only trust in God for all you need.
Dear Lord, we know You tell us in Hebrews 4:12 that Your word “is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword.” We know Your word is truth and it is all we need to help us in anything we do. We realize this world will lead us down a wrong path if we chose to believe what it tells us. Help us to only trust in You and Your word for direction, strength and insight. We know Your word has all we need. Thank You for Your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
In all we do we need God’s truth that will help us to do what He calls us to do.
2 Timothy 2:15 “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.” (NLT)
We are to continue to stand firm in God’s truth knowing it is all we need.
Colossians 1:23 “But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it.” (NLT)
We are to put on the belt of truth so we can stand firm when we are tempted or when we are challenged.
Ephesians 6:14a “Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth” (NLT)
