National Day of Unplugging
Friday, March 13, 2020
This is our assignment for the Aspire and Inspire sparkteam: The first Friday in March is National Day of Unplugging. This holiday consists of a 24-hour period from sundown to sundown, to unplug, unwind, relax and do things other than using today’s technology, electronics, and social media. Could you take a break from technology for a day? What would you do?
I think it might be nice to have a day of unplugging. I spend a lot of time on my computer, so it would be a change. Some of the things I would do would be exercise, read, crafts, puzzles (jigsaw, crossword, etc.), and nap. I would also spend time with my family, maybe talking, eating, and playing games. There are a lot of options when you really think about it.
I looked up the website for the National Day of Unplugging, and they said, “We increasingly miss out on the important moments of our lives as we pass the hours with our noses buried in our devices.” This is a sad state of affairs, and I think we could all benefit from spending some time unplugged.
