Coronavirus Thoughts And Current Check IN

Wednesday, March 18, 2020

Hey everyone :)

I need to really make time in the morning for SP. I always have good intentions on posting but then by the time evening comes up I am doing other things.

Ugh this coronavirus has been a pain in the butt for so many. I am learning how to stay positive. I am an introvert anyway so staying in is what I live for LOL. It is different though when you want to versus being told you need too. But I have my internet, my books, my music, and my family and friends. We will get through this together as human beings and come out stronger. If one thing this virus is (or should be) teaching is that we are in this together.

The behavior lately of some of the people is discouraging. People threatening to stab someone over toilet paper. It is almost comical, they really need to learn survival skills. And then when people like me who has chronic illness or the elderly go there is nothing left.

How have all of you been coping with this new sense of normal?

emoticon I am used to living isolated as we live 100 miles from the city and 11 miles from our small town. Adjusting to "life in" has not been hard. We have plenty of food and think we are good until this ends. I too am comprimised with COPD and age. Cancelled my cleaning lady until further notice, my granddaughter says I am not allowed past our gate at the edge of our property (it is a mile away). We did do a run for supplies yesterday being very careful. Costco is wonderful wiping down carts and counters. We were very careful carrying wipes with us. We figure that is our last trip until this is over. Nor sure if we are getting the grandchildren yet. We should know this weekend. Everyone in stores yesterday were polite. Some items were limited to 1 per customer. That's okay. The shelves are getting restocked so noone should panic. Our little grocery store 45 miles away is allowing seniors to call orders in and will do curbside delivery. reach out to your family and friends. emoticon

I get 2/3 of my food monthly from food pantries. Now instead of picking out what you want, in a crowd, one of them is giving out 2-3 boxes per person in a drive through situation. You will eat what you get, even if you don't like it! I only have 9 rolls of toilet paper for the rest of the month--not sure where I will be getting some anytime soon, as stores are all sold out.

Going shopping early in the morning when the stores have the time set for seniors. Started spring cleaning so not feeling too bad about staying close to home. We live in a rural area and I can go for an hour walk in the morning along ATV trails

One would 'think' we as 'human beings' (?) are in this together--therefore courteous and caring for others---BUT I understand in our city, the stores are "price gouging' and raising the cost WAY up on TP and more; totally taking advantage --- I find this appalling and disgusting to say the least! My SIL went to four stores the other day as their household was down to two rolls of paper----the woman who got there a minute or two before her loaded her cart to overflowing with big packs of TP---And her remark was "Too bad!" …. Not sure which is worse: the virus or the state of FEAR many are in right now. Appalling!
