And the beat goes on . . . . .

Friday, March 20, 2020

Today I woke up earlier than I have been waking the rest of this week. I was even able to get some serious work done, not just struggling to do the minimum necessary. I spent most of the afternoon on my work computer and was able to concentrate. The congestion isn't completely gone but on day 5 of the meds, I am definitely out of the woods.

I had the coolest surprise last night when my stepdaughter and her girls called me on a KIDS video chat - I was surprised and not at my best. Since they live in California and I live in West Virginia,(3 hour time difference so the after dinner call caught me in bed, with my dentures out for the night and looking a bit scary like some kind of witch. I hope I didn't scare them. I plan to send their mom a note apologizing for being so out of it - I did mention I have bronchitis but I HOPE they will call me back soon.

Also got a message from my sister in law saying that we should call and chat as they are self-isolating and so am I. My son Ed does the shopping and so I haven't been out of the house since I hit the doctor's office on Monday. Glad I went when I did because today is the first day since last Friday that I have felt almost human. I have been so lucky that I haven't had to go into work. I haven't been notified that my knee surgery will be canceled but unless there is some kind of miracle, I don't believe that knee replacement is one of those things that can't wait and I don't want to battle Covid-19 or any other risks involved in surgery without PPEs for my caretakers. I'm okay with it though. I will wait and I can read books, play on the Kindle or computer for just about forever.

Be grateful for what you have and remember there are those who don't have a house to "shelter in place", those who have no food, and those who are actually dealing with symptoms, loved one's deaths, etc. After all, how often do we get given a time to SLOW down and really spend time with our loved ones?

Be blessed and a blessing to those who need you. Remember if you must go out to be kind and considerate to those who serve you. Say a little prayer for the forgotten heroes who are out there in the midst of the chaos - truck drivers, delivery people, nurses, custodians, orderlies, doctors, secretaries, cooks, and so many others.
