Awesome! I took Dr. VanWingen's advice to heart. I went for groceries today for the first time in 3 weeks. When I got home, I had a "sterile" area and cleaned everything that came of the bags. I also took two large coolers. They are much easier to unpack and then bleached the insides when I finished. I hadn't read about the shoes, but I had read about the clothes. Everything comes into the house through the laundry room, so the washer and dryer made the perfect area to disinfect and stack what was cleaned. My shoes went into the utility sink and the bottoms were sprayed with disinfectant and then carefully bleached.
When I was totally finished, everything was sprayed with disinfectant and wiped down with antibacterial wipes. The throw rug was washed in hot water, the floor cleaned with the steam mop. I took a shower and shampooed my hair. I sure hope I got all the little critters. Ugh!! I am a true germaphobe. Maybe it was all a waste of my time, but I felt a bit better when I was done.
Thanks for sharing the information. It would be nice if everyone would follow it. Maybe then this nightmare would be ended sooner than later. Stay safe. Be well. Be sure to wash, wash, wash those hands. 58 days ago
We are all learning a lot... unfortunately some "experts" contradict other "experts". I figure it's better to be safe than sorry, and we are worth the extra time it takes to clean things carefully and then scrub my hands.
