This is our assignment for the Aspire and Inspire sparkteam: Stress Awareness Month is an annual designation observed in April. Currently we are all under stress. What can you do to relieve stress?
Here are some ideas for ways you can reduce stress:
Get enough sleep at night. Take a nap if needed.
Exercise. You can go outside or exercise at home. Do cardio, strength training, or yoga. For home exercises you can use SparkPeople resources or YouTube videos. Some of my favorites are Yoga with Adrienne, Jessica Smith, Fitness Blender, and Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away the Pounds.
Pray or meditate.
Write in a journal. Express your feelings.
Clean or organize your home so that you are in a nice, calm environment.
Limit your exposure to the news. Too much news can be very stressful.
Catch up on books, movies, TV shows, or podcasts. Get absorbed in a story.
Do arts or crafts. Try adult coloring pages, painting, needle crafts, calligraphy, etc.
Learn something new. This can be a good distraction. The internet, especially YouTube, can be a great resource for learning a new skill.
Enjoy some music. Sing, play an instrument, or listen to your favorite artists.
Play games or work puzzles.
Soak in a hot bath. Try a relaxing beauty treatment.
Reach out to others. Even when staying at home, you can text, email, call, Zoom, etc.
