week 118 of therapy

Sunday, May 17, 2020

This week in therapy we discussed my 2nd rejection in the bariatric program now and how I feel about it. Also the fact that I have cellulitis now and I have to be on an antibiotic called keflex in order to get rid of it. I also discussed the fact that I was working on my step work. I also discussed with her the fact that my primary wanted to see me to check up on my legs as well. So I made an appointment with him for Thursday. Thursday I saw the nurse practitioner and she and I discussed my legs and she measured them and told me that I have lymphedema and would be a candidate for the lymphedema clinic.Today I fell again after gaining a lot more weight and it took a lot more time for me to get up off of the floor. I am completely humbled by this example and I realize I need to change things now!

Jenny it sounds like you had a good therapy session - so sorry about the rejection from the bariatric program and now to have cellulitis. I have it and it is not nice. My legs swell a lot so I have been fitted with compression socks to help with the swelling - and yesterday the cellulitis flared up again so am needing to contact my doctor on Tuesday - he doesn't do visits now because of the covid-19 but does a virtual call but am thinking he will prescribe another round of meds to help with the inflation. I can understand how you feel with all of this as I have had cellulitis now for about 6 years and my legs have looked terrible since - all read and sore all the time - just have to be extra careful in keeping them clean and keeping the legs elevated as often as possible for the swelling.

Sorry to read that you fell again - that is a horrible experience as it happened to me and I needed to have the paramedics and firemen come to pick me up - I was at 270 at that time and was so humbled that I could not get up on my own. So I am terrified that i will fall again so I now walk with a walker and am extra cautious.

You can do it though - you are a strong young woman - you have the Lord on your side - and with Him as your counselor / cheerleader you can figure out a healthy eating plan and will be able to stick to it because He will give you the strength to follow it daily.

Here are 2 verses of Scripture that have really helped me a lot the last couple of months

    2 Timothy 1:7
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self control

    Philippians 4:6
do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

    Praying for you
