May 25, 2020 BE HELPED
Today we remember those who helped our country by fighting for our rights in America. This help was done because it was the right thing to do. There was a need and people stepped up to help. We have people working the front lines right now battling a virus that has hurt and killed so many. There are people who will do anything to help others no matter the cost. We need to take a moment to thank God for these brave heroes who are willing to die to save others.
Some are quick to offer help. Others are not. In fact, many of us aren’t even very receptive to help. We may feel we can solve things on our own. We may feel too proud to ask for help. We may feel embarrassed about our situation. However, many of us could really use help. Just as we are quick to offer help to others, we should be quick to seek and receive help.
Our first request should be to ask God for help. No one can help us like God can. He tells us in His word He wants to help us. Since He created us and has given us all we need, it just makes sense we go to Him first for help. We shouldn’t be too proud or too embarrassed. God knows what we need before we even ask. He wants us to ask Him, rely on Him and accept the help He wants to provide.
Hebrews 4:16 “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (NLT)
1. Write where you need help the most.
2. List what things you have done to find help.
3. Know God wants to help you.
4. Go to God in prayer and seek His help.
Dear Lord, thank You for all You do for us. We know we sometimes get too proud about asking for help. We think we can do things on our own. We try to forget about our problems and hope they will go away. However, You know exactly what help we need. We come to You for guidance and direction. We pray You will guide us, give us clarity about what we need and give us peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
When someone wants to help us, we need to accept it and remember their help is a blessing from God.
Acts 20:35 “And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (NLT)
When we remember God’s mighty power and works, we will remember how great and kind He is and how He wants to help us.
Psalm 77:11-12 “But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.” (NLT)
All help comes from God who is our Creator, our Lord and our Redeemer.
Psalm 124:8 “Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” (NLT)
