Today is day 25! Clean eating, lots of water, running, push ups, showing up and logging my food and movement every day. But. I've gained both weight and inches. Here is the message I just sent my doctor. If anyone has advice I am eager to consider it!
I need some advice. When I saw Dr. Hahn in April my cholesterol was higher than ever before and my weight was up as well. After months of inactivity I took this as a wake up call to get back on running and clean eating.
So today is day 25 of measuring and logging everything I eat. I have stayed between 1200-1500 calories everyday with 60+ g of protein and lots of fiber including taking Metamucil every day. I have been running 30 minutes every other day and doing calisthenics or yoga on the days between. I am drinking at least 64 oz of water and eating at least 5 fruits/vegetables every single day. I have also got back to meditating daily. This sounds wonderful. Right?
The problem is that I have only had one bowel movement in those 25 days and that was because I took 10 mg of bisacodyl (dulcolax) almost two weeks ago. It worked but I spent 12 hours in the bathroom with cramps and fecal incontinency. Over the last 4 weeks I've actually gained weight and my belly is so, so bloated. I know exercising and watching what I eat is not an immediate cure-all but I am feeling nauseated if not poisoned by all the poop that is piling up in me. However I do feel fitter and my skin looks much better.
I know my plumbing was left impaired by colon and rectal cancer a few years ago but it seems the running, water, and clean eating is making things worse.
Any advice or insight would be very, very appreciated.
