Biking More Lately

I've been trying to bike more lately. A couple of years ago, I bought myself a very nice bike (solely for comfort - not for speed), but never used it much until this summer. Now that I've lost quite a bit of weight, biking is more fun, although my sense of balance has changed quite a bit, so I've had to learn to adapt to that.

I certainly feel MUCH better about having being out in the streets with my behind sticking up in the air, now that my behind is much SMALLER than it used to be! And I'm less self-conscious about wearing leggings when biking too, which is nice. It's such a relief to be able to forget about what I look like, and just enjoy being active and exercising outside in the fresh air.

Today was the longest bike ride I've ever done - and I did it with a friend on a state trail near her house. It was fun, but it was definitely hard work. After we biked, we had iced tea and visited on her porch (socially distanced of course). When we were sufficiently cooled off and rested, we went for a fairly long hike. Hiking got pretty hot, especially with masks on. At one point, she said "My goodness, we're really hard core, aren't we?" Unfortunately she twisted her ankle near the end of our hike, so we stopped by the river so she could soak it in the cold water to keep it from swelling too much. Then we finished the hike (fortunately we were near her house when she got hurt).

It was a really enjoyable morning, but when I got home I drank a lot of water to re-hydrate myself, then took a very long nap in my nice cool apartment. Yes, unfortunately the NAP was my favorite part of the day!
