What Can I Do?

Thursday, September 17, 2020

Even though I have lost 9.25 lbs. in the last 6 months, I have been on a plateau since the end of the July. I have been bouncing back and forth between 183 and 185. My original goal had been to be at 179 by Oct. 1st but it looks like that isn't going to happen. If I lose 1/2 a week, I can do it by Dec. 9th, so that will be my new goal. Hopefully, though, I can figure out what is going on and lose the weight soon.

One of the things I was doing in late spring/early summer when I lost a lot of weight was the My Plate, which is the USDA's recommended way of eating. Basically, 1/2 plate of veggies, 1/4 plate of grains/carbs, 1/4 plate of lean protein. And while carbs are not a problem for me and I have no problem eating a small serving of those, I do find that I eat a lot of meat because it's just so tasty. So I am going to go back to the My Plate and make a concerted effort to fill up my plate with more veggies and less meat. I am still going to cook the same chicken/hamburger/fish, but just eat less of it.

I went to the store today and bought some fresh and frozen veggies, but by the time I got home, took a walk, and did my quiz, I had no time to cook. I ended up eating leftovers with a tomato salad with no dressing at 9 pm. But tomorrow I will roasted some broccoli, and I bought some broccoli de rabe which I have to figure out what to do it, but I think I will saute it. There were some other interest looking squashes and Mexican vegetables at the store that I will peruse more this weekend and see if I can figure out what to do with them.

We shall see if this plan induces me to lose weight. As it stands, I won't be able to start until tomorrow night at the earliest, but I hope to then.

Today I'm Grateful For...
1) New veggies.
2) That I am slowly making progress with a giant progress at work. (Inputting invoices, inputting credit memos, matching deposits to invoices, and then paying off the whole kit and kaboodle!)
3) That the weather was nice this evening and that I got in a 30 minute walk.

I have been eating less and less meat. It seems like if I eat very much, it messes up my gut. Maybe that is why I am still slowly losing weight.

I'm a lot older than you, so it should be harder for me. But it has been easier for me to avoid the foods I need to avoid. They cause pain and suffering when I eat them!

See?!?! Suffering IS a good thing!

Sounds like you have a good plan 😊 I've been stuck for a long time too gaining and losing the same five or so pounds but I know it's because of the weekend eating at night that I do. I've finally stopped it during the week but the weekend is hard.

Plateau is my middle name; I understand the frustration. Exercise and lots of water. You're doing great.

I now how frustrating it is when you hit that dreaded plateau but you are doing so well! I have been eating a lot of fruit and veggies, chicken and fish. I must confess that I have to learn how to cook fish as it is something I didn't grow up eating (unless it came battered and with fries!). Hang it there, the plateau....my hubby let out a big cheer when he was down a pound this morning! He has been stuck at the same weight for months. Hugs, Kat
