As the tropical depression (downgraded from Tropical Storm Beta) moved out of the Houston area, the sun came out and the waters began to recede..... Buffalo Bayou, near where I was staying, was still high, but not anywhere Hurricane Harvey high, and as the slow moving clouds moved off to the East, even the flooded areas began to reappear as dry land..... this contributes to Houston’s lush foliage, I guess like the annual alluvial floods of ancient Egypt, only with more automobile tow trucks!
I drove home to south central Texas this afternoon and my area seemed dry in comparison.... of course, since parts of Houston has received upwards of a dozen inches of rain, pretty much ANYTHING would seem dry in comparison..... it is less than 200 Miles away but a completely different eco-clime...
Home Sweet Home! It will feel so good to slip back into my own schedule, and fix my own meals.... I Love my family and I LOVE being with them, but home is very very good, too!
