Plan 2 Replanning my replanning. It's All About My Blood Sugar. Nothing Else Matters Right Now.

I had tried low carb high fiber but could not eat the fiber I need and still be low carb. I then added back fruit and raised my carbs substantially, eating about 100g carbs a day.

Regrouping.....last Sat, Nov 7, I got up and took my fasting blood sugar and it was 128, 2 points over the standard for diabetes. I replanned my meals and went straight Atkins 20 (20 grams net carbs daily) and now, 2 fasting blood sugar tests (first thing in the morning) I have had 105 and 104, just barely over normal. I will bite the bullet and do this! I know from experience that Atkins makes me lose weight, and significant weight loss lowers blood sugar levels across the board (both fasting, post-prandial which is 2 hours after first bite of a meal, and A1C which is a 2-3 month average of blood sugar that the doctor measures. The weight loss also lowers insulin resistance which is what causes Diabetes Type 2. I will have to take it easy exercise-wise for 2 weeks because flipping from burning carbs for energy to using fat for energy takes energy and to do too much makes one hungrier and it is hard to stick to it. After the first 2 weeks last time I felt like Superwoman!

I did Atkins in 2011 from June to Mid-October, felt great and was bursting with energy and lost 30 or so pounds. I followed the plan and did my normal activities, though more of them because I felt better, but followed no formal exercise plan. Got off and went wild with the carbs. That will not happen this time....when I get close, I will use the recommendations of Atkins to ease back into the carbs...trying a food at a time and checking to see if I gain weight, continue to lose, or maintain. This is to see if I have food sensitivities that may keep me from losing weight. Eventually I will have the absolute number of carbs I can eat at that time and maintain my weight, but like I said, the Blood Sugar is the most important thing right now.
For all who are interested, I will blog again in 3 weeks to give you my results. If this crashes, I will be Replanning my replanning!
