Home is Where the Heart Is
Thursday, December 17, 2020
As we prepare to sell the log home my husband built for us, we're all feeling a little sentimental--particularly during the holiday season. My 11-year old granddaughter wrote this poem for a school project and it is hitting us all right in the heart because the home she describes here is ours~
HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS by: Jasmine Sherman
Home is a big kitchen and a small dining room
Home is a blue couch and a red chair
Home is a log cabin in a quiet place
Home is kids running around.
Home is dogs and kids playing
Home is a dirt road with flowers
Home is a large hill with green grass
Home is rocks everywhere
Home is Grandma and Grandpa making jokes
Home is Mom and Dad cooking
Home is brothers and sisters
Home is cousins playing on the stairs
Home is family playing cards
Home is "Get that dog out of here!"
Home is "Go to bed and turn off the lights!"
Home is "Don't play rough with your cousins!"
Home is "Do your homework"
Home is pumpkin pie and blackberry cobbler
Home is turkey legs and stuffing
Home is banana cream pie
Home is green bean casserole
Home is getting ready for Christmas
**We have been so blessed to have been so connected to our grandchildren that our home has left such an impression on them. Not every grandparent get to have this and I hope never to take it for granted.
