Saying goodbye to 2020!
Thursday, December 31, 2020
As I reflect over 2020, it has been a year to remember. The year started very well with my husband and I moving back to Canada after a stint of 45 years in West Africa. There are many things that I will miss like my friends that I left behind, the ready smiles of everybody, the warmth exuded from individuals, etc. etc. However, we are happy to be closer to family. We cannot really make friends as yet because of Covid.
When March came around, we were in lockdown for a number of months. This made it difficult to look for a new home but we followed the guidelines and did find a place at the end of March and we moved in on May 10th. The ground floor was finished and we could reside in it but the basement needed to be completed. We got a contractor who did an excellent job in the basement -- a new family room, bathroom, bedroom, study for my husband and a gym. We do not have as much storage as we had back in Dakar but we did downsize and it is coming together. We still brought too much.
Our goods were delivered on July 31st and we had boxes everywhere! What a mess! I set about decorating our home and endeavoring to find a spot for everything. Not easy... We purchased the necessary cupboards to help us accommodate certain items. Fun and games I tell you.
Apart from being happy being closer to our daughters and nieces and grand-kids, we love the area we live in. It is exactly the type of area we were hoping to get.
We are closing the year with yet another lockdown. We have to get rid of this virus ASAP so we adhere to the rules. No visiting family, no partying, no dinners... Blah! WE ARE GOING TO SEE THIS THROUGH!
Please stay safe, wear a mask when outdoors and we shall continue on SP to endeavor reaching our goals.
Be good folks!
