This past week was physically exhausting moving the remaining furniture out of my late brother's house. I broke down on Wednesday when we did it but made my peace with everything and talked to my deceased brother. Turns out Goodwill wouldn't accept our donation of my brother's very usable but worn furniture as it wasn't up to their standards. The store manager was a Karen who refused to answer my son's request for information since we're not from the area even she lived there. My son had to go to the dump because I couldn't locate any other stores doing a Google search in time. He was upset and very very frustrated from the encounter. The other stuff she made the guys at the store put bavk.in the truck because she decided she wasn't going to accept anything from him. Fine, Goodwill will never see anything ever from me. At home I have a wonderful church run thrift store I exclusively donate too.
Thursday I thought everything was okay but no there were some other things that the buyers wanted removed from the property. At the time my son was gone and I told my realtor there was no way to get it done. So she hired someone who she's had help from before. It cost me $75 but at tjis.point I didn't care because it meant I didn't to worry anymore.
My son came back and we went on a search for the exact area where my 5th great grandparents lived. He had done extensive research and pinpointed the area. It wasn't far from the church they had attended at one point. I know my brother was guiding us as we had made so many random searches for a possible location. We had been past it dozens of times over the years.
Friday was closing on the house and things went smoothly. Everything was taken care of and I only had to sign a couple of forms. I asked realtor about the utilities and she said the builder had taken care of them on Thursday. All I need to do is call his insurance agent about the house insurance. I will contact him on Monday as I didn't have his number. Turns out when I got my mail after coming home, I had a card from him.
I closed the bank accounts and they messed up my name on the cashiers check and I had to return. They were really nice about getting a correct check printed out. Now I have to go to my bank Monday.
We went back to the hotel and I laid down. I had a bad headache that I knew was stress related so I didn't take any meds. It hung on until almost bedtime. I really think eating finally eased it some too but it was gone by the time I went to bed.
I feel so much better today. It feels like the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders and now I can relax and breathe again. I still have to deal with the timeshare condos in Florida. I am waiting to hear back from them. They are where we would go every September for two weeks so I would like to be able to keep going and seeing my friends and introduce them to my son. I'm missing Florida something awful.
The trip home went smoothly except for our trip to Arby's. The rudest people worked there. Time wise we did great because we didn't hit any slow traffic or tie upd in either Knoxville or Nashville and the construction on I24 in Kentucky was backed up.
We story the grocery and grabbed a few things on the way home to tide us over until we can get to the store after we get our Misfits order on Monday. It will be later next week before we get to the store. My son is taking a friend yo a specialist appointment in Bowling Green on Tuesday. That will be a long day for them both.
The Guinea pigs missed their fresh vegetables whole we were gone. They're happy now that they've had some.
