A Creature of Habit

Sunday, February 14, 2021

Earlier this week the Spark member POLSKARENIA posted a blog "Variety is the Spice of Life. www.sparkpeople.
com/mypage_public_journal_
individual.asp?blog_id=6736871
She wrote about hitting a plateau in her weight loss journey and how nothing she did moved the scale lower. By chance she discovered that by introducing variety into her eating and exercise habits the scale began to move downwards again. I commend her for her efforts and her commitment to now frequently shake up her routines.

Me? I am a creature of habit and so far that has served me well. My meals are simple, generally take less than 20-30 minutes to prepare and I focus on nutrition and what ingredients I have on hand. Breakfast is the same every day, oatmeal with fruit. Daily exercise is booked in a week in advance; I don't look forward to weight's day but I do like the results so I keep at it. I choose a routine for a 6-8 week period and make sure I complete it at least 2X weekly.

We find success when we are consistent and give our best efforts. We reach out to others here for advice and offer encouragement to them when needed. We make frequent use of Spark resources but also seek advice elsewhere, we never stop learning about good health and being fit. It is St. Valentine's Day, an occasion to celebrate love and friendship; be kind to yourself so that you can be kind, loving and healthy towards others. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Happy Valentines Day! We have to celebrate somehow, and I guess we enjoyed our dinner tonight. But tomorrow is Monday and I'll eat better. I'm sure of that because it won't be takeout from a restaurant!

That's just such an inspiring article and I loved the pictures -- she seems to have had such zest for living her whole life long!! I am so much looking forward to resuming my daily long walks with dear Henry -- next Friday morning will be the first one, even though there's 70% chance of snow here!! Like you, I pretty much eat the same things with different seasonings etc. and follow the same exercise routine, going deeper on any given day -- although recently all my exercise has involved lugging around furniture and boxes, that will come to an end pretty soon. Good to have had the functional fitness to get through all of that without much difficulty!!

Happy Valentines day!... emoticon .... Healthy lifestyle--yes to all the above. I am somewhat a creature of habit too--although I do try to change things to keep it fun and interesting. Whatever works is what works best. You are doing a great job at staying fit!
