Hello! I started my SP account in January, but fell off the map for a few months.

I just got married in March and a week after that was granted full custody of my 4-year-old stepson.

Bit of a shock for someone who's never lived with kids! My kid attacks my toes while I sleep and meows for food in the morning! I work with people with severe mental illness (schizophrenia right now) and live in Arizona.

I joined this group because I love to read. I was the only kid I knew who got grounded from books on a regular basis!

Welcome to the board!
I love to read too, though sometimes it's hard to find the time. I do most of my reading before I go to sleep for the night, it really helps me to relax and unwind. And I always have a book with me when I have to wait for a doctor appointment.

Hello everyone. My name is Donna and I've been on Sparkpeople for almost a month. I just found this team. I have been married for over 16 years. I have 2 beautiful daughters, ages 15 and 11. I love to read. I have bought over 1100 books since my daughters have been born. They enjoying reading too and I'm so proud of that.

I enjoy reading crime books (especially James Patterson's Women Murder Club and the Alex Cross series). I have read all of the Harry Potter books. I read the last one in one night because I had to see how it ended. (No sleep that night) I like Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series and Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (those are hilarious). If you like to read about "pyschic" crime Kay Hooper is pretty good. And I'm trying to find Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series. As you can see, my interests are all over the board.

Hi, thanks for the welcome.

I'm currently rereading the Harry Potter series. I'm now in the middle of The Order of The Pheonix. I'm also reading some Christian books that I borrowed from the church library. I also have some books of my own that I haven't read.

Currently also rereading Fluke about a man reincarnated into a puppy. It's supposed to be horror but it's not frightening at all, interesting reading all the same. I'm also reading Nightmares and Dreamscapes by Stephan King.

Does anyone agree with me that he's highly overated? I bought it on an impulse in 1994 and am just reading it now. I bought it out of curiousity because I used to know this huge Stephan King fan and she thinks he's wonderful! Well I've finished 3 of the stories (it's a collection of short stories) and all I can say is : it's not that wonderful.

As you can gather, I don't read books one at a time but several in one go. Habit of mine. Seems to go through books faster that way. lol!

How about you ppl? What are you reading now?

Hugs,
Elaine

Welcome to the group. Glad to have you here. Congrats on 21 years of marriage! I'm at just over a year myself. I know what you mean about staying away from the oven. I had to break down and bake something though the other day. We rent and the landlords haven't turned on the furnace for the winter yet and it got down to 54 degrees in the house so I baked brownies and the went to Lowe's to pick up a space heater (it helps that we don't pay for electricity, take that landlords!).

Have a great day and hopefully we can both stay away from all the holiday goodies.

Hi everyone! I was looking thru the book lovers teams and this looks like the team for me.

I'm a home body, married to my hubby for 21 years. He has 5 grown sons, and we together have one spoiled pup. I love them all~!

I'm trying to drop about 10 pounds and I've found that posting my food and workouts is really helping me. I've been on Spark for a long time, and I do best when I record my food.....otherwise, in my mind, I think I can just keep on eating....and I have a mouth full of 'sweet-tEEth' lol. Goodies are my weakness and this time of year is KILLER for me as I love to bake banana breads and pumpkin muffins...all that kind of stuff. So I'm trying HARD to stay away from the oven. emoticon

I love to read ~ looking thru the posts, looks like a lot of James Patterson fans....I like him too....mostly his earlier books and the Alex Cross series. I'm mostly a mystery/thriller reader...anyone ever read any Greg Iles? his stories are long and detailed but really engrossing. I read a lot of Erica Spindler, and I've read a few good Sandra Brown books..Chill Factor, Envy, and Ricochet.

Anyway...looking forward to visiting with you all and sharing book tips and losing these pounds together.

I don't think I've read that one. I've read Congo, Airframe, Rising Sun, Timeline, Prey, The Great Train Robbery, and State of Fear. I have some of his other books too but I haven't read them yet. I got a great deal on the books on ebay. Paid less than $1 each since I got them in a lot. I figure I'll donate duplicate books to the library.

Hi there, I'm new to the team. I joined this team because there are not specific books for the team to read. So far, I've had the closest book list to my Grandma.

So, I have been married for about a year and I have a 4 1/2 month old puppy named Duke. My husband is an engineer and I am in finance. I love to read books by Michael Crichton. No, I haven't read Jurassic Park or The Lost World. I got into his books by reading Prey followed by many others. I also like reading Dan Brown. I loved the DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons. Between my husband and I we have 3 bookcases full of books. Books on engineering, books on finance, and books for enjoyment. I've also just read Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Rich Dad's Cashflow Quadrant. Both by Robert Kiyosaki.

Anyways, this is long now. I'm happy to be here and looking forward to meeting everyone. Have a great day and enjoy a good book.

Discipline is remembering what you really want.

Hi, I'm Aly and I am a book addict :)

I am almost 29, been married to Brian for 6 years. Mom of 3 year old Delainey and 4 year old Braeden. Work full time as an Administrative Assistant but also own my business - www.muckysmorsels.com (warning it is baked goods so only go if you can handle temptation).

I have been reading since I was 3.5. I have a degree in English with emphasis on 19th Century British Lit. LOVE LOVE LOVE Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, the Bronte Sisters, etc.

However, got into Romance when I was pregnant with my son and have become a severe addict. I can kill a 400 page book in 1-2 days depending on the rest of my life!

And I have decided that when I die, heaven is going to be the biggest library ever with every book ever published :)

Aly

Hi, I'm Suzy, a 67 year old retired radiologic technologist. I'm a widow, my husband of 35 years passed away almost 2 years ago from pancreatic cancer. I have 2 grown children, 7 grandchildren and 1 3/4 great-grandchildren. The 3/4 one is due any day now! At home, I have 3 furbabies, 2 cats Jake and Sweetie and my dog, a Cavalier named Charles. (He helps me with my walking program LOL)

I learned to read at age 3 and haven't stopped since. I read just about anything except sci-fi and bloody horror novels. This last is kind of strange, since I like to read "true crime" books, such as those by Ann Rule.

That's the important stuff...more will be revealed in coming weeks!
Suzy

Hey! My name's Heidi, I'm 37 & married with 2 daughters and a mini dachshund..got to include my fur baby. I love to read but don't have a whole lot of time to do it. I read while on vacation 2 weeks ago Danielle Steel's "The House". I still have "Safe Harbour" checked out from the library but haven't even gotten to touch it since being back. I'm hoping to get it read before it's due back.

Joely~ I also have read the whole Left Behind series. I was hooked on them and couldn't wait for a new one to be released. It's the only series of books that I actually would read 24 hrs a day if I could.

Hello everyone- I'm Kim, 31 yearold stepmom of two. I love reading - and do a lot of it on the bike at the gym! I fly right through the Plum series books by Janet Evanovich and love the HP series! I guess if I had to categorize my favs, they would be romance (but not the paperbacks w/Fabio on the cover), some mystery and true crime.

I have a big bag of Mary Higgins Clark books. Anyone interested??

Hi, I'm 42 with 2 kids at home (2 & 4) and 2 kids in neighboring state with their dad (13 & 16). I love to read but don't get much chance given the little ones. I just watched the new movie "The Celestine Prophecy" and had to read the book planning to read the other 4 books by James Redfield next. It is also spurring me to read more of Dr. Wayne Dyer's works about inspiration and intention as well as going back to the story of Grandfather Stalking Wolf as told by Tom Brown Jr. Three very different tacts dealing with the same subject: connecting to spiritual energy to move your life to a higher level. Funny how what we've let slide in the past (this particular line of study) will come back to bite us in the butt and get us moving on our path again!

as a kid growing up my mom let me go to church, school or the library. So I spent a lot of time in the library when school was closed and church was only an after school program for me.

So now as an almost grown up I work in a library processing the incoming books and love my job; not crazy about the boss but love the work.
I spend time reading about up coming legislation in the General Assembly and reports from the city council regarding environmental plans for future development on wetland areas

I am married and we have two dogs from the pound and live in Hampton Roads Virginia
