@CROUCHINGFLEA Cleaning can be fun, but with OCPD I really have to be mindful of not going too overboard or expecting others to match my standards.

MEEKERAL, I'm so sorry to hear that. I do hope you find one of the other suggestions as a way to help you to cope. Exercise is a great way to burn off anxiety. So is cleaning. There is even a meme about it.

@CROUCHINGFLEA My panic disorder is an offshoot of OCPD, which is similar to OCD. I've been resisting meditation because of being OCPD, but have been adding it as exposure therapy. The financial issues and OCPD-related issues are a challenge for me as they both were a result of, or compounded by, the trauma of taking care of an ex who wouldn't look for a job as my first experience away from my parents.

I use the meditation app Insight Timer. LeAnn Rimes led a meditation on there a couple of weeks ago. There is a free option.

I've had financial difficulties on numerous occasions. Had to file bankruptcy too.

Good luck!

emoticon to the team! There are lots of things you can try, but everyone is different. Have you tried meditation? Headspace is a good app, but there are several great ones out there, grounding techniques help, focusing on your surroundings. I used to count in Japanese to 100 and focus on getting the sounds correct (in my head) and drown out everything else with that. Yoga is a great way to calm body and mind. And of course exercise in general is a great way to work off the anxiety and focus the mind. Cleaning helps me. Though it can become compulsory for me, almost OCD. Like I'll start to panic and I'll start cleaning and can't stop till the panic subsides and that can take hours for me. Or call a friend who understands and can talk to you until you calm down or talk you through a grounding technique like the 5 senses one. I can never remember it, but my friend does and she walks me through it.

I hope that helps a little. I still have trouble with it myself, so I'm not sure if I'm qualified to really help, lol. but I'm here if you need someone to talk to who understands. Financial things are a trigger for me, I've been super poor before, and having financial problems makes my panic/anxiety go through the roof. DH does not understand. But he has never had to go a whole week with only two cans of food and nothing else to live on for a whole week. Thankfully that time in my life is long past and a distant memory. Praying for you, and here if you need someone. emoticon

Hi, everyone! I've just been diagnosed with panic disorder this year. It was brought about by the life change of getting married, and thus accruing someone else's debt. I have a panic attack once a week. I'm currently unmedicated as the last two I tried has side effects. Any recommendations of how to maintain a "normal" mood while I wait for my next appointment?
