when I am using thin yarn, I double up over several stitches using both the old ball and the new ball of yarn, then weave in the tailings.

Hope this helps.

Hello, my name is Rebekah. I am 29 years old, a wife and mother, a full time student of Literature, a vegetarian, and a writer. I have been overweight my whole life ( since I was 10), and I have lost and gained weight so much I have lost count of the times. But I went to the doctor the other day, and when I got on the scale I saw a number that scared me to death, 278. I left the doctor that day thinking, "When did I get this big? How could I let myself go for this long?" I couldn't shake the number 278 out of my head. I am relatively healthy for my size, but I know I can't hope to stay that way forever, and I must do something now. I have friends who have done or are doing the Lap Band, but I just can't feel comfortable with undergoing major surgery to loose weight myself. It scares me. I have a lot of bad eating and lifestyle habits, and only I can change them. I know this is going to be a slow battle, but I know I can do this. If I can keep my GPA up to almost a 4.0, and write a novel, I can become a healthier person. I just recently started learning how to knit, so I am a nube. But I am almost finished with my first project, a basic garter knit scarf, and I am proud to say I only have one noticeable whoopsie in it. I just can't get the hang of adding on a new ball of yarn. I have tried many times. Any tips are greatly appreciated.
