* Keeping a diary and identifying culprit foods that aggravate the condition

* Not bending over for a while after eating drinking anything

* Not over-indulging, particularly with rich foods

* A glass of milk or some yoghurt can help to sooth the condition when it arises

* Learning how to cope with stress appropriately

* Raising the head of the bed slightly

I have tried all of the above and they have all, more often than not, worked.
