What is the weather like today?

Living in the SW desert of AZ, the temps are ramping up...but we've had a respite...today mild with temps around 85 degrees. I'll take it...for now!

So excited to see Jo Ann, Debi, and Arleen back along with all the newbies!

Normalgirl, I love the accountability of the BLC. I have always felt I was letting my team down if I didn't give 100% and I didn't want to do that. So on the days when I really didn't feel like I wanted to do it, I did it anyway for my team.

Tee, I'm jealous of your weather.

I'm new to this challenge but not to SparkPeople. I've lost weight before using the SparkPeople trackers, so I know what works for me - but my difficulty now is being consistent with following my plan. I'm hoping the accountability of this challenge will help me stick with healthy lifestyle choices. Summers are always the most difficult times for me as they lack the structure of the school year. So this seems like a good time to join this challenge.

I eat the same breakfast every day during the work week: an apple with peanut butter and a serving of almonds. This may not seem like much, but it keeps me full until lunchtime. When I've tried eating oatmeal or other whole grain cereals, I was always hungry before lunchtime. I think what I'm now eating for breakfast has the right combination of protein, fats, and fiber that work for me.

emoticon yes I prefer to do my workout in the mornings so some days breakfast can be at 11:00, we have to do what works best for ourselves. Usually greek yogurt, with some flax granola and a fruit.

I eat breakfast, but it's usually about 3 hours after I get up. I'm not sure if that's the best thing, but it's better than waiting to have my first meal at lunch--7 hours after waking up!

I usually have either baked oatmeal with apples, cinnamon, and golden raisins, or bear naked toasted coconut cereal with almond milk.

emoticon I, too, have participated in BLC before also, starting way back 2008.
Summers are a challenge for me to exercise, BLC holds me accountable better than I hold myself accountable. Its too easy for me to come up with an excuse...#1 being its too hot. I live in Mesa, AZ and yep...it gets hot. I don't even want to go to a near-by rec. center, where I have my membership "paid" by Silver 'n Fit...now how bad is that.

Yes, I eat breakfast. I usually rely on Baked Amish Oatmeal...I can make a batch...enjoy the first serving when it comes out of the oven with some almond milk and raw honey...and I am very happy. ThenI have 7 more servings that are available in the 'fridge.

I did some BLCs in the past and then I stopped for a while but I decided to get back into it to challenge myself this summer to stay consistent with my new lifestyle!

I struggle with breakfast and I haven't had a proper breakfast in weeks. Usually (when I'm doing good which has been a while), my go to are a oats with apple and tuna but recently or some type of smoothie. Recently I remember to eat when I have the headache.

SIGH! I really need to get back on track with taking care of myself.

Hello! I'm a newbie as well. I met a few BLCers through another Spark challenge & have finally gathered my courage to give it a go. I'm working on losing about 20lbs & could sure use some accountability!
Saasha17 - way to go on training for a half marathon! I'm doing a kids' run of 1.5k with my preschooler - a far cry from a half. That said, I'm pretty proud that she's active & want to keep moving with her.

Yes I eat breakfast - my mother always told me it was the most important meal of the day and I never miss it. I usually like cereal in the summer and porridge in the winter

It may be sunny today which is really nice, but more rain in the forecast for tomorrow. I have been working on an interface between a couple of our systems that has lots of errors on it. I am slowly getting rid of them but it is hard as I do not know one of the systems and how the data reacts in it. Oh well at least it is keeping me busy.

I am so glad it is Friday and am looking forward to the weekend

hi everyone

Welcome to the newbies and returning members. I was doing BLC for a while and then didnt come back for a few rounds...I did continue tracking and using sparkpeople....but just not bLC.

A lot of things have happened in between..I joined a running group..ran my first 10k on Dec 31st 2017. Now Im training for a half marathon (YIKES), my first in November...Arghhh..but my nutrition needs accountability...

Hi all,

I'm back with BLC after over 2 years being MIA. I had a son. I gained some weight. I gave up on myself. I gained even more weight. Now it is time to take control of my life. My name is Alexia, and I've been on and off BLC for years, but I keep on coming back. I've been trying to lose the same 20-25 pounds over and over again. I've been participating in Weight Watcher meetings since the middle of January, and I have lost over 10 pounds. The plan is ok, but I need to implement more activity and strength training. I'm very excited to be back!

Hello,

there has been about 20 rounds or so since I have last been a contender. I look forward to the challenge as I have alot of baby weight i packed on since I left BLC. Since there are no more babies of my own in the future this is the perfect time for me to get back in.

I love the accountability, the checkin, just having support and groups and team members to compete with. I can be very competitive. I have two jobs, three kids, 1 cat and 20 rabbits...I can do this...lol

I have been a BLC member many times and had great success. After going floater a few rounds due to family issues I rejoined last round. I had to leave with no notice due to another family illness. Now that I have regained almost the whole 60 lbs I had lost and dealing with my own health at this point I have rejoined. I need to get myself back on track.

I so happy to be back. I feel like I just need thea mandatory check in and requirements back into my life. Can.not.wait!

Sharon, BLC 35 Goals: 45-50 mins intentional cardio 5 days a week. Resistance training 4 days a weeK. Offer myself a positive comment every night before sleeping. Increase my freggies from 0 - 2 daily. Kitchen access = obstacle.
