I'm not familiar with Korean food much beyond kimchee and bul ko gi. I know Korean food runs rather hot, so start slowly.

"...there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for."

"We're children of a fighting race that never yet has known disgrace." (The Soldiers' Song, Irish national anthem)

"Every day above ground is a good day." (Chef Justin Kennedy of New Orleans, on Chopped)

I went to Korea a few years ago to visit some friends who were teaching English there. Korea is beautiful - the people were kind, the temples were impressive and subtle at the same time, and the food - the FOOD!

There are no Korean Restaurants where I live, but the other day I found a Korean grocery run by the sweetest woman of all time. She shared her brown bagged lunch with me and told me she would teach me to make Korean food.

So, what should I start with? If anyone out there loves Korean food like I do, what recipe would you want to learn first?
