Gladiator Sandals, super high heels, acid wash jeans (unless I am going to a party with an 80's or 90's theme).

I will absolutely wear:
Maxi Dresses, Doc Martens, NYDJ (it's ok, I'm a mom).

I'm almost 50, so I'm paying more attention to age appropriate outfits.

These items have always looked poor on me:

peplums
peter pan collar tops
chunky knit sweaters
boyfriend jeans
pastels (wash me out)

I should stop wearing hoodies, but I have a big assortment of them and love to wear them around the house.

Sky, I hear you on the UGG's :-) I just bought my first pair this year, I must confess they are veeerrrry comfortable, but honestly I don't see what the bruhahah is all about. I do buy them for my daughter though-- she is three and they really conform to her growing feet and keep her warm.

I would not wear crocs...

I do not understand the use of leggings as pants. I understand leggings underneath a shirt-dress or short dress, but not leggings as just pants. I have leggings but you will not see me with leggings and then a basic type of shirt that does not go below my waist. If I am wearing leggings they are with a shirt-dress, or any type of dress or skirt (or underneath pants in order to layer during winter).

I've seen some cute wedge sneakers, and I've been tempted, but they kind of need to be worn with skinny jeans, and my tree trunks are WAY too bulky and muscular for that.

I would also never say never, but I don't think I will be wearing peplums any time soon. I did that trend the first time and I was a lot thinner.

Lace panels. Also did that trend the first time.

Definitely no crocs or wedge tennis shoes. Although I have been warming up to the wedges that are stream lined. The first ones that came out looked like hospital circulation booties.

Good point: it's about what you are comfortable working! Most of what I won't wear is not because I'm fundamentally against the trend or brand, but that the style just doesn't suit my physiology.

I'm skeptical of the peplum explosion, too. It just got too pervasive too fast. I did order a dress with a -hint- at either hip, so we shall see how that goes. I just couldn't commit to the 360-degree experience, though. You're right: very, very 80s.

Dead animal parts (but I do like synthetics, especially python); ostrich, in particular, gives me the creeps.

Sack or drop-waist dresses; drop-crotch, high-waisted, or pleated pants; watch bands wider than 2cm; turtlenecks.

I am kind of against maxi dresses, but at the same time on an eternal quest to find one that looks good on me.

SKECHERS.

Yeah - so did my heavy ski tights.

But these are thin flimsy leggings! The kind people wore in the 80s? 90s? Under a big shirt or tunic, or a short dress? The kind that's about as heavy as, oh, a man's basic tee shirt. Thin light fabric leggings. The kind that don't compress a thing!

Here in Australia, I see women (GROWN women, not just teenagers) wearing leggings as pants. LEGGINGS! With a short top. Ugh! They aren't bad if someone is small and has muscle tone, but some women need more structure around the hips and tush than leggings provide!

i'm not very tall, 5'4, and i'm overweight, so I have to be careful with a lot of stuff. I tend to think that most things don't look good on me for that reason. some colors I will stay away from, really bright orange, certain yellows. I don't think I look good in red at all.

So I have figured out that I won't wear solid orange, but I will wear orange accents.

Oh that is what I thought they were, but wasn't sure.

I wouldn't want to look like a sack of potatoes either. Which is exactly how I looked before I got some fashion sense. I was putting together a scrap book for my parents. I found a picture of myself that would have made me a candidate for "What Not to Wear" And I dressed like that all the time. And I thought I looked good.

Hi NOTBLUSHING, I have slightly flat feet :( so heels over 3" really make me wish life was a little shorter emoticon but more power to you lucky gals that can carry off really high heels.

you don't have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.

Slendermama, I know! I was also surprised at how long my list became after a few edits (I kept adding to it)!
Although I don't quite comprehend the 'life is too short for 3" heels' part (?) I guess it's just a different POV from mine! For me, life is too short to waste on flats!

Horizontal stripes? I must try that certainly don't have that problem often ;)
This is such a good post!
I hate:
Crocs
faux fur
mohair (makes me itchy)
anything neon
creeper shoes
high waisted bottoms
thongs!! (does anyone actually feel comfortable in these?)
anything with slogans
any tops that aren't fitted makes me look like a sack of tatties!
Super high heels (I like heels but any with a massive platform makes me look like the bfg)
fishnet tights
suede gives me the heebies
harem trousers
trapeeze dresses
dropped waist dresses
those super tight shorts that look like big pants
cropped tops
those earrings that aren't pairs!

hmm there has got to be soo many more! Might also come back to this!

Things with cut outs, dresses shirts etc. Mini dresses, with bare legs. Would wear leggings pants or capris with them. Backless dresses or shirts

High waist or pleated pants.

@Phebes, I am not well endowed but well enough that if I wear a low cut blouse there is a problem. I don't like what little I do have hanging out.

I won't wear orange (and I should really steer clear of yellow)
open toe boots, booties or shooties (gag)
Peplums (they are super cute but not on me)
anything with cut outs
anything that reveals to much cleavage.
Crocs
Turtlenecks

I also don't do flip flops or those gladiator shoes. Those type of shoes are not cute on my feet.

Sleeveless tops and dresses - but one day soon I will get back into those items.

No peplums for me either. It was cute in the 80's but not now.

Animal prints are a no unless I am at home lounging or the print is on a scarf.

I stay away from turtlenecks because of my bust.

And I absolutely used to hate flat shoes but find that they are great when I'm running out the door with the kids. I am not however giving up my heels for them. But I do think I will downsize to a....nah! I love my heels too much. Lol

Brilliant!

-leggings unless I have a very long top (mid-thigh or longer)
-smocking - like those stretch smocked top sun dresses
-strapless - just doesn't work anymore
-high heels (just can't walk in them!)
-people prints
-large amounts of animal prints
-snakeskin or crocodile or alligator or shearling lamb or down-filled
-polyester and most synthetics
-wool next to my skin
-absolutely no olive green, mustard yellow, or any earthy color

oooohhhh...lovely post NB!!

Let's see....

I struggle with heels..for my 6 foot frame, anything over 3 inches is a no go for me...

Turtle Necks--I have a 34J bust-no way

Anything too Voluminous....

Now, if we were to flip this thread.....

My fashion Dare or secret desire:.....

Strapless Pieces!!-I would love to wear strapless tops, dresses, etc but alas, the bust issue....

A backless dress-the kind that is covered up to the neck in the front, but the back dips really low and is completely bare... emoticon

skirted bathing suits
high waisted pants
"ruched" anything
skinny jeans or anything really tight
almost anything showing cleavage
linen
most rough/scratchy materials
any material I think will attract lint/hair
smocking
boat necks
turtle necks
sequins or anything sparkly as part of a casual outfit
shiny fabric, unless swimwear, underwear, formalwear or patent leather
any fabric that makes noise when I walk
wire-free bras
high-cut or French-cut underwear, or granny panties
jewel tones
most pastels
elastic waists (except workout pants that are all elastic)
asymmetrical hems
anything above my knee
anything I deem too cheap/cheap looking/shoddy
almost all 100% cotton
tall (knee height) boots
almost all clothes with writing or slogans on it
almost all tee shirts
anything frilly or ruffled
floral prints, all types
any color/pattern that is exclusively feminine (gender specific)
anything overtly whimsical/frivolous/child-like/gaudy
the "skulls" print trend
boots with skirts/dresses
almost anything baggy, boxy, flowy, loose, or billowy, such as open front draped cardigans

I will add to this list
