I praise God that He knows, both the unspoken and my intention. A lot of prayer requests could become less like gossip if we all remembered that in our meetings and gatherings.

I've been taking a course at UTexas of Austin, the Knight Center has a course in Investigative Journalism. I'm 3 weeks into a 4 week class. So far I've been blowing life back into my newsguy bones, it has been 42 years since I did it regularly. I've been named chair of our Church's Foundation and will probably be getting some use out of the skills of being a trainer, facilitator, psych-tech, sunday school teacher, librarian, etc. I am doing this along with being the church's archivist and am preparing for digital preservation of documents and photos.

My wife and me need prayer. Financially we got surprised and overwhelmed, ended up in the long rung that the smoke cleared but didn't realize we hadn't paid the rent. Ouch! We got so wrapped up, and the Landlord didn't say a thing directly. Oh boy. I don't like those kind of surprises. But it also makes me realize that we might need to move into an assisted community.

I'm not even near perfect, but I know someone who is.

Thank you for asking.
My brother-in-law passed away in January. He died very peacefully in his sleep. My mother-in-law is comforted with the knowledge that he is now released from all the limitations he had in life and is with the grandmothers who loved him dearly. His memorial is on Feb 28 at the facility where he spent his life.

My other unspoken request continues. I have a presentation tomorrow in CPE that is very personal and part of the unspoken request.

Thank you for your prayers.

I thought I'd stop by and see if there was any progress in your need/challenge that you requested prayer for.

We are picking up the pieces at our congregation.

There are prayers for you as well as your concerns. Those of us, for example, who do not flee when trouble approaches are always in a bind. God knows our hearts.

Also, my family has history with siblings-uncles-aunts-cousins-etc who have various extreme health situations. I'm glad you felt open to share, and I have known the frustration since the 1960s.

I don't always get to all my groups/teams regularly but I am seeking to make it a point to get here more often.

Btw, I found a notarized copy of our purchase of the property back in 1951, the deed/title, and some supportive documents. The folder was in the bottom of a file cabinet, and I wouldn't have searched down there except I had accidentally dropped a folder down there. I was searching for any documentation about a couple's marriage 40 years ago. However, this find could be considered serendipity or God's act of synchronicity.

I don't believe in fate or luck, so you can guess what I'm thankful for. Now we have two complete documentation regarding our property and church charter. The Denomination will have to do better than their forged documents to challenge our congregation in the court system.

Just saying...

I'm not even near perfect, but I know someone who is.

Another prayer request is for my husband's brother. He is nearing the end of his life. He is severely and profoundly disabled with the mental age of 18 months and the physical age of 62. Keep him in your prayers as his body is shutting down. And keep my husband and his parents and sister and his brother's staff in your prayers. Some staff have worked with him for 34 years. He has lived where he is for over 40 years.

I want us to be sure to hold our denomination in prayer. The news is difficult to bear. I guess it has been coming, but it is still sad. I have friends on both sides. People will have to chose and it can get messy. We need to pray for our churches and the members.

Sorry, I haven't been around. I've been pretty busy.

Gralan: I've been reading your posts and you have been in my thoughts and prayers. Like you, we don't know where we will go since we know where the church in our community will probably go. At that point we won't be comfortable there.

Our tiny congregation (currently 30 members, avg.18 on Sunday and 8 on Wed.nite) is facing standing up for the truth or losing its charter as a church. The way things are going, Bible revisionist progressives are going to ignore the charter in their attempts to rightfully challenge the Conference about the wrongful actions by the Bishop and others towards our congregation in order to attempt to grab the historical property site and sell it retail for about 2 million dollars.

So, they will destroy the congregation fighting the wrong battle at this moment. For they wish to pull away from the Conference (okay) because of wrongs by the Bishop(+) for which in 2019 12 of 14 petitions presented for voting dealt with, but as 2 dealt with homosexual marriage, practicing homosexual clergy these Bishops are charged with being bigots towards the LGBTTQQIAAP (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, ally, pansexual) community?

For spite, I bring up that Trans and non-binary folks were not dealt with at all so how is it that the LGBTTQQIAAP (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, ally, pansexual) community was bigoted against?

Too much self-definition for a Church built by God, too much wishful thinking/personal belief versus Scientific fact and saving Faith as described by the Bible, too narcissistic to be humble, to quick to draw offense for obedience to the Apostles teachings, too post-modern to be Wesleyan and way to loose to be methodical about anything let alone a puritanical reformation arm of the Church of England later to be named "Methodism", to quick to slander and malign the character of others to be Biblical in behavior or attitude.

It is a shame really. They, in our congregation I'm speaking about, will blame the Denomination and others for what they are doing to themselves (and by extension to the rest of the congregation who will be damaged) by their vision is too narrow, their logic too sophomoric, their spiritual maturity and knowledge to be 8th-grade youth group level at best and yet they claim to be leaders. I am embarrassed to bring this up, but we need prayer.

And concerning my wife and I, we are not sure what to do except what appears our mission in the churches to provide spiritual hospice care for dying churches. It has been happening since 1998. We've been married 23 years now, so you do the math.

I'm not even near perfect, but I know someone who is.

Father knows best; so we praise you with Son our saving Shepherd King and Holy Spirit our comforting equipper who plugs us into unity with you. We see the reason for Eternity, to know and enjoy you forevermore and take delight even with each other and the rest of Creation.
As we live among the worldlings on this planet, we ask forgiveness for our sins, which are varied, great and manifold in spite, neglect, and intention. We ask for the grace and wisdom to act on forgiving those who sin against us and those we care about. We do not seek to justify our old nature which is corrupt and irredeemable. We also pray for all who are in leadership, pagan and among you people. We pray for the halt, the injured as well as those who are hale. We ask to be agents of your peace, examples and heralds for others to be reconciled with you.
Thank you for causing us to be born of you in the new creation. We seek to be ambassadors of your Kingdom of Light. Help us see our pagan neighbors as humans you love just as we know Jesus loved the sincere whether hoity-toity or yokel, laborer or desk jockey, even as his own disciples were Matthew the Government hack and Simon the anti-fascist zealot.
Put us to the task, rank us with who you wish, for we wish to be doing and suffering rather than being an aside like servants waiting in the hall for the Master's voice. We do not wish to guess we please you, we seek the courage to grasp the joy and choice of being adopted in Christ to be your righteous children. For that is our created purpose, for being put in right relations with you causes us to Rock. We're glad to be your living stones, chips off the old block.
We come to you knowing we've made hash out of what you gave us, but this does not surprise you. It is our heritage since Eden, and we wish to eat the new fruit of the Spirit as we stand before you as your people.
In Jesus' name.

Prayed, and will remain prayerful on all accounts listed and unlisted. As for opportunities, my brother-in-law has done short-term ministry in churches that lost a pastor (whatever reason) and needed to deal and heal as a congregation.
He also served for decades as a police chaplain on-call with the Albuquerque Police Department. It was not full time but when he was able and the rotation came around he went. I went on a couple of dead-person calls late at night with him, and from afar saw who he dealt with first-contact to family and such. He also dealt with visitors from out of town involved with accidents/hospital stays, etc.
A minister whose hubby was our pastor up in Canyon Lake Texas worked at a local hospice until she found a permanent pastoral position that she felt called to fill.

Upheaval, discord, failure, ending of seasons of life, poor/bad health, lack of opportunities on the horizon, all are familiar to us and yet that does not lessen their impact on our self and soul, and for those around us.

I look forward to see what you report later, if you can and will, of more opportunities to pray and help perhaps for you to have a brief debrief.

your brother,
gregory

I have a number of prayer requests. The past couple of weeks have been pretty hard.

First for my brother. He has been in the hospital for 6 weeks with infection and is looking at ten more weeks where they remove his knee (replacement) where the infection seems to be and then put it back after about ten weeks. I went to visit him (six hour trip) yesterday and he isn't doing well.

Second for my father-in-law: He has the same disease that Peter Frampton announced he has. My father-in-law has had it for 15 years and is pretty advanced. He has no use of his legs an can't lift a paper cup with water. He is now having trouble eating and swallowing. His mind is totally alert and otherwise is in perfect health for an 83 year old. He is cared for my mother-in-law who is wearing herself out to meet all his needs since they have no in home nursing care.

Third: I'm suppose to start CPE in a couple of weeks. Right now my agency is in the process of a merger and things are really in upheaval as we work on new systems, etc. I travel an hour to work and work ten hour days. Not much left in the day and I am exhausted at the end of a day. So, just prayers that things will work out with everything I have to do for work and for CPE.

Fourth: Long story short...my husband was a hospice chaplain. The office he was working out of was eliminated with downsizing. He is looking for another position. He interviewed with a large hospital for a full time position but they hired him for prn (when they need him). Right now he doesn't get many days. Pray that another opportunity or the full time position comes about.

And last: I continue to want to return to the pastorate. Prayers that the doors might open.

I'm going to jump in with a request for myself. I'm finishing up paperwork to start a unit of CPE next month. It will be very busy with my already busy schedule.
