I hear ya. I've been at the same weight for months. I guess it's better than gaining. My big problem has been surgery on my foot, then got a wooden plaque dropped on it, and then the physical therapist burned it in two places with the Tense Unit (electrical stimulation). I wiggle around and 'dance' for 10 minutes a day, but it just doesn't take the place of an active work-out.

We all need to keep the long term goals in mind when we make smaller goals for ourselves. I know that I need to do this.

Well, I've had a real eye-opener and need to revise my goals. I thought I'd be puttin' along, getting svelte in no time at all. RIGHT!? NOT!

I'm going to need to recalculate my goals and make them more reasonable.

I'm sure no one else has ever done this. emoticon

I'm getting out of the doldrums and carry on.

Good Morning! I am getting back on Track. I was one of the many who fell off over the holidays. But I am definitely ready to get back with the program. I dont want to think of the big picture, but rather just the next 12 weeks. I would like to lose 25 lbs over that time. I know it sounds like a lot, but I am hoping the 4 lbs that I put on over the holidays will come off fast.

Received my SP Fit and Firm DVD in the mail yesterday and will give that a go this morning! I am feeling stronger everyday! Weigh in is Friday -- I know I will need support because as much as I try not to, I get focused on the number. It never moves as fast as I want it to! emoticon

Hello everyone, today is Wednesday - and I hope all is well. I'm proud that I added strength training. I am glad that I don't have to feel overwhelmed in working my sparkpeople plan. I am now tracking what i eat for breakfast, drinking the water, yesterday strength training and then cardio 40 min (swim) - it seems as though if i focus on the one pound - this helps me stay focused and not think so much - better for me to DO! Sign me, I want to get out of the 200's! Enjoy your day!!

just getting on this wonderful bandwagon of losing weight.. my boyfreind, pat ( who else is on this with me) are combining words of wisdom to each other along the way.. "I'm just tired of being FAT " we have grandbabies to play with, we're still young enough to do this.....a moment of happiness cannot slip by because we have to sit on the outside looking in... for all the encouragement that you can give us, even if its just alittle.. we will grow on this and become somebody that we want to... so, the journey continues,, one day at a time. until then, barb and patrick emoticon

I'm new too! To SP, not to the planet. As my daughter likes to call me, "more than 1/2 a century!"

We all wish for a quick fix but there isn't one of course. We didn't gain the weight in one day so we won't lose it in one day either. And I've heard it's more difficult the older you get. Plus, I've lost & gained so many times that each time it's harder. Hoping this is the final time!

UUUGGG I really hate this cold weather. Worse yet I hate waiting at a bus stop in this cold weather. I know it will only get colder because it is only January. But I will be glad when it gets out of the minus 30's. I mean not even my dogs want to go out and play. It is weather like this that I wish I worked out of my house.

I have to weigh in this morning, I'm nervous of stepping on the scale.

I have been learning to use SparkPeople for the last 5 days and I am really enjoying earning points -- that's very motivating. Such a simple thing!

I struggle with the "one pound at a time" thing -- I DO want the quick fix and resent having to work so hard at this being healthy thing -- it's silly and I would not hesitate to scold someone who came to me with that attitude about a problem they were having!

I have been exploring weight loss surgery, but I know it's only a tool and that it's really about changing bad habits and stopping emotional eating. I can lose this weight without surgery! Today I pledge to exercise, track my nutrition and drink my water! I will lose this weight one pound at a time!!!

Welcome to the new people, take it slow with exercise working up to about 30 to 60 minutes at a time. Cut down on the sugar and fat slowly also, so you won't crave foods and then stuff yourself for not having them, like I do sometimes. When you fail and you will fail, pick yourself up and go on as if nothing happened, nothing did happen in the long way of looking at things.

Hi, Folks.

I'm brand spanking new here. Just learning my way around.

I turned 60 last week. 60! Can you believe how fast time flys? I'm sure I was just 35 a few months ago. What happened?

I'll tell ya what happened...I ate. I ate everything. Especially fast food...all day...and into the nite. I had candy and bakery items hidden away. I'd eat @ midnite, Every nite. And here I am, closer to to 300 lbs instead of 200 lbs. If I keep eating this way I'll be closer to 400 lbs eventually.

Today things changed for myself and hubby. We had a "kitchen intervention" and now live in a JFFZ (Junk Food Free Zone). I joined Spark and starting using it. I'm learning how to use the site by trial and error. I have no idea if Im actually communication or just typing for myself. I also exercised today. Not much. But I did.

So I feel like I'm off to a good start.

I must prepare for success...it doesn't just happen.

I feel like I am really ready to loose this weight. Joined New Years Eve and have lost 4 lbs. I am sitting here drinking my second 12 oz glass of water. Drinking water is a major thing for me since I am hopelessly addicted to diet Coke and Pepsi. I went to the grocery and bought food, another major thing since I have eaten fast food for 3 meals aday. I really like fast food and never get tired of it. Been eating fast food for 7 years and it shows on my hips. I feel like if I don't loose the weight this time, at 56 yrs old, I may never be motivated again.

I have been having trouble with Spark today. It will not let me enter any food. My daughter who wanted to register Spark would not let her. I guess today is Glitch day for Spark for me.

I have not done bad today but will be glad to get back to work and get myself back on a routine. It is so much easier for me to follow and to journal if I am on a routine.

By the way why does my ticker always say (KGS) when I keep telling it lbs. Frustrating.

Hah!...I have to lose some pounds before my body will even TRY to bend at the waist! But I am walking and doing some stretches. I think I'll celebrate with a much-needed new pair of shoes when I can actually reach down and tie my shoelaces again! I'm going to reward myself in some small (non-food) way for each 10 lbs. I get off. A longer range goal: To actually wear a swimsuit this summer. hmmmmm. emoticon

Hope everyone is doing well! I re-set my time frame last month, to take one full year (4 seasons) to reach my goal of getting rid of 80 lbs of excess baggage, once and for all. This breaks down to 20 lbs per season, or 1.5 lbs per week on the average. I am taking it one season at a time, one lb at a time, to reach my first goal of 20 lbs. I am determined to stick with it this time, and then stick with keeping it off for good. One pound at a time is the only way to go! Winter officialy began on 12/21/10, so it feels good to have already been on the way before New Year's. Thanks for letting me share, and~~Best to all!

I want so badly to get on my elliptical, but my knee pain will not let me. Now it looks like I must sell it because no one else uses it and its taking up too much space in my living room.

Don't do resolutions, but am focusing on getting back in to my health & fitness routine. Monday the family & friends will be back at work & I will take down Christmas decor & track my food, drink my water, & exercise. I had a good Holiday & vacation, where family, friends, & food was a big part. I enjoyed the food, the friends, the family, but now it's time to get back to reality.

I wish all of you good luck with getting back into your healthy routines, or starting new ones. emoticon

Doesn't it feel great to have a new year before us. I know this is the year of change for me. This time I have made a well thought out plan. Instead of doing the same things and getting the same results I have implemented change. I am doing this with the assistance of a Bariatric doctor (no shots, pills,or surgery)just work on my part. 2011, here I come, a more beautiful, healthier, smaller ME. emoticon J

Hi I'm new to the Forum. Although, this is a new year I did not make loosing weight one of my Resolutions. I did decide to make Get more organised my top priority. I am very organised at work but not so much at home. I always feel disorganised at home.
I have been thinking about different things I can do to accomplish this.

Making a eating life style change can not just be a one year Resolution. This is a life time commitment.

Although with organisation I suppose Journaling, something I have always had trouble with will be easier.

I hope to get many ideas from all your success stories.

I LEFT I WHOLE PUMPKIN PIE & THE BIGGEST PART OF THE OTHER ONE WHEN I CAME HOME. DH CAME & GOT ME & NOT LONG AFTER WE GOT HOME A TORNADO HIT THE WAY WE'D CAME. IT DID A LOT OF DAMAGE. ALMOST STOPPED AT THE FABRIC STORE (RIGHT WHERE IT HIT) BUT I WASN'T FEELING WELL SO CAME ON HOME. SO GLAD THAT WE DID. 3 KILLED IN MO & 2 IN ARK. THEY SAID IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE EXCEPT PEOPLE WERE GONE VISITING OR SHOPPING AT THE TIME. emoticon

Hi everyone. I can't believe 2011 is almost here. Where did 2010 go? I have yet too from the thinking stage to the writing stage for my New Year resolutions. I better hurry as time is running out. J

Welcome to the team.
This team is where we can all let out our feelings good and bad about losing weight. We are all in the same frame of mind.

I would have a discussion with her!!

Off the subject, but I wanted all to know about this....

A&E New Original Series Heavy Premieres 1/17 at 10/9C

Twenty-two individuals facing extreme life-threatening health consequences as a result of their obesity experience real life change in the new original series "Heavy," premiering Monday, January 17 at 10/9c. The eleven episode one-hour series follows two participants per episode documenting their incredible transformations during a six month treatment program.

Unlike other weight loss series, "Heavy" is not a competition or stunt, but is rooted in the incredible real life day-to-day journeys of the participants during a lengthy treatment program.

(CAPS FOR VI)

CANDY, ANOTHER THING I'M NOT GOING TO DO IS SHARE MY FEELINGS ON TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT WITH THOSE AROUND ME. IT SEEMS EVERYTIME I DO THEY AGREE WITH HELPING ME & THEN SEEM TOGO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO SCREW IT UP FOR ME. CASE IN POINT. I LOVE PUMPKIN PIE BUT HAVEN'T HAD ANY ALL YEAR. I'D TOLD MY DAUGHTER ABOUT IT & (I'VE BEEN HERE A WEEK BABY SITING BUT GOING HOME TOMORROW) SHE MADE ME 2 BIG PUMPKIN PIES LAST NIGHT. AND NONE OF THEM LIKE PUMPKIN PIE! AND SHE'S HAPPY THAT SHE DID IT! SOMETIMES IT'S HARD FOR ME TO LEARN A LESSON BUT I FEEL LIKE I HAVE. IT'S THE ONLY WAY I'M GOING TO LOSE IT. I'LL USE THIS GROUP TO VENT. AFTER ALL, EVERYONE HER IS TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT & HELPS EACH OTHER! emoticon

Penny you are right weights and measurements can not be taken into a lawyer to hurt you. Your journals about your divorce is what happened to me, only it was therapy notes that were taken. That is why I will not write anything down even in the journaling group that we go to, I do art things for it.
