Don't worry I have been gone for a long time too.. but burying our heads in the sand like Ostrich and pretending Sparkpeople has disappeared and we will get back to the diet tomorrow never works.

Next I am not a fan of low carb or any kind of low anything. With as much weight as we have to lose anything less than moderating portions of everything isn't going to work. The quick fixes are ok for those that want to lose 10lbs or less but otherwise I say eat what you enjoy but in moderation.

Next I have a lot of different things on the go to help me, I go to Weight Watchers because I love their program but I am counting calories on Sparkpeople because it plain makes more sense to me. The nutrition tool is great.

I signed up for Flylady to improve my home and MissusSmartyPants to help me look good as I lose weight and look forward to smaller clothes. I bought Paul McKenna's I can Make you Thin book off Amazon so I am incorporating his rules and hypnosis and all of this stuff is helping me do things that are not about shoving food in my mouth. For instance I am typing now.. hard to type and eat!

And then there is visualisation, something I am finding is helping me.. read my blog and see if maybe it is a technique that might help you?

I know how hard this is hun.. I have struggled and lost and gained for 46 of my 52 years now and that is tragic.. but it is going to be a lot more tragic if I never make it and have to die like this.

Don't feel helpless, get up and GO FOR IT! emoticon

First of all - keep a going ! That fact that you reached out and asked for help is huge ! For many of us, we've tried to hide ourselves and needs away. It takes a lot of determination to say " I need help". It also takes strength - which you can now claim ! When I'm in a rough place - which is more often than I'd like - I tend to spend more time on the Spark site. There is so much here besides just the weight issue. You can do this - and you ARE doing it if your active on the site.

It might help if you create small goals for yourself, losing 5 pounds, walking around the block, etc. Then give yourself a big pat on the back for achieving that goal. Each time you pass a goal it is a great self esteem boaster!

I have found that just knowing there are others like me out there who are struggling like I am is a comfort...I have also discovered that using the meal planner is a great boon for me, as I can see the different effects the combinations of food have. Thankfully, I work in an environment where ALL the employees are on diets, so there is little or no sabotage here; just support. However, the support I've received from SP has been TREMENDOUS, and getting on the site on a daily basis (except Sundays, when I have no access to the internet)has been INVALUABLE to me.
Granted, this is only my second week on this journey, but it's been a great 2 weeks and I can't see myself quitting any time soon!
I will be cheering for you as you start your journey with SP, and if you need support, just let us all know! WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!!!

One of the good things about Spark is that it offers support even when you stumble, even when you can't stick with the program all the time. There are some truly inspiring people here, and some of us who just kind of stumble along, and lots of us who just manage to make good and steady progress. It's wonderful. You have found the right place.

For me the key is the simple truth of ONE DAY AT A TIME.
I started Sparkpeople in December, did very well for a few weeks and then for some reason I just dropped out. I don't even remember why. The past week or so I've really felt I need and want to get back into SP, but until today I was not able to even do something as simple as tracking my food - which is a key factor in me making better food choices.
I am starting to feel hope again.
Just focus on today, tonight, the next hour. Just take control of whatever time and choices you can and make better ones.

I wish I could snap my fingers and make you self esteem issues disappear. Unfortunately, I can't.

What can I do to help?

I joined this several months ago but haven't done anything with it till now. I have been doing the low carb diet for the last five weeks, but, I am really struggling. I have a huge amount of weight to lose, like about 140 pounds, and I still won't be the weight I need to be. Weekends are really rough as I spend a lot of time with my daughter and grandchildren on weekends doing different sports and such. I really really want to do this. Long story, but my self esteem is probably at the lowest point its been for a long time. HELP!
