Okay, I saw my mid-wife (final check-up) and asked about the weight. She told me not to worry and that as long as I'm not crash dieting or working out in excess that it's just my body going back to the weight it wants to be. Going back to what my body thinks it should be won't effect my breast milk supply. So I guess I should just smile and be happy that my body is taking an active approach in returning me to the weight I'm meant to be because some women have a very hard time with that.

Someday is today!

I would say it's because it's the beginning of your weight loss, and it will probably even out. I would not worry about it too much unless your baby seems to not be getting enough-fussy, lethargic etc. It's highly unlikely. It's harder for a pumping mom to keep up supply but most mom's that only breastfeed usually don't have much problems, as long as they continue to feed on demand.

YOU DIDNT SAY HOW LONG AGO YOU HAD YOUR BABY SO IF IT IS RECENT IT COULD ALSO BE WATER WEIGHT. AFTER YOU HAVE A BABY THERE IS ALOT OF EXCESS FLUID OUR BODY NEEDS TO GET RID OF.

WHEN YOU BREASTFEED THE WEIGHT WILL COME OFF FASTER. MY FIRST 2 KIDS I LOST THE WEIGHT WITHIN 2 WEEKS BUT I DIDNT REALLY GAIN ALOT DURING MY PREGANCY. 14LBS(HE WAS 8.7) AND 16LBS(HE WAS 8.9). THE TWINS I GAINED 35 LBS BUT THEY WERE TAKEN 3 WEEKS EARLY AND WEIGHED 7.2 AND 7.8. I LOST THE WEIGHT PRETTY QUICKLY AND I THINK BREASTFEEDING PLAYED A HUGH PART. MY PROBLEM IS 4 MONTHS OR SO AFTER THE BABIES ARE BORN I GAIN WEIGHT. SO I WOULDNT BE TOO CONCERNED WITH LOSING THE WEIGHT QUICKLY. IT SHOULD START LEVELING OFF WHERE YOU WOULD STILL LOSE 2 LBS A WEEK SOMETIMES WITHOUT EVEN TRYING JUST BY BREASTFEEDING ALONE. JUST ENJOY YOUR TIME WITH YOUR CHILD AND ENJOY EACH MOMENT.

Everything I've read says that you should only lose 1 pound per week to avoid decreasing your milk supply. Last week I weighed in as 3lbs down. My non-official weigh in this morning (I weigh in on Thursdays) showed that I've already lost 2 more so quite possibly another 3lbs this week.

My thoughts:
1) I already had an abundant supply to begin with so maybe it's okay to lose the weight a bit faster?

2) I'll probably plateau in a couple of weeks for a while so it would average itself out right?

3) How can I possibly MAKE myself lose weight at a slower rate than I can, how discouraging.

Has anyone come across this issue before? Is the whole 1lb/week just a guideline? I only started losing weight because I increased the amount I was eating. So if my body was previously on starvation mode while still having a great supply does that mean the weight loss should be alright? I want my body back but I still want to make sure my little guy gets what he needs.

Someday is today!
