My last baby is down to about 1 feed a day and I'm sad! But remembering all of the things that is enjoyable about not nursing! And hopefully it will help me finally lose weight. :/

My daughter is 1 and we have been starting to wean and drop feedings. It's exciting, but I think that it'll be hard. Right now, she's only nursing 3-4 times a day. She is able to communicate to me when she wants milk, so I feel bad not giving it to her.

Sounds like you weaned at the right time for you, although you miss it.

I can't wait to wean my DD -- I really hate breastfeeding. BUT, I am committed to giving her one full year. emoticon

Awesome, so happy you were able to nurse all three. that's great. 20 months though is really extra grace. I mean...I am not saying it wasn't fantastic. But, I know in American society today we've got it for some reason in our heads that anything over 12 months is nuts. lol But, children usually don't naturally wean till 2 to 4 years old. Sometimes up to 7 years. So 20 months is very very natural and nothing you would have to explain to people about going to. If you know what I mean.

My son was 6 weeks premature, and I gave him extra grace with breastfeeding because of that. At 20 months he finally weaned because of teething his canine teeth. Clearly "pain" was the reason he stopped, but the weaning had been long-coming, and it's a gift from God. Although my weaning was emotional and dark--as this may be my last child and I was savoring the breastfeeding bonding with him. Now, a 3 weeks later, I am beginning to enjoy the freedom. I do miss cuddling him at my bosom, but I also know he's well old enough to be without.

My other 2 kids weaned at 15 months and 12 months.

I am happy to have had the blessing of nursing all my children.
