Thursday already, I can't believe it!!! It will be another busy busy day for me.

It's getting really hard for me to get out in the mornings since it is dark. I did meet my friend at the track to run last night. I felt like I needed to take the window of opportunity to get it done since the weather is so unpredictable right now as far as rain. We haven't gotten tons of rain at all, just that we never know when it will be raining. So I met her and did the workout that was supposed to be for today. That meant three days in a row of running. A few years ago I would have though nothing of that, but now, not so sure it is a great idea. But this morning I feel fine. I've done a little better with my strength training this week too, maybe that is helping.

This morning I wanted to walk but I couldn't predict the weather so I put clothes out for the treadmill and for outdoors. Then I didn't want to get out of bed, but I did, and there wasn't time for much but I did get outdoors and do a short walk. I am glad. It wasn't raining though it is very damp. I want to get outside as much as I can. I am going to do more strength training today and then tomorrow is my rest day.

Becky, my husband used to always order dessert "to share". He wanted it but knew he wasn't supposed to have it, so he would order it and hope that I would eat most of it. I finally got him to stop that for the most part but he still wants to eat unhealthy food all of the time! Ugh!

Have a great day!

Good Morning!

Today we were suppose to go to the lake for our run/walk but we have rain coming so I'm thinking it'll probably be the treadmill today. Yesterday I took our young dog to the lake to walk/run him a bit. That wasn't fun. I found he was scared of everyone and would constantly run in front of me. I'm surprised I'm not hurting more than I am.

Well, the eating plan has continued to be off. I'm gaining everything I've lost. How I can gain a lb a day is beyond me. So frustrating. I had to go to my moms yesterday so I told DH if he wanted to go to one of the sandwich places and grab lunch and bring it home that was fine. I wanted a turkey with sprouts. So, yes he got me that along with soup! The soup was good of course. Cream of wild rice w/chicken. Not low cal. by no means. He keeps doing this to me. I don't understand why everyone keeps thinking of me when it comes to too much food. I was so stuffed after lunch again. They don't understand since I've been watching my calories, that I fill up and I can't eat as much. You can't save these sandwiches cuz they put some type of oil on them. It'd be really soggy by the time I would eat it. I guess I need to start spelling out what I want and don't want.

Well, I guess it's the treadmill this morning. My son would rather go tomorrow. Thats fine. I can get more time in on the treadmill then.

We should have another warm day tomorrow and then it'll start cooling for the weekend and then next week pretty cool. I've had to turn the A/C on the last 2 evenings just to cool it down in here. Otherwise it's too stuffy. We haven't had much of a breeze.

My sleep has been off and on. I was doing really well and then for some reason my hip started hurting again at night and I had a couple of restless nights so now it's off. I slept pretty well last night but I wasn't ready to get up when I did. If it's a rainy day, it'll feel like a nap day.

I suppose I should get moving here. We were suppose to have a new roof put on today but that'll depend on the weather.

Have a nice day!

Becky

Good Morning, yes, the weeks do fly by don't they? I have a couple of people in my life who complain constantly about time going by so slowly and I am just like WOW, not for me! Not for me at all!

It is raining, or supposedly it is. The radar is green from the remnants of Beta I guess, but it doesn't look like it is doing too much so it must be mostly evaporating. I didn't think it was supposed to do this until tomorrow. Anyway, I didn't go for a walk this morning. I am hoping to do something this afternoon instead if it clears up but we will have to see. I would like to do tomorrow's training plan this afternoon but that would mean running three days in a row and I am not sure if that is smart. But tomorrow it is supposed to rain for sure and I am just not confident with my treadmill so I don't know.

It is supposed to be hot this weekend and then next week lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s, for us, very definitely fall weather - our average high for this time of year is closer to 80. I feel like this year we have a good chance for some nice fall color.

I am always working on sleep (getting enough and better quality), so I've been trying to get to bed a little bit early this week. It seems to be working but it also helps that the nights are cooler so it isn't so terribly hot in our bedroom.

Well, gotta get to work. I've been making a lot of progress the past couple of days. I am probably going to take a day off next week. It's just one day but it will still be wonderful!

Good Morning!

Yesterday was a beautiful day until the Asain Beetles came out! They can stay outside but they gravite to the windows and doors and somehow they can get thru the smallest cracks and into the house.

My son and I went down to the lake yesterday morning. He pushed me a bit. Still a run/walk but my run started out faster which isn't great for me, but helped me when I slowed it down. I was able to breathe really good and concentrate on my stride to make sure I kept my stride short so I wouldn't aggravate my hip. That also allowed me to run farther without having to walk. It was still a short distance run/walk but it felt good. If its not raining tomorrow, we'll do it again. Otherwise we'll do it on Friday.

I can't believe it's already Wednesday. These weeks are just flying by. Yesterday really felt like Fall. It was warm and we did have to turn the A/C on to cool it down in the house but the trees are slowly starting to turn now. The garden Center got loads of pumpkins in and they're setting up their Fall displays. I love Fall. The smells, the colors, the food! I just wish it lasted longer and Winter was shorter.

Today will be walking. Not sure if it'll be walking the dogs or just getting out and walking by myself. Either way, I'll have to get some exercise in.

Have a nice Wednesday!

Becky

Happy Fall Y'All!!! What a year, and now autumn is here. it's been a crazy year in more than one way too, this weather is something for the people on the west and the gulf coast, yes. We had the tornadoes here in March. People are wishing the year away but I am not because who knows what 2021 will bring. It could be worse. I hope not though! I keep hoping for the best and trying to live in the moment. I do tend to be a worrier but I am still counting my blessings, and I have many!

My training was a progression run this morning, warm up and cool down and then 20 minutes at a slow pace and 10 minutes at a fast pace. I seem to NEVER be able to reach the pace it says for the fast pace. This morning I was off by 38 seconds for that 10 minutes. Ugh. But it was much faster than my slow pace so I guess at least I am doing it! It's still progress. Becky your weather sounds great, it was not even that warm here this morning, around 50 for my run and it's only supposed to be 74 for the high. We've got some rain coming and then the 80s for a few days but but then they are saying it will be even cooler with lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s. We will see if that happens.

Well, back to work I go! I made a lot of progress yesterday but I still have a long way to go!

Good Morning and Happy 1st day of Fall! emoticon

It's a beautiful morning. 61 degrees right now. Im going to the lake with my son this morning so it'll be short and probably quite a bit of walking. That's ok. My hip has been acting up at night and I haven't slept well the last 2 nights. We walked the dogs yesterday and it felt so good. It gives me trouble when I try and sleep. It's getting old and I should really call and see about another injection. I'll end up waiting as long as possible.

That food truck sounds good! That would not be good for me. I gained from eating a big breakfast and whatever I had on Sunday. Now I have 2 lbs to get rid of again. So tired of this. I know I shouldn't be running today. I should just be walking right now, but the scale tells me different. It doesn't really matter if I walk or run. I will hurt so I might as well do as much running as I can.

We're seeing a little summer weather this week. 80's today and tomorrow. It'll feel nice again. I'm not ready to put the shorts and t-shirts away. I could have this weather all year round. I love my seasons and I love getting a little snow. Just wish our Winter season would be a little shorter. I guess I should be enjoying our weather though. I wouldn't want what CA and the Gulf Coast are getting now.

Our schools will all be going hybrid next week seeing as our numbers are going down. That's good for the kids. They're also going to start up sports again. It's time for some normalcy. This virus isn't going to go away anytime soon. We can't keep putting life off anymore. We just need to deal with it. We know what we have to do by now. Penalize the ones that refuse to follow the rules. Not the ones that do.

Well, time to get moving. I need to get ready to get out.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Becky

Happy Monday! Another beautiful day. And another week of opportunity and joy!

Well, I did my run on the treadmill this morning. I have kind of decided I should do at least one a week on the treadmill to prepare myself physically and mentally in case I can't get out this winter and I need to use it. I worry about my gait being off and injuring myself, and the thing isn't do so great as far as the incline, but I am going to keep trying to use it. I set the incline to automatically adjust today and it squeals when it goes to 1% but anything else it is fine. The problem is though that when I use the incline, the display on it showing my pace, etc, turns completely black, so I can't read it. That is not the worst thing that could happen and I can still run on it, it's just more of a hassle. So today I set it the incline to auto and it would run at 0% for two minutes and then 4% for two minutes, then repeat. Did that for 50 minutes. It was okay but we will see how my knees and everything are tomorrow.

My husband found out about a food truck that came to our city yesterday, so we went there and got our dinner, which was Nashville hot chicken. Yum but not healthy for sure! It is skinless tenders but it is deep fried sooooo....with french fries. I only ate two tenders but they are big. I have one left so I will have that on a gluten free waffle this morning. Not healthy at all but so delicious.

Well, back to work for now! I am really behind this month and I want to take at least one day off next week so I have to hit it pretty hard this week to make that happen! Have a fabulous day!

Good Morning!

Opted to head to the lake yesterday. It was mostly walking with a little running towards the end. It was cool and breezy but not too bad. Afterwards I came home and there was a cinnamon roll sitting there for me. I'm like what the heck? Didn't eat it. It's still there this morning. Hopefully I can get DH to eat it. They are so good. I did really well yesterday but I cooked and had the boys over. We had pie for dessert and the boys wanted a fire last night so I had a S'more. Just 1 but still. It's 1 too many. I had leg aches over night so I won't be doing any running this morning. Maybe walking this afternoon. I'll let the scale tell me what I'm going to do today. I need to go to my moms. Plus I have some cleaning to do. I should get out in the yard and do some work there too. We'll see what I get done today. It's going to be a beautiful week. Warmer temps for us.

Have a nice Monday!

Becky

I love pancakes myself, I used to not eat them at all because of gluten sensitivity and syrup has always made me sick (reflux). Lately though I have had pancakes and they are sooooo good! This morning DH and I went to a park and walked and fed the squirrels. The squirrels are quite tame there from being fed and my husband loves squirrels (he raised two from babies and then released them when we were much younger). It was a nice morning for a walk, temps in the mid-50s, very low humidity. We grabbed some breakfast after that. I have gotten so I am not into traditional breakfast food. This place has a chia bowl that I absolutely love but it is 1,000 calories so nope, didn't have that. It will be a good treat for sometime later. I got a pesto quinoa chicken bowl. It is bad enough, 550 calories. That would be fine if I didn't snack a lot through the day but I can't have that many calories if I am going to be snacking a lot. Anyway, the flavors of this bowl are out of this world. It's got kale, chicken, sundried tomatoes, quinoa, pesto and feta. Squirt of lemon juice. It is wonderful. My DH got a pumpkin pancake, so I sampled. Yum.

I would love to get my Monday run done, we will see. I have a lot to do today. I was really tired yesterday after my run. Back in the day I would do my long run on Saturday morning and then come home and take a long hot Epson salt bath and get some rest, maybe a little cat nap. Now I rush home and shower and don't stop at all because my DH is waiting for me. It is good for me to keep moving after I run so I don't stiffen up but I think I am not giving myself enough recovery time.

I am finishing up my coffee. DH played another online RPG on Friday night and has another one today so I am going to pick up groceries at Kroger then I will decide about my run.

Good Morning!

Gloria-That sounds really good. I used to be a fan of Perkins but they went downhill. I only like to go there when I'm hungry for pancakes. It'd be much cheaper for me to just make them at home. They used to give you different flavors of syrup too but with Covid all you get is reg. syrup in a cup. I gained that 1 lb from that breakfast though so now it'll take me a week or longer to take it off again. Why do I bother? It's just 1 big depressing roller coaster.

I'm cooking dinner for my kids today. I told them they could watch the game over here if they'd like. Not sure if they will and I'm totally ok with that. If it wasn't for cooking and stuff, I'd go to the lake this morning. I'll probably just go on the treadmill and get it over with this morning. We'll see in awhile. I need to burn some calories.

It was quiet at the Farmers Market yesterday. They had alot of stuff. Just not alot of people. Maybe we just got down there earlier. I got everything I wanted. Today it's suppose to be warmer. My son wants a fire tonight but the wind is suppose to pick up so I'm not sure it that'll happen.

Time to finish my coffee and see where I'm going to get my exercise in.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Becky

Hello! I am late myself today, we ran and it was late when I got home so then hubby and I went to breakfast and then I got coffee so I am just now home and settling in. My breakfast was amazing, we went to a local place that has some unusual stuff. This is a bowl, has black beans, quinoa, corn, sweet potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, queso fresco and chicken. It is sooo good! It's on their lunch menu but I always get it for breakfast. We don't have Perkins here but I have never really been a fan of it.

It was on the national news about the Nashville mayor and how he was supposedly trying to cover up the number of cases there so he could keep stuff closed down. But then it was proven that story was all a political ploy and not at all true. But with all of the political divisiveness going on right now, people believe it is true and won't be convinced otherwise. Nashville is in a heap of trouble financially and has been for decades due to fiscal mismanagement. There would be no good reason to keep stuff shut down for long because the sales tax is a major source of revenue here. We don't have income tax. So what does the mayor have to gain by keeping stuff shut down? Other than trying to keep the Covid numbers down because it is a huge tourist destination and people are refusing to wear masks or social distance. Nashville had some of the highest Covid numbers in the nation so this was all for a good reason. People are just being so illogical about all of this. The poor mayor there inherited this huge mess and now he is the scapegoat and people hate him.

I got my run in this morning. It was terrible. The weather was great but my legs were tired and I didn't do well. BFF wanted to do 11 miles. We did 10. I am not ready for 10 but my race is in five weeks so....I feel I have a little time to increase the distance and boost my endurance but I still think I won't be ready. We walked a lot. It was about 50 with a breeze for the start, perfect running weather, so I wore short sleeves but put on a very light jacket that I could take off after we got warmed up, because the wind gets to me. We tried a new route and everyone was telling us what a great route it is, but we didn't like it. First of all, we were on busy roads with fast traffic and that was scary (no sidewalks here). Then we went down this road, which I think was the wrong one, and there was a gravel pit or something back there so the road was super dusty and there were tons of dump trucks going up and down the road, and that was awful. We started out okay and then we got on that busy stretch of road and I was in front and I was trying to run fast so that we could get off that road. Then we got off that road and on that gravel stuff and it was so dusty and gross and we walked and pretty much ended up walking the last couple of miles. BFF wanted to do another mile but I just couldn't. Right now I feel okay with about six and that is it.

Well, now I need to get moving and see what I can accomplish around this house!

Good Saturday Morning!

I"m late to get on this morning. I did a quick treadmill workout and then got cleaned up and headed to the Farmers Market and then breakfast. Was going to walk the dogs afterwards but my breakfast would've been a coffee and either a muffin or scone. DH had other ideas. Ended up at Perkins which was a mistake for me. Now my stomach is churning so it's going to have to be a later walk. I told him I won't do this anymore. I'd grab an apple fritter from the Farmers Market before I'll go and have a big breakfast again. Plus now all of my calories are used up. Technically I can't eat anymore today. Ugh!!! Never listen to an unhealthy eater!

My goal was to get 10,000 steps in today. I still have plenty of time so we'll see. It might end up being tomorrow.

Numbers are looking better in our County now. Next week the University will have a phased reopening unless something comes up with the numbers. The State had a backlog of positives which we got yesterday. 100 cases but they came from as early as June. Not sure where they were and by now those people either are recovered or didn't think they had it and continued to spread the virus. They are now waiting for sports to resume. If they can resume sports than the kids can be back in school again. It's funny how schools always seem to put sports ahead of education. That's my opinion. Contact sports should not be allowed. Not here anyway. We'll see what happens.

Time to get back to getting things done. It's too nice of a day to be sitting and doing nothing. I just need to be near a bathroom for now.

I hope you're having a wonderful Saturday!

Becky

Happy Friday! 36 degree ohmygoodness!!!! Chilly for sure. Becky, that should really get your fall colors going! We don't get our peak for fall really until late October but I did see some very small maple trees with some color on their tips. It's supposed to be around 50 tomorrow for our long run. Highs in the 70s. That is not cold and is really great running weather but not what we are used to right now so it will definitely seem like Brrrrr. Most people will love it, I will be too cold, ha!!!

I rested yesterday, did a very tiny bit of upper arm work and should have walked or done some more strength as today is my real rest day and I don't want to push my luck since I run tomorrow. I might do some more upper body but I don't want to mess my legs up.

Numbers here are still low and Nashville will be moving to phase three. There is a lot of outcry and political backlash because they didn't move to phase three sooner. Well, their numbers were very high and maybe what they have been doing is the reason their numbers are low right now. No one is really acknowledging that possibility, that maybe being open on a limited basis has actually made a difference in the spread. I have another friend that might have it too. I haven't been exposed to her either, thank goodness. My DH is the exact opposite of me, he thinks we should be back to life as usual. If he gets sick he will not be a good patient. When he had H1N1 a few years ago it lasted over two weeks and he was terrible to deal with - haha, just like a man!!!! emoticon I am just afraid if one of us gets us, we will be one of those with the serious complications. Ugh, that is so scary.

Well, have a terrific Friday! I've got a very busy work day ahead but hopefully I will be more productive than yesterday - yesterday I kept getting interrupted all day long and could hardly get anything done.

Good Morning!

So, it's cold this morning! Only 36 degrees! No furnace though. I closed everything up early last night.

I went on the treadmill yesterday morning and went longer than planned. I ended up mowing my moms lawn and my son did the trimming. No dog walk but I still got my 10,000 steps in. I finally am down 1 lb.! It takes so much for me to get that. So tired of this. Still about 10 lbs to go and I want it off before the holidays!

It's going to be a rest day for me. I'll be with my mom this morning and then I've got some errands to run this afternoon. I guess with the temps cooling down, it's time for me to start going thru my clothes and getting some Winter things out. Not ready for sweaters and I don't think they'll be needed anytime soon but you never know.

I saw on the weather channel that the cold is going to be affecting some areas South. They showed Atlanta and it's going to be Brrr for them! It's short lived. We will have above normal temps next week. Not hot but possibley low 80's.

They tested 2500 people in 2 days. Now to see what they results are. The exhaustion and fatigue were the things that I've been hearing too. Simple things like trying to walk upstairs. And it does drag on. I just don't think people think that stuff is a big deal until they have to deal with it themselves. I have also heard that it takes a long time. It's not influenza thats gone in a few days. Last night when I went to bed, I felt something in my throat and so I'm panicing, wondering if I'm coming down with something. i'm fine this morning. It was most likely from cutting grass or the cold breeze blowing in the house earlier in the day. I haven't been around too many and I keep my distance. I would've had to have gotten it from the lake and I'm 6 feet away from people most of the time unless I'm passing someone while running.

I suppose I should get going here. I have to make sure I'm ready and out the door in time this morning!

Have a wonderful Friday!

Becky

Good Morning! I did go and run with my friend last night at Fleet Feet but she ended up running with someone else and I ended up running alone so I think I will just stick to my regular routine going forward. And since I was tired from that and got to bed late, I didn't get up and run this morning, and I kind of regret that. I think that kind of helps me clear my head and get going. But really the biggest thing for me right now is figuring out what to do since it is dark in the morning.

My run last night was good. That was the run I was supposed to do this morning. It was hot, my Garmin said it was 85 but I think it was closer to 82 and luckily there was a light breeze. I did pretty well, didn't walk much - did have to stop to cross a street once. And I think I walked once for a very short time somewhere in the middle. I felt like I was tired and I didn't want to run but hopefully that was from the heat.

Our numbers here are pretty low, some days we will have a spike in new cases but in our county all of the kids are in school full time now (except the very few that chose virtual) and the kids are doing sports. Nashville's numbers have been low too and their kids are still virtual but they are planning sports and going back to in class school in October. Most people here think it is fake or that is the flu or that it is past us but I believe and have always believed it will get a lot worse in the winter, just like the flu. And I wholeheartedly agree with you Becky, I don't want it. My friend that had it, she says the exhaustion and fatigue are terrible and the recovery is long. I don't have time for that or being sick at all. I always choose to be well, why would ANYONE ever want to be sick, these people are crazy because flu is no fun and games either and this is worse for a lot of people. Every day I argue with my husband about eating out. He thinks it is fine. I do not agree - they say eating out increases the chance of getting it by a lot. He is one of those who doesn't worry about it but he is one who is high risk so I guess I am the one who worries instead. emoticon

Well, have a great day, Becky, people are going to do what they are going to do. I try not to worry but it I know it is hard not to. Go out and have a great run and enjoy the cooler weather!!!

It was another beautiful day yesterday. When I left my moms, I thought I'd come home and we'd take the dogs for a nice walk. Well, DH had already walked them so I changed my clothes and went down to the lake for a walk. Lots of people down there but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be walking. It was just so nice. Nice breeze and low 70's for temp. It was just nice being outside.

It's much cooler this morning. 46 degrees and we're only suppose to get to 63 today. As long as the sun is out, it doesn't matter. It'll feel warmer.

Today is my run/walk day. My son and I need to cut my moms grass and I want to walk the dogs. In another words, I want my 10,000 steps in! I was almost there yesterday. My week is off this week. I won't be able to do my run/walk tomorrow like I usually do. I may do my run/walk part on the treadmill today. Right now my total running is only 1-1.5 miles for the most part. Any more than that and my hip really hurts. On really good days I've gone up to 2 miles but right now that's not going to happen. When I get enough running in, I stop and walk the rest of the way. I find that calorie wise, I don't burn too many more calories with running than just walking. So sometimes I think whats the point. It gets my heart rate up which makes me feel mentally better so thats why I do it.

They just finished up testing here. It was free and open to everyone. The first day they had 1300. Not sure how they did yesterday. I know it was slower. There are the ones that are arguing against testing. It's a waste of time when you don't feel sick and deaths aren't high so whats the deal? I have talked to more people who have had it or know someone who has and although they didn't need to be hospitalized, they were sick and they will tell you over and over it wasn't the flu! Nothing like the flu and they say it's no laughing matter. Some say they get to feeling better and then bam! They're sick again. It's a slow process to get to feel normal again. I don't want that. I don't want to chance being that sick. I don't want to be in the hospital. Anyone that gets the flu now is going to panic. Wondering if its Covid. It's not going to be a great flu season. Now they're going to start up sports. There shouldn't be any spectators in the stands but still. During a time when the numbers are at their highest, we shouldn't be pushing more things. Plus if the HS students can play sports, they can be in school.

Time for breakfast!

Have a nice Thursday!

Becky

Hello!

Still warm and muggy here. They keep promising cooler weather ahead. Right now they say we will have lows around 50 very soon and that will seem cold to us for sure. BFF asked me to run with her this evening. I need to do either morning or evening, not both. I always get my schedule messed up if I do both. And today is a walk day, not run. But I will meet up with her. I did a short walk this morning, not my usual three because I got off to a late start and I also want to test the waters - yesterday after my right knee acted up while running, I felt like I had plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, sore hamstring and sore glute, but all on the left side instead of the right. So I am thinking I need to lay low again but I already told her I will be out there tonight and I did fine walking so maybe it will be okay.

It seemed like yesterday our county had a higher number of new Covid cases, not sure if that was just a fluke or maybe it is because all of the kids are back in school - I watch the trends so I will see how things look today.

I've got continuing education all morning until after lunch. I think it will be a good one, not too boring.

Enjoy the day!!!!

Wednesday already? Where is this week going?

Yesterday I decided to head to the lake instead of the treadmill. I got moving and allowed myself 30 min. Well, just into the start my mom called and told me she wasn't going to be able to make it to her appt. So now I could stay down there and enjoy the weather! And it was perfect. It was breezy but not a cold breeze. It really felt like Fall. A few of the trees are slightly turning. I got down there early so it was much quieter. That I liked. It was mostly runners and older people down there. Not all the kids. I went to my moms afterwards, then came home, ate lunch and then walked 1 dog. All in all, it was a nice day. I got in over 11,000 steps! If I could have most days like yesterday I think I'd see the scale move down.

Today we'll try again for the hair appt. I won't go to the lake today. At least not this morning. I still need to figure out when to cut my moms grass.

No rain in the forecast at all this week. Just what we need. I should be able to accomplish quite a bit.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Becky

Good Morning! A family who owns a farm told me about the potatoes but I looked it up online and can't find anything about freezing them. She doesn't blanch them or anything. Sounds like tomatoes would be pretty easy. I should tell my mom because my sister ran off with her canner so she can't can them anymore and it upsets her because she wants to do that. Maybe she can freeze them instead.

I really don't like running in the dark at all but with my work schedule I don't know if I have any other choice. It has always been this way. For a while I did my runs on my lunch hour during the winter time and that was okay but I was a lot faster then and could get my training done in that time frame. Not sure now I could do that. Once the weather is cooler I will run at 3 pm and then work more after that. I don't like that but what can I do. When I commute to the office I go in to work in the dark and I get home in the dark. Right now I can work around that but it is too hot to go during the day. I had those bad falls and one took me out of commission for over a month since I had a concussion but I've found this well lit route. As far as people, I'm using LiveTrack on my Garmin, I've got my WearSafe and I have a Nathan personal alarm that is very loud if I use it. I'm still nervous and I try to be hyper-alert - watching shadows and all of that.

So this morning's run was in the dark, I am sort of worried about skunks too. We live in the city but it is crazy how much wild life we have, I see hundreds of deer in my short runs. And I know skunks are plentiful around here. My run was okay but my knee really acted up today and I couldn't run so much. I can't say it is from using the treadmill or not...I wouldn't think so because I didn't run yesterday (I walked) but odd that it was so bad today. I might ice it and see if that helps. I had speed work today, I did do that, but for the rest of the run I mostly had to walk, which was kind of disappointing.

It looks now like we will get NO rain from the hurricane. But then like you said Becky, they seem to not know. Our local meteorologist said it could still turn and give us a lot of rain but since it is moving slow, they aren't sure.

I used to cook them down a bit because thats the way my mom did it. She used to can the old way by putting them in jars. Lately when I did it her way, the tomatoes would taste watery and really didn't have much of a flavor. I've seen so many that just stick them in hot water to get the skin off and then cut them up and stick them in freezer bags and freeze them. So I'm giving it a shot. We had alot of smaller tomatoes and I was given some also. Too many to eat and we've been throwing too many out. I have never heard of freezing potatoes unless of course they're mashed or something. We've frozen corn and beans in the past but the last time I froze corn, it was really chewy. I guess I didn't blanch it long enough. Plus if you blanch it too long, its mush when you take it out. I'm fine with frozen corn and beans.

I got everything done that I wanted to get done yesterday. Today it's going to be warmer. We should see the 80's again for 1 day. I just wish we'd have temps in the upper 60's to low 70's. It's warm enough but not too warm. No A/C or furnace weather.

I'm going to have to get on the treadmill this morning. I have to take my mom for her appt. and then I always visit with her afterwards. I should just come home and change and go to the lake but by that time there'll be too many people down there. It used to be much quieter down there once school started, but since Covid, more people have gotten out and now since school is goofy and more parents have to be home, they're down there more. I'll go down there tomorrow morning instead.

They can't predict that hurricane for anything this time. I haven't seen anything about it this morning but last night it had slowed down so now I dont know where and what its suppose to do. Someone is going to get alot of rain though. I'm glad our rain is done. I've got to get outside and get some stuff done. I've got a couple of plants that need planting before it gets too cold. Not sure if they'll survive. They're not for our zone. I ordered them because I thought they'd be cool but they haven't done anything in the pots I have them in. I'll cover them for the winter and see if they come back next year.

No running in the dark for me. I'd for sure trip on something. I need to see where I'm going plus I no longer trust people. We live in a pretty safe area but still.

I hope everyone has a nice Tuesday! 50's are cold when you're not used to them! 60's in the house and outside during the summer months are great but all of a sudden when the temps drop at night and it gets into the low 60's in the house it's time to turn the furnace on. Don't quite understand.

Becky

Happy Monday! Becky, how do you freeze tomatoes? Do you blanch them? My mom always canned most of our stuff, including the tomatoes, and froze a few things like peas and corn. My sister cans but I have never done it. I now wish I did but with my work schedule and all, it is just too much for me. Someone told me recently they freeze potatoes and I think I want to try that. I had never heard of it before, not sure how it could work but it is worth a shot.

I feel like my gait is all off on the treadmill. But I agree Becky, if something happened to this one, I would need a new one. This one was a very nice one when we got it but now it is old and the incline makes a racket at 1% incline, which is what I would run it on all of the time but the squealing noise it makes is horrible. I really want something newer and more modern but DH thinks that we should just fix this one and I can't disagree with that since I hardly use it. If I did use it a lot, it would be a different story. I would need a better one.

It's getting so hard to get out and exercise in the morning since it is dark. I feel that being outside in daylight is very important but now it is at a point where it is dark when I go. I am very apprehensive about it. Last year I ran at night and it scared me but I found a good route that was very well lit so I made it work but I just think it is imperative to get out in the daylight and that is not happening. I did go this morning and I did walk three miles. My husband has watched me with my NoxGear and he says I can be seen from about a quarter of a mile away but still this morning I thought someone didn't see me and I jumped onto someone's yard, which I didn't want to do since the grass was so wet. The humidity is 98% and I was lucky there wasn't fog. Tomorrow morning should be really nice and now they are saying the hurricane will track south of us so we shouldn't get as much rain from it. It will be good running weather! They are predicting lows in the 50s by mid-week and that is going to seem so COLD!!! Haha!!!

Good Morning!

Another Monday! We got to sleep in this morning. DH forgot to set the alarm. He had it turned off from last Monday. Oh well. He just has to walk a few feet to go to work anyway.

I made it down to the lake yesterday. It was a beautiful morning to be out. Shorts and a light jacket. I was comfortable but I could've gone without the jacket. I didn't overheat so that's fine. It turned into a shorts and t-shirt day finally. Plus ceiling fans going and windows opened. I haven't had windows open in over a week.

The treadmill isn't all that bad now. When you're scrunched for time, it's a relief. I think it's when it's Winter and you want to be outside but you can't and you have to be on it all the time. I told DH if anything ever happened to it, I'd go out and buy a new one. That's the one thing I'd always have.

We needed to freeze tomatoes yesterday but by the end of the day, I was hurting. That's the first project I need to do this morning now. Then it's cleaning. I told everyone I was not leaving the house today. I will walk the dogs this afternoon if I'm feeling up to it and everything is done.

I enjoy apple picking. This is the first time we've gone to this place. It's nice. On the weekend they have music and usually a food truck and craft beer. When it's cold they have a bonfire too. The other orchard where we normally went was catered more for kids. They have a petting zoo and some other activities for them. You get more exercise there cuz their orchard is more on a hill. You can have them take you up there or you can walk. Plus you can pick what you want. There we usually pick a variety of apples.

I need to really finish up here and get to those tomatoes. I'm afraid the day is going to fly by.

Have a wonderful day.

Becky

Sunday, the weekend flew by as always! I did my run on the treadmill this morning. I suspected it would be this way with the weather coming in. I haven't used the treadmill in a long time and I just told myself that if the weather was bad I had to do it. It was kind of nice not having to get up and get ready to go somewhere to run. Just threw on the shorts and top and stuff, and went down and jumped on there. My incline is messed up but I did manually increase and decrease that for about a minute at a time periodically because it is so hilly here and the race that I am supposed to do, if it happens, is super hilly. My pace was good this morning, not sure I trust my Garmin on that though. I really need to get a foot pod. Actually, I have an off brand one, I need to change the battery in it and use it to at least give me an idea if I am on Target. I can't tell from the treadmill itself, it is not accurate either. My training run for tomorrow that I did today was 45 minutes, so that is what I did.

We are having tons of rain and it is flooding. One interstate in Nashville had to be shut down. The street in front of the next door neighbors' house was covered in water and the area between our property lines was completely flooded. There was fast water flowing on our COVERED patio - seems a lot better right now but wow, and it is supposed to rain for a few more hours. And then later this week we will probably get some rain from the hurricane. They are saying after that we will see temperatures in the 70s with lows in the 50s. That is going to seem pretty cold compared to what we've had for so long but it will be nice running weather!

Glad I picked up groceries yesterday, it is not a nice day for that today. I need to do a Kroger pickup order but can wait on that. It's such a good day to be inside. I am going to try out something in the Ninja multi-cooker tonight, not sure what. I have leftover Chinese food too. I got stuff for salads and smoothies - I just need to get back on track, maybe drop a couple of pounds. Work on strength training. Today, laundry, and I have one drawer of junk I want to clear out. I am trying to set smaller goals so that I can finish one thing and not get overwhelmed.

The apple picking sounds like a fun thing to do Becky, I don't know if there is an apple farm close to here or not. I need too find out. It would be good to get my DH out doing something.

A couple of times a week I have been having Nitro Cold Brew coffee from Starbucks, have gotten so used to that and now I am drinking regular coffee at home and ewwww! Wonder if I can learn to make cold brew at home. I even put some pumpkin spice almond milk creamer in it and it is so bitter to me!!!!

Well have a great day!!!

Good Morning!

I had a decent treadmill run/walk yesterday. It was slower but it didn't cause any issues with my hip. It was so gloomy. It didn't rain after lunch so we were able to go apple picking. It wasn't bad but the funny thing was it was muggy. We over dressed for sure. I got over 10,000 steps in which was good.

Seeing as the sun is shining today, I'm going to try and get to the lake for my run/walk or walk. Tomorrow will be my rest day. I've got so much to do around the house and I'm going to stay home and concentrate on getting everything done. I have to run a few things out to my moms after the lake and I've got tomatoes to freeze. I was going to make a big dinner today after the game but due to some issues, we're not watching the game and instead I'm going to get stuff done.

Numbers here seem to be staying the same, but across the river they're up again. Everything has to do with schools starting up. Hopefully the trends will start going down soon.

Well, we sort of slept in this morning so I need to get moving here.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Becky

Right now our feels like temperature is 98. It is miserable. When we got done with our run early this morning the feels like was around 83. The dew point is so high. It was a miserable run. I kind of figured after two rest days things would be good but it was so slow. We walked so much. We did my training plan and overall we were in the pace range even with all of the walking but ugh! And then we did a couple more miles after that and most of that was walking. We had originally planned ten miles but I just didn't want to go any further. I just felt like I couldn't run and my legs were so heavy. What is so funny is that the Garmin said my run was productive and my VO2 Max supposedly went up a point. Ha! It's going to rain today but that is going to be a warm front coming through. The cold front doesn't come until next week so it won't be nice for a few days I guess.

We had high numbers here day before yesterday, very high - that was after a very good day where I wonder if they didn't report, but the numbers yesterday were so bad that I can only assume it was because of the long weekend.. I haven't seen yesterday's numbers yet. There is a second school in one of the counties on the south side of Nashville that is having to close down due to too many sick kids.

We got breakfast at a very popular restaurant and I needed to refuel after my run so I got some avocado toast. It was so oniony that I couldn't even eat it. Even the egg was not good. I had a mini Kind bar when I got home, that kind of made me feel better. Now I think I can get up and get some things done around the house!!!

Another wet morning!

This is getting old. I took yesterday as a rest day also. Too many things to do in the a.m. and by the time I got home my eyes were burning and I felt like I was coming down with a cold. It's the same feeling I got when I started wearing a mask at work. I've been wearing them more the last couple of days with the errands and shopping Ive been doing.

It's going to be a treadmill morning again and I'm hoping the rain lets up so we can go apple picking after lunch. We're at least going for a couple of pies but we want to pick too. It's 7:30 and you'd think it was 6 as dark as it is. We also have some fog this morning. Right now I'd take that 80 degree weather again. It's too cold and damp here.

Our numbers were way down yesterday. They're waiting to see what will happen now after the long weekend. Then flu season should kick in. What next? Usually students bring back colds, etc. after the long weekend.

I should get moving here and find some breakfast. We had Chinese last night which didn't sit well with my stomach. It didn't help that I had restless leg last night and I needed to go and lay down. I got quite a bit of sleep even though I woke up a couple of times.

Have a nice day! I hope you are seeing sunshine!

Good Morning! I can't believe it is Friday already. If we were going in to the office today, we would be having a huge party with barbecue and we would all be wearing shorts. But I am so very grateful we can work from home.

Still warm here but the cold front is coming through so the weekend will be wet. After that we should see temperatures in the low to mid-80s instead of near 90. Don't know how the rain is going to affect the weekend run but I will have to work it out somehow.

Today is my OFFICIAL rest day of the week, but yesterday turned out to be one too. I didn't walk or run or anything. BFF texted me at around 3:30 and said she was at the track but I was still working then. After work I cleaned off my craft desk. I didn't organize the craft stuff, I just put it in boxes to sort through later. I hope that they have the consignment sale next year so I can sell more of it - of course the sale was canceled this year.

We had zero cases in our county yesterday, Nashville had cases of course. This is the first time in months that this has happened for our county (maybe since March or April, except for a time or two when they didn't report due to issues).

Well, back to work, I have TONS to do today!

Good Friday Morning!

It's another cold, dreary start. I asked for some rain and now it won't end. No sunshine whatsoever. Plus it's not warming up.

I did my workout on the treadmill again yesterday. Not too bad. I don't know how long I'll be able to do this though. Turned the furnace back on last night. Without any sun and having it wet, it makes it feel alot colder. It's 45 degrees this morning. No sunshine until Sunday.

Our numbers are down now. Not sure why. Hopefully it's a good sign. We went to Rochester yesterday and everyone wears masks there. Since its colder outside, it's much easier wearing them also.

No workout today unless I decide to do one this afternoon.

Have a nice day!

Becky

This weather is crazy and scary. It is so cold in some places, and then so hot in some places and all of this fire. Wow. It's warm here this morning, in the upper 60s still and supposed to be 90 for a couple of more days before it drops back into the mid to upper 80s. Then supposedly lower 80s next week.

Went and did 5k number two last night and it was 88 degrees and BFF and I talked the whole time so it wasn't as fast but still good and yes, still lots of walking but I am happy with that. I am supposed to run this morning as per my training plan but didn't, and don't know if I will. I remembered when I didn't run Sunday morning and took that day off and felt so much better for my Monday run. Also, as late as I got home, no way could I get rehydrated enough before bed, and of course I didn't sleep so great running that way and being so wound up from that. Maybe I will go later, maybe I will do something on the treadmill, maybe I will skip it, I don't know. It's supposed to be a short run, just 30 minutes.

An entire school district on the other side of Nashville is shutting down for a couple of weeks due to Covid. I don't know the details. I have a friend who works for one of the larger elementary schools in my county and she said it is not a matter of IF they shut down at some point, it is a matter of WHEN that will happen. She said of around 1,100 students at that school only about 175 are doing virtual full time and so now that all of the kids are back in session, there is pretty much no social distancing because there is no way that can happen with all of those kids. Elementary kids have been back to school full time for a couple of weeks now. The scary thing to me is that little kids can have it and have no symptoms so we might not know until adults get sick. And every day I have friends who are saying it's a hoax and fake, etc.

Well, gotta get to work I need to get so much done today!

It's cold again this morning. 41 degrees! I broke down and turned the A/C on to get the chill out of here. It won't be on long. It's too early for the heat to be on.

I did my treadmill workout yesterday morning. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. It really was painful afterwards. It didn't affect my sleep though. The cold did. I will walk today. I should wait till after lunch and then go to the lake. We're suppose to have sunshine today. I so wish I could do what I used to do. The scale would be moving down faster. Still is very slow.

It's already Thursday! I just can't believe how fast this week is going. It's going to be Fall before you know it.

Have a nice day!

Becky

Becky, that IS cold! That is about what we get for highs here in December. When I ran this morning here it was around 68 or 70. I could tell it was a lot warmer and that the dew point was higher than it has been these past few days.

5K for work this morning. Kind of weird not doing it with everyone at the office but this was actual really cool because they did online yoga, HIIT, spin/treadmill/elliptical in addition to the 5K/one mile race so that it was much more inclusive and a little more for everyone rather than just a run event. I incorporated my training run into the 5k and I did pretty well! I am never gonna be fast enough to win a race like this (I was always a middle of the pack kind of person, now more of a back of the pack person) but I am still very very happy of how well I did. I did have to walk quite a bit but I was still where I needed to be as far as overall pace. I need to slow down to the right pace because I go way too fast and then I have to walk - then my pace evens out to where it needs to be. So I just need to slow it down a bit.

The other virtual run is this evening, not sure if I will run it though, and it is going to be HOT!!! I will see how I feel.

Becky, I am not sure how the universities here are doing. I have heard of a couple of parties but in general, the numbers around here are much lower than they were. They are still not LOW but much lower than they were. Nashville had 62 new cases yesterday - for a long time they were having 300 or more a day and so this is a huge improvement. My county had 18 new cases yesterday - they were having around 50 or even 75 a day at one point, so again, not as bad as it was. I think we will see how things look at the end of this week - all of the Labor Day parties - numbers might go up from that. People here still think it's fake or just the flu. I still am being very cautious about going places and being around people. My husband wears his mask but I think he is only staying home because I think we should.

It's cold this morning! It's currently 46 degrees and only looking for a high of 49. I wanted it cooler but not this cool. Plus it's suppose to rain again today. We could almost turn the heat on this morning to take the chill out.

So I didn't run or walk yesterday. It would've been on the treadmill. My body just wasn't up to it. Physically and Mentally. Today it's much better. I think I'm finally caught up on my sleep.

Allie is much better. Not sure what happened with her. Maybe she did have a bad tummy ache. We'll be watching her for sure.

Our University came out and said they're doing a 2 week self Quarantine. No in person classes unless they are totally necessary and then they will have to be even more distanced. Some are glad they're doing it. Other community members are blaming them for starting even though many if not most of the classes are online. It was the students option to move in. The students all knew from the beginning what could happen. They were talked to, etc. about distancing and masks. Many didn't and still don't listen. Some people think the University should take money off of their tuition. Why? They still have to pay everyone. Teachers are still getting paid. People just don't understand how things work. I do because my DH works there. There are many meetings that have and are currently going on about Covid. In the end, it's up to the students. There's only so much a school can do. Anyway, I don't go very many places at the moment due to all of the numbers. I'm pretty much staying put. I like that I can go on my treadmill if need be. We haven't had rain most of the summer and now we can't turn it off. Was going apple picking on Saturday. So far thats not going to happen. Sunday is suppose to be nice but it's the football game and the kids all want to watch it. I on the other hand would gladly go apple picking!

Well, it's time I get moving here. The faster I move, the faster I will warm up! emoticon

Have a wonderful day!

Becky

Good Morning! Not Monday but maybe will seem like Monday! I am so grateful for this four day work week. My company usually has a big fund raising campaign in August and this week we weren't there for it so they delayed it to this week. It's virtual and a lot smaller but hopefully will be a lot of fun.

Becky, how is Allie?

It's gonna be around 90 here for the next few days and I just don't think the cooler weather that we were promised is going to get here just yet but it's okay, I am okay with it. It was nice for my walk this morning, about 65 degrees. Today the kids who are not doing virtual school all start back full time instead of hybrid so I was a little worried - not only is it dark when I first start out but there is a lot more traffic. It was okay though. I have my reflective gear and I suppose at some point when it is cooler I will just start work earlier and take a break later in the day and run. I think that will work okay as long as I get my work done and it doesn't interfere with deadlines or meetings. I work enough hours that it shouldn't matter!

I was able to get in the pool for a while yesterday, that was nice!

Have a GREAT day!

Good whatever day it is morning! emoticon

I haven't been able to get my days straight this weekend at all. Yesterday seemed like Sunday.
We went down to the lake. A little too late for me as there were lots of people there. I tried running but my right hip and leg wasn't having it. I usually can work it out but it was so stiff. At least I got a little running. My sons knee was bothering him also so we walked mostly. I'm ok with that. I suffered the rest of the day though. I'm not sure why I was like that. I didn't exercise on Sunday and I actually felt pretty good yesterday morning. When I got home, I stretched and had DH help me with some leg exercises that they did with me in PT.

It's only 50 degrees this morning. That's going to be the high for today. I guess we have rain coming for most of the day. In fact, it's suppose to be a wet week. I guess I'll be on the treadmill.

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend and I hope you have a nice day!

I am glad I waited until today to run. When I woke up yesterday I just wasn't feeling it at all, I was tired, didn't want to get up, but then it was foggy and my legs still felt tired from the day before. I am sure I would not have had a good run. I went this morning and it was great! Nice weather, I thought it would be foggy since it was almost 100% humidity and no wind but it was great! I was well rested and I felt good and the run was great, happy with the pace and no walking!!!! YAY! Now I am a little worried though because I am doing that 5K with Fleet Feet on Wednesday night and I remembered this morning that this week is the office 5K - going to be virtual this year of course, but I don't remember what day it is - either tomorrow or Wednesday morning - oops! That might be a bit much for me to do two right in a row!

Now weather.com says the cooler weather is NOT coming after all. Local meteorologists still say we are on target for cooler weather next weekend. I've enjoyed these cooler mornings, wish it could stay just like this!

Well, time to move along and see what I can accomplish today!

Good Morning!

The last day of Summer! School starts tomorrow for many.

Allie seems to be better. Still not sure what was going on with her and I think I still want to get her in to be checked over.

I was exhausted yesterday. I had no ambition to do anything. I tried to rest but there's always interuptions so I wasn't able to. I was going to cook a nice dinner. That didn't happen. I will do that today. It actually got pretty warm and humid yesterday. This morning it is 55 degrees and no humidity. We got quite a bit of rain which was needed. It looks like a wet week ahead too. I should be able to get quite a bit done around the house this week.

Today we're going out for a run with my son so it'll be a short one I'm sure. We used to go on nice runs together but its been downhill since. Even when I was cutting back, he'd continue on. Now it's the old lady with the aches and pains that goes farther.

Gloria-I'm glad we don't have those temps. I find I'm much more energetic right now with the cooler temps. Even my mind is clearer. It fogs up again when it gets too cold though. emoticon I just want upper 60's and lower 70's most of the year. It can get hot during the summer. As much as I love the snow, it lasts too long and I don't like the cold temps that come with it.

I hope everyone has had a nice weekend! Have a wonderful Monday!

Oh my goodness, I replied earlier, or at least I tried tried to, and then our Internet went out when I tried to post it. Ugh!

Becky, hope your dog is okay! We've had to use emergency vet services here, they are always very expensive and their reviews are bad. We have had pretty decent luck with them, we have used three different ones, all in Nashville. The one closest to us is small and doesn't have a lot of diagnostic equipment, so if they can't help they send us to one of the further places. They are very pricey and want the money upfront. All of them do a quick exam and determine what might need to be done and then they have you pay before they provide the service.

I didn't run this morning. It was cool and nice and I should have but I haven't been able to get to sleep lately. Once I do I sleep very well but I felt I needed more rest and lately I have been wishing I could take Sunday off after my long run because my legs are tired. I do my Monday runs on Sundays simply because it is easier with my job schedule. I didn't go early enough to meet with the group (usually I go there at 6:30 instead of 6:00 to miss the crowd for social distancing) but I didn't get out of the house soon enough so I thought I would go alone in my neighborhood but the fog was so bad and we don't have sidewalks so I didn't. I don't know if I will go later, it will be 88 degrees this afternoon. Tomorrow is supposed to be hotter and more humid and who knows, it could be foggy again so I will have to decide what to do.

Well have a great day, Becky, hope puppy feels better!

Good Morning!

It's a wet start. We've had rain since last night. I should know, I've been up all night. Our little dog is sick. She was in pain and I had to call the emergency vet which isn't our vet and is in Rochester. She was no help whatsoever. My little one is quiet right now but is still not feeling good. I really don't want to take her to that Vet. The reviews are mixed but the one common thing is they are really expensive and you have to wait quite awhile to get your animal in there. I'm hoping we can get her feeling better today and then on Tuesday I will make an appt with our Vet to get her in.

Yesterdays run wasn't too bad. It started off slow. It took me awhile to get my stride right. I was just off for some reason. It was a beautiful morning. It was a busy day. We walked the dogs in the afternoon so I got in over 10,000 steps. Hopefully it'll show on that scale this morning.

I was going to go out with my son this morning but I'm not going to be up to it at all. Later it's suppose to get hot and I see the A/C coming on. Then the big cool down comes. Lows in the 50's and highs only in the low 60's. Rain chances this week too. Yep, it's Fall!

Time for me to get going. I'm tired. Need to go and check up on my baby!

Becky

Ah! Happy three day weekend! Gosh, Labor Day, that is really like the end of summer isn't it? But I am one who keeps summer going as long as I can!

Just gorgeous weather here this morning, we haven't seen anything like this in a very long time. It was in the high 50s early when we ran. Today it will be in the mid-80s and then back to the 90s for a few days but they are currently predicting cooler temps for next weekend too, maybe even in the 70s with nights in the high 50s, low 60s. The low humidity feels amazing. If only we could keep this weather year round!

I did my long run with my BFF this morning. My plan called for 100 minutes, the plan she is doing called for nine miles. At first I was like no way am I doing nine miles, I am not ready for nine miles. But she has supported me and my training for so long (she was one of my first running mentors years ago when I started running) so I want to support her. I just can't go as fast as she can! So we did my minutes and ended up with about 7.5 miles and there were some hills that we walked (I intentionally found a hilly route) and then we did another two miles to finish off hers and got in about 9.5 miles. My legs are definitely feeling it. I had to walk a lot toward the end. But I am so glad I did it. I still have a few weeks till my race (it's October 24th) but I need to keep myself going so I am comfortable and ready with the distance (and the hilly course).

Fleet Feet is all doing a virtual 5k Wednesday night, I am going to do that with them. It is because it is to help out a local animal rescue here. I got one of my cats from that rescue in 1999 and that was Earl Grey, my most favorite cat ever (and I miss that cat terribly). So ever since then I have done what I can to support them. We won't be doing the race as a race but the Fleet Feet group runs every Wednesday and I will go and do it with them as a small group.

I am so happy, I don't have to work this weekend! I didn't get everything done that I wanted to yesterday but the one thing that I missed can wait until Tuesday!!!!!

Good Morning!

I didn't get out for a run or walk yesterday. I'm ok with that. I've got today.

We went out to eat last night. It was nice but I felt it overnight and I feel it this morning. I just don't do well with eating out at night.

Today we'll be doing our run/walk and then I've got some grass to cut. I should get my steps in today and burn off some of that food I ate last night. I'll eat much better today. We still have sweet corn to eat so possibly something on the grill to go with it.

It looks like we might see rain tonight and tomorrow. Highs tomorrow are supposed to be in the upper 80's which will be weird. Monday they drop. I'll continue to enjoy the rain right now. We still need it. Just as long as we don't have a really wet Fall.

Have a nice Saturday everyone!

Becky

Happy anniversary Becky! I hope you get to do something you enjoy, have a nice meal or something. It's a special day, enjoy it!

Yeah, I would be cold with that weather Becky. It is 73 here this morning no wind and dew point is 73 too, so humidity is like 99% but the cold front should be coming through later and that will take the humidity down a lot. It will be around 60 tomorrow morning which should feel incredibly nice, and then highs will be in the 80s or 90s for a few days. I think it will be much nicer with the lower humidity. Then supposedly by the end of next week we should see highs in the high 70s to low 80s. I will believe it when I see it!

Used the new pressure cooker again last night, this time a roast from FROZEN! It was wonderful, so juicy and tender and tasted great. I am supposed to limit red meat but that sure is hard.

Today is my rest day. I realized last night I had not done well this week on strength training. I need to do better.

Have a terrific Friday!!!!

Happy Friday!

It was so windy yesterday that I went for a walk on the treadmill instead of walking outside. I only did 35 min but it was better than nothing. The wind brought in colder air also so it felt cold most of the day.

It's currently 50 degrees. We were going to get out early this morning for a run but I didn't sleep well last night so we're going to attempt a noon run. Unfortunetly its supposed to be windy again today. Not as bad but bad enough. I really don't care if I run or walk at this point. Just as long as I get out and do something today.

Gloria-You were talking about cooler temps coming, try highs in the 50's! That could be our weather next week. That's a little too cold for me. It will be perfect weather to dig into stuff around here though. I'm not ready for jeans and sweatshirts weather or laundry! It's so nice to do laundry right now.

I didn't sleep well again last night. It wasn't my hip that was bothering me. I just ccouldn't get back to sleep after I woke up. My mind starts wandering too much. It wouldn't be bad if I could nap in the afternnon when I have nights like this but I can't.

Today is our anniversary. Not sure what we'll do. We usually get carry out from somewhere. Maybe we can go somewhere. Will see later after I exercise. If I don't have a good workout, then we'll have to eat light. This scale isn't moving again. Well, it is. It went up 1 lb last weekend and it won't come off now. So frustrating. I'm thinking about maybe trying Weight Watchers or something. I should've lost more by now. I'll give it 1 more week and if I can't get this figured out, I'm going to try something different.

Well, I guess it's time to get my butt moving here. I go grocery shopping today for my mom. I have 1 thing on my list so far. i'm trying to figure out what to buy and cook for the upcoming week. Since it's going to be cool, soups are going to be sounding pretty good for a change.

Have a wonderful day!

Becky

Good Morning and happy Thursday! Wow, the week has flown by. It's very warm here, today it is supposed to be around 86 so maybe not quite as hot but the dew point is 75 right now and has been ranging from around 74 - 77 throughout each day, so as you can guess, it is MISERABLE. But this weekend is supposed to be gorgeous with highs in the mid to high 80s but lower humidity for at least a couple of days so I think it is going to feel so nice!

My run this morning was not so great I guess, but I got it done for sure. I didn't want to get up that early, ha! But I did and there was rain around here, and maybe lightning so I kept waiting to leave. Am now at a point where I have no choice but to wear reflective gear. I would rather do it later when it is light but then I am late for work and it is hotter later too soooo....for now this is what I've got. Maybe will adjust my run time later, I work enough through the day that honestly it shouldn't matter if I take an hour off to run...I mean, last night I worked until after 8 pm, why not? Right? Anyway, it was definitely raining when I left the house, pretty hard, but it was also 78 degrees so that rain felt so nice, and sometimes there was a breeze, which was super nice. My first part of the run (after warm up) was 20 minutes at slow pace and that was fine but then I was supposed to do 10 minutes at fast pace and let me tell you, that DID not happen! I did run faster for sure but I also walked three times in that 10 minutes and my overall pace as not fast enough. But I am looking at this in a positive way, it was still speed work and it was so humid and by then not raining so it was very hard to run that pace and my heart rate was way up there, so it was still a win for me. Keep on truckin'! The race, if it happens, is late October and my concern now is more about getting in some distance, pace isn't going to matter but I do want to try to finish at a respectable time if I can!!!

Anyway, gotta get back to work, I got some good news today that will help me with this week, a couple of things that I thought I had to do but now I don't, that is a relief! I've got a report to get done and few more tasks that are due today, then get through tomorrow and things should be a bit more relaxed, relatively speaking.

Good Morning!

It's going to be a windy one today! It's pretty mild this morning. Looking for a high of 69 so the temps are going to have to drop.

I was feeling better yesterday and headed down to the lake. I decided to park in a different location and start from there. It was really nice. Plus I got out earlier for a change. My running wasn't bad at all. Afterwards I felt pretty good. I kept going throughout the day and easily got my 10,000 plus steps in.

I will say it's really starting to feel like Fall around here. This week has been perfect temp. wise. No A/C at all this week! I'm sure we're not done with the hot weather but it's nice to be able to have everything open and the fresh air coming in for a change.

I won't be running today. My son wants to get out tomorrow with me. We'll see if that happens. I'll probably just walk today. This week is going by so fast. I need to get some things done around here.

I hope everyone is having a nice week and I hope you have a fantastic Thursday!

Oh my gosh, it is Wednesday already, I just can't believe this! Becky, so sorry about your legs! It really does sound a little like sciatica. I hope you can figure it out! And hitting your head on the car, oh my goodness, how many times have I done that?! Yeah, I am SURE you had some choice words!

It is still ridiculously humid here. Dew points have been around 75 at times. We've had storms most days which has resulted in power outages and flooding. Early this morning the temp was 77 and the dew point was 75, so kind of miserable. The afternoons get at least to the high 80s so the heat index is oppressive. They say this weekend it will be much nicer and then we should continue to see some relief, though certainly not anything as cool as what you are having Becky. I think I would be COLD too if we had your weather. We aren't used to it yet.

I didn't get up to walk this morning. Yesterday was rough at work. I did kind of expect it and I think today will be crazy too. Maybe by Tuesday of next week things will settle back down. I worked until around 8:30 last night I think, and I just decided that I needed to get back at it early and I wanted to make sure to get plenty of rest, so I decided today will be a rest day. It's been two or three weeks at least since I did two rest days in a week, I think that is just fine. If I have time to do a shorter walk later, I might.

Our numbers here are low relatively speaking. I think our numbers were higher than yours all along Becky and so it seems low to me now! I think Nashville had very low numbers yesterday (maybe 45?), my county I believe had around 25? They say most of the bad cases are people with comorbidities. Well, that is about 60% of Americans! Which is why it seems to me we need to continue to be cautious! Like you said Becky, flu season isn't here yet and when we are all indoors is when things might get worse!

Well, back t work, I have a long day ahead of me!

Another sleepless night! I have had leg aches and they're keeping me up! Yesterday they ached. I came home from my moms, took something for the pain and then went and put my feet up and covered up for awhile. It was cold here too. Well, in the low 60's. It felt cold. I did feel better later on. DH had taken our 1 dog for a walk so my little one needed a walk. I did some stretches and a few exercises for my hip and then took her out for a 2 mile walk. I felt perfect. No issues whatsoever until I came home and sat down for the night. Now this. I get so frustrated. When I hurt and can't sleep I also start thinking too much. Too many things run thru my head. Ugh!

I'm thinking I need to go back to the Chiropractor. My leg aches run from my lower back down to my ankle. Seems like maybe it's my sciatic nerve thats giving me more problems. Plus my neck is still sore. Oh and when I went to take my mom for her hair appt. yesterday, I smacked the side of my head getting into her car. That hurt! I said a few choice words!

Our weather is beautiful! Very cool evenings and warmer days but not hot.

Gloria-Happy Anniversary! Our 33rd is on the 4th of this month. We probably won't celebrate either due to the numbers going up.

They've already changed plans for the schools. School starts after Labor Day. The elementary kids are hybrid now and the HS kids will be online for now. Thank you College students. They just don't seem to get how their actions impact our community. Plus they'll be going home for this long weekend so who knows what'll happen. I'd love to send them home for the whole term. So tired of this already and we haven't even hit flu season.

I am hoping to get out this morning for my run/walk. I'm sure I'll feel ok for that. It's when I want to sit down for the day is when I'll hurt.

Have a nice Wednesday! Wow! It's already midweek! Time is flying!

Becky

Oh my gosh, September, I can't believe it. Back to work for me. Today is our anniversary. We've been married 20 years but lived together for seven years before that. I don't know if we will be able to do anything this evening (because of our schedules) but we celebrated with food from our favorite restaurant over the weekend and that was so nice. We had planned a nice trip this year, that was what last week was supposed to be about, but then...Covid, so here we are.

The county where they lifted the mask mandate...the two bigger cities there both put mandates in place. And of course many businesses require them anyways, so we will see how things go now. There is something going on at the campus of Vanderbilt, I don't know if there was a party or what but students haven't been following the protocols and it is being looked at. Of course who is surprised by this...no one because that is what we have seen at universities everywhere. SMH. Someone I know has Covid, along with her family. I haven't seen her since March so no worries.

Anyway, did my run this morning. Today was a speed work day. Weather app said 100% humidity and no wind so I thought for sure it would be foggy but it wasn't. It was miserable though. Currently they are saying by Friday we will have better weather. My run was so so this morning, I did fine on the speed work part but for the rest of it, I felt like it was just too muggy. Honestly, I don't know if it is the humidity or just me. I guess once we get past this I will see how I do. I was supposed to walk/jog 15 minutes to warm up and walk/jog 15 minutes to cool down and my plan was to run more during that time but mostly I walked. Speed work was 21 minutes and I did fine on the running part. On the recovery I did walk/run, wish I had run more but it's done and I am happy! I've also got to figure out about WHEN to run. It is dark when I go out. I guess that is how it will be in the winter and what I have to do but I don't like it!

Well, back to work I go, this will be a very crazy day, trying to catch up after a week and the first week of the month is our super busy time. I am going in behind, so it will be a tough day.

Happy Sept. 1st!

We're enjoying cooler temps. It's currently 52 degrees. I love cool evenings.
we're seeing highs in the 70's to maybe 80. We had quite a bit of rain yesterday morning. It was really nice. Dark and gloomy though. I did my workout on the treadmill before running a couple of errands and then coming home to clean my house. I had terrible leg aches yesterday afternoon. I haven't had those for awhile. I still have them this morning. Not sure if its my back, the change in weather or maybe a little of both.

I won't be doing anything this morning. I need to take my mom for her haircut and then run a couple of errands with her. Maybe a dog walk today instead. I'm getting tired of going to the lake for my runs now. We used to change it up and go to the cemetery but I'm not sure how the hills would be with my hip now. Plus I don't like to go up there by myself.

It's hard to believe Labor Day is coming. It's also the beginning of apple picking season. We're planning on doing that next weekend as long as the weather holds up and I feel up to it. I have to work hard this week and next so I can get my pie too.

Well, it's time to finish up here and get moving. These mornings seem to go fast these days.

Have a great day!

Becky

Happy Monday! My last day off and then back to normal. Next weekend is Labor Day so that will be a four day week too, YAY!!!

This morning I did my Kroger pickup, it seems to go much better when I do it in the morning. If I do it in the afternoon or evening, there are always problems but since I work, it is hard to do it in the mornings. Also went to get my hair trimmed. It needed it terribly but I have been afraid to go to the place to get it cut. My DH has been twice and he kept reassuring me that it will be okay, everyone wears masks, etc, but I don't feel good about it. But I went and I was the only customer so at least that was good and my hair should be good for a while. I am kind of glad it is long right now because it doesn't require as much upkeep. I would have never been able to wait this long if my hair was short.

Anyway, got my walk in the morning. I did five miles. It is soooo stinking muggy here! I got rained on a little. Even with the weather like this I saw around 30 other people out walking and running! I don't usually see that many. One lady was walking in the street with traffic and I was coming the opposite way against traffic. She put a mask on as she passed, which I appreciated, but honestly, she should have been on the other side of the road and then a mask would not have been needed. I don't wear one in the neighborhood because I usually see so few people and also it is outside and open space so it is so easy to social distance.

One of my co-workers (and her family) have COVID. Numbers in Nashville were very very low today. I haven't seen the numbers for my county yet. It seemed like it was sneaking back up again but I hope not.

I like fall too as far as the temperatures and the beautiful fall colors but it is exactly what you said Becky, I don't want fall to come because winter is right behind it. We have mild winters here but the days are so gloomy and I don't handle cold well. And with my job it is so hard to get my runs in during the daylight hours. But it is what it is, and I know it, so I just have to deal with it along with everyone else I guess!

Well, time to move on and work on more stuff around here. Have a great day!

Good Morning!

We are currently having a thunderstorm. Love it!

I'm feeling much better today. I went to bed super early last night cuz I could no longer sit. It could also be the change in weather that is causing this. Not sure. My neck is still sore but much more bareable.

It's suppose to rain most of the morning so I'm going to get on the treadmill before I start in this morning. I have to run a couple of errands this morning plus throw dinner in the crockpot.

I can't believe that today is the last day of August. Fall is going to be here soon. I love the Fall season and maybe a change is what is needed but I sure don't like what follows. In a time when things have been so down, seeing the colorless trees, etc. isn't going to lift anyone's spirits I'm afraid.

I hope you enjoy you day! I'm loving the storms this morning!

Good Afternoon!

Internet problems this morning. Not sure what that was all about. They used to let you know if they were doing any updating but not anymore. I woke up with a stiff neck. The pain went from my neck down my right shoulder to my foot. Not a happy camper at all. I was on the cranky side for sure. I was going to make a big dinner but nope. Not up to it. DH can throw something on the grill for just the 2 of us.

I walked the lake in hopes of loosening things up. It helped a bit. I've kept moving but now it's time for me to sit down for a bit. We ran to Menards to pick up a few things so I ended up with my 10,000 steps for the day. Luckily I could push a cart, otherwise I would not have gone.

The weather here is nice. The low this morning was 54. It's now in the mid 70's. No A/C for the 2nd day. It's so nice to have everything open and the fresh air coming in.

37 more positves today. We've had over 100 in the past 4 days which is alot for us. Mostly student aged. Gloria-I hope the counties know what they're doing. If the numbers are low, then maybe they're ready to test it out. I'm sure we can't go doing this forever. I'm not ready to just go on without masks. If people would social distance then it wouldn't be a problem. Right now the bars and restaurants are risking losing their license if they don't follow the order so hopefully that's being done now. The State is going out checking to make sure. It's falling on the college students to act like adults and follow the orders. I know this generation doesn't like to do that but they need to suck it up and do it. Many jobs are at stake. The food service workers at the University don't get paid alot so unemployment isn't going to be good for them this time around. It's not a good time of the year to do this.

We have rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow so I'm hoping I feel better and I will be on the treadmill for my run/walk.

I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday!

Becky

Got my run done this morning, slow again, lots of walking today. It was raining when I got up to meet my BFF at 6 am so we postponed until 7 am. Still got rained on but it is so warm and humid that it felt nice. Later this week they say we will have nights in the 60s with lower humidity and they are even predicting evenings in the 50s later on, we will see if that holds true! After what we have had for so long, that is going to seem cold!

I am doing my usual step challenge that I do each week, but also doing a mileage challenge with one of my running groups, it runs through the month of August, my goal is 110 miles, that is running and walking both, and I am only a couple of miles from my goal...tomorrow morning I will go for a walk and get that done.

So the county that borders Nashville to the south has not renewed their mask mandate. No more masks needed there. Our county extended it to the end of September but I think that if one county isn't doing it, the rest will follow. I don't like this at all. People here aren't social distancing and I think that maybe masks are the only thing that is preventing widespread sickness right now. My BFF said today we couldn't have coffee together because it was raining so we couldn't sit outside. She said she doesn't feel safe sitting inside. I was shocked because she is socializing way more than I am but I would be willing to sit inside Starbucks with her as long as we were social distancing from everyone else. Our Starbucks has very little seating inside now because they have what few tables they have very spread out.

My kitty just came in with her big fish. She is so stinking cute! She is two but she still plays so much and this stuffed fish (not a cat toy) is HUGE and she drags it all over. Also, listening to the Partridge Family, showing my age, haha!

Everyone have a great day! It's rainy here, another day to get stuff done around the house! Maybe I will watch a Disney movie too.

Glad you finally got rain Becky! We had a little bit of rain, it was for a while, steady and nice. It is still super humid here, and I guess it will be for a few more days. Right now they are predicting rain for a few days and then supposedly by the end of the week we might see cooler and less humid weather. That would be so nice.

Becky, our city is small, kind of a suburb of Nashville I guess, Nashville was seeing like 300 or so cases per day for but now it is around 150 a day and sometimes much much less, one day it was around 30 I think. We live in a small city that is kind of a suburb of Nashville, and during quarantine we were having around 12 cases a day and then it jumped up a lot for a while and I was so very worried, and now it is around 30 a day, sometimes a lot more and sometimes less but people here aren't wearing masks and people here think the virus is fake, etc. My hubby wants to eat all of the time at this one restaurant were NO ONE wears masks and people are all jammed in there. No outside options either. Last thing I want to do is go to a place like that. I won't even go get my hair cut even though it really needs it.

Got my run in this morning, it was pretty good but much slower than I was supposed to do. I guess overall I was in the range for the training plan but still very slow. I didn't walk much and was very happy with the run despite the pace. I figure as humid as it is, I am not going to be speedy anyway. I met my BFF and her SIL and we started out together but they were faster than I was and I went further than they did. I thought that despite the humidity my breathing was very good but my legs definitely did feel tired during the run.

Well, guess I better get going and get stuff done. I don't lack for things to do around here, that is for sure!

Good Morning!

We got some rain yesterday morning! It poured! It could've lasted a little longer though. We will take what we can get. The sun came out and boy was it humid!

I did my run/walk on the treadmill and I did really well. Very pleased with my workout. We went out for lunch and then dessert and I still dropped 1 lb. Not bad! We won't be going back to this restaurant until things have passed. Although WI has a mandatory mask order in place, these small towns don't abide by it and who's going to do anything about it. Had we known this we wouldn't have gone. Luckily we were alone at the tables and there were only 2 people at the bar. We'll be sticking to MN from now on.

Today is my rest day. We're going to the Farmers Market this morning and then I have to run a couple more errands and then to my moms. Our lawn needs mowing today and a few outdoor things need to be done. It's just going to feel so good to not have it so humid for a change.

Gloria-I envy you for getting that stuff done. I need to concentrate on doing that this coming up week. It's going to feel like Fall so my energy level should be higher.

We had 50 cases in 2 days in our small city and they say most are coming from the Universities. I guess both have positves. The President of the University my DH works at sent out an email to students that it falls in their hands. Either quit partying and start following the rules or its going to be their fault if everything goes online again. I think some of them want their classes online. Many are already online or hybrid. They would have to leave the dorms again if this happened and it would put many out of work again especially in the food service area where they don't make alot of money to begin with. I've also heard that some teachers aren't requiring masks in the class room. They too are part of the problem. So tired of the ones saying masks don't work. We wouldn't be where we are today if everyone would've followed the guidelines from the beginning. Within a few weeks, influenza should start on campus so thats really going to make things worse. Luckily we're suppose to have a mild Fall so maybe it'll be enough to keep people outdoors and not inside so much.

I have noever had a card hacked but DH has. 2 times from school. My sons Girlfriend has hers hacked about once a year too but she orders from everywhere under the sun. If she doesn't do that, she loses her card. I never used my bank card when I order online unless its a place I've been ordering from forever and I trust them.

Well, this morning is flying by. We need to get going here. The Farmers Market is open now so I would like to get down there soon.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Becky

Happy Friday! Can't believe the week is about over. I've enjoyed the time off.

Our cases remain relatively low, even with the kids back in school. Nashville has been a lot lower too but their kids won't resume in person classes until at least October, and that is only if the numbers stay low. Nashville is still in Phase 2 of reopening but as of Monday they are easing some restrictions a little bit. We went in to Nashville today to go to the used books/records, etc, store, to sell some stuff. The place is a huge store, giant, but it was .very very busy. Everyone was wearing masks and generally everyone was maintaining six feet though I still felt weird being there. We made a decent amount of money on our stuff so it was worth the drive.

DH's offices are reopening on a limited bases on Monday. But his building probably will not be reopening. If he has to go in, he will go to one of the other buildings. His company already did a very large percent of working from home prior to Covid so this isn't a huge change for them. They already had "hoteling" in place where one uses an app to reserve a desk to work at for a day. Now fewer people will be able to be in there at once of course. His building will be closed for good probably and so we stopped by there on the way to the used bookstore and grabbed what little he still had at his desk.

Also, didn't mention that our credit card got hacked, No kidding when I say this has happened to us EVERY YEAR when we go on vacation in August. One year it was our debit cards too and they had pretty much wiped out our account and we didn't have any cards to use while it was going on so couldn't go anywhere - fortunately that year we stayed home so it wasn't the worst thing in the world.

Did I mention that I finally made a chicken in the Ninja pressure cooker? It turned out so good! I pressure cooked it for 20 minutes and then did air crisp for 20 minutes. It was so juicy and tender and flavorful.

Today is my rest day. I lounged around a bit this morning and then we had breakfast and went to Nashville. I am so glad we are home because there are storms nearby and Nashville has a tornado warning. I wouldn't want to be out in that. I got some coffee on the way home so I am going to sit here and chill a bit before I get moving on getting stuff done. We have this huge built in bookshelf and it was a disaster with books all over it. We just randomly started clearing that off yesterday and I took a ton of stuff to Goodwill. I have a few left that I want to read and also a few cookbooks that I want to go through to see if I will keep. We have a lot of other books in boxes we need to sort through. We both read a lot.

Becky, I hope you and DH enjoy his day off. I am glad we have a holiday coming up - four day work week coming up (I am off Monday but DH is not) and then the next weekend is Labor Day. I might take one other day off in September. We shall see!

Everyone enjoy the day, we will be carefully watching weather here with the remnants of Laura. This storm has been devastating but I guess it could have been worse.

Good Morning!

It's Friday and rain is on the way. We can hear the thunder and it's dark in the house. I love morning thunderstorms. Hopefully we will get dumped with rain today. It's the last warm and humid day for awhile. At least I hope so.

Yesterday I walked on the treadmill while my DH went out for a bike ride and then we took the dogs for a walk. I could've walked outside by it was so humid and still out there. I just didn't feel like working out in the humid air. Its so hard to breathe. Today will have to be another treadmill day. Unless the storms pass thru quickly. It's DH's last vacation day this month. We're going to go out for lunch and then I'm not sure what we're going to do.

We had a jump in cases here yesterday. It was expected. Now to sit back and see if they continue to climb. It's kind of expected that the University will go back to all online, but we're going to have to watch the public schools now. If our numbers continue to climb they too will have to start all online. I am so glad DH doesn't have to go on campus for his job.

It's raining! emoticon So happy!

Have a wonderful Friday!

Becky

Thursday already, my week off is going soooo fast! I need more time off. I have so much I am trying to get done. This morning we have electricians over. Our house is almost 70 years old and the wiring isn't so great. Some of the house isn't grounded. We are going to get it all re-wired but one step at a time. Today they are here working on the living room. So, knowing that they would be here early, I got up to run, but my workout wasn't syncing up in my watch, and I couldn't really do it without the watch because it was like 10 minute walk/jog warm up, 10 minute walk/jog cool down - that part was easy, but the middle part where it was 30 seconds fast running and then 45 seconds jog/walk repeats, well how would I be able to track that? I needed the watch to prompt me. I got it going and got out there but it was 30 minutes later than I had planned before I left so I cut it short. And for some reason the watch didn't track the stuff right so I ended up with no idea on how well I did. I knew when I was running it wasn't working so I just kind of gave up on it. Maybe later I will get a walk in or something.

Tomorrow we are supposed to have quite a bit of rain from the remnants of the hurricane. We will see. Right now the track is north of Nashville, more into Kentucky. We are are north of Nashville but not by far.

Hope everyone has a good day, almost Friday!!!

Good Morning!

So fun to hear about everyone elses DH's habits!

I went to the lake yesterday. Yes it was warm but there was a nice breeze down there. I did any easy walk/run. I felt really good. My hip didn't start acting up until later in the afternoon after I had bathed the dogs. Allie is a little dog and I bathe her inside and she's easy, but Cooper is a large dog and we bathe him outside and although he likes the pool, he hates the hose. So I finally had to have DH come and hold him so I could get the shampoo off of him. Plus he hates to be brushed. He's shedding so bad cuz he's losing his puppy fur and he needs brushing.

Our heat is on it's last day. We're hoping for rain sometime today, tonight and tomorrow. Then the temps are suppose to drop to the 70's for highs. If they actually happen I will be so happy!

Em-So glad to hear from you. I always wanted to draw but I was never good at it. I could play the piano a little but my parents wouldn't buy me a piano so I would play on my friends. I did have an organ and I took lessons but it wasn't the same.

Looking at the hurricane news. What else is going to happen this year?

I'm thinking about walking today. I'm going grocery shopping today seeing as it's suppose to rain tomorrow.

Have a nice Thursday!

Becky

I have to laugh about our husbands. Isn't that funny? Sometime ago mine took off his work shirt and left it on the back of the chair at my craft desk. And there the shirt still sits. I don't know how long it has been there. Months? More than a year? And then he changed out the light fixture in our office. The old light fixture is still sitting in a chair. And there it will sit. His mother doesn't live here. I work so much, he does not, he has time, I do not.

Went for a walk/run with my BFF last night. She wanted to go to the track, which I thought would work as I wanted to walk not run. She wanted to run. But there was a football game at the high school so we couldn't use the track. We went to the greenway instead so we pretty much had to stay together. We ran some and walked a lot. I felt bad because I didn't want to run and I know she needed that. This morning I walked but it was short because I had to get home and get online for work/continuing education.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

When I first moved in with DH he had 13 black suit jackets. I put them all out in the living room in what looked like some odd art project- anyhow he did donate.
Things have not changed much- he kept putting his suit jacket (yes even in this weather- he says it is his purse) on the back of a chair- so I put it on the coat hook. Then I noticed he was not putting them away so I put 3 of them on the latest one he had put on the back of a chair.
This morning he asked me "where did these come from?" emoticon

Becky - glad your hip is better

Gloria- emoticon

and I will try to catch up..
I've been drawing and practicing piano again and I'm happy about that

Good Morning!

Gloria-Your DH sounds like my DH. He finally cleaned his room out this summer and reorganized it but he still has so many things he really doesn't need. Starting next week, I'm going to start getting downstairs and going thru stuff. I've got some ideas for shelving and things in our storage room but I first need to go thru stuff and organize. Once I start I know I will continue until its done. I have so many of the boys things that I'm holding onto for them. My oldest has a house so he got his stuff but the other 2 rent and they have no room for any of it. I may see about putting it up in the attic part of our garage if need be. That way it's out of sight.

Rest day yesterday and it really helped. In fact I slept pretty good last night. I only woke up once during the night. My hip is feeling better again. I was really down yesterday. I'm tired of the heat and humidity. Alot of anxiety also comes from the news. I don't watch it on TV but you can't go out to fb or talk to anyone without them talking about things going on. I've decided to block the negative now and just keep the positive. There are more good things going on in the world than bad and we need to focus more on that.

We have another heat advisory today and it's going to be hot tomorrow also, but they are forecasting storms tomorrow night and then a cool down. I won't believe it until I see it though. We didn't get the storms this week when they kept saying we would. Plus the last time it was suppose to cool down, they kept raising the temps. So we will see. We need that rain and I'd really like a few of those cool temps again. We're almost into Sept. now. 70's would be perfect.

Treadmill this morning. I had thought about going to the lake but it's so humid outside right now and there's no breeze. I would be miserable.

Have a nice day everyone!

Becky

Hello! I got a lot of organizing done around here yesterday. I could work on this for a month and probably still not be done, but I feel good about my progress. Today more work on it. Unfortunately a lot of this stuff is my DH's game stuff and I can't do anything about that. We have a gigantic bonus room with humongous closets and that area is PACKED with his stuff. He also has his man cave, the game room with his big gaming table and shelves of games and miniatures. He never plays all of that so why? We both have too many books and I have too many crafts. I was going to sell a bunch of mine at a consignment sale that was supposed to be in April but of course that was canceled. Maybe next year.

Nashville again had very low numbers yesterday, haven't seen numbers yet for our county, but I hope Nashville can keep it up. Our county went back to school in person when it started the first of the month, Nashville though is 100% virtual and they are saying if things continue to go well, they will do in person in October. Colleges started Monday so we should know in a couple of weeks how that is going.

Did my run this morning. Somehow my Garmin isn't tracking my training plan right but I don't care I guess, I am going to keep doing what I am doing. My run this morning was not too bad considering how hot and humid it already was. I am getting workouts in. Yesterday I did my strength training. Like you said Becky, I think I would do better with that if I was in a class but I am not wanting to go to the gym right now. Maybe in the spring of things seem like it is going okay. I wouldn't mind going back to the YMCA if I can still get an employee discount through my job. Or maybe back to yoga. My BFF asked me to go to the track with her this evening. I already ran so if I go I might run while she is doing speed work.

We are not eating well here. Often on vacation I lose weight but we are just eating terribly! I need to get with the program here!

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning!

I too should be used to it being hot and dry this time of year. That's usually what August is like. It's just that we haven't had much rain so it's extra dry here. We were suppose to have storms last night. Didn't happen. Stayed over in WI. Now we have heat advisories again.

Gloria-I'm the complete opposite. I wouldn't do well sitting out in the heat. I love hot summers but this year we've had so many hot days and so dry and there's nothing to do. I'm not shopping. There's no where to swim. I can't bike. It's really frustrating. So I end up sitting inside the house and I'm really tired of doing that. I can't even cut my moms grass cuz it's not growing due to the heat.

Yesterday I went on the treadmill for an easy run/walk. Afterwards I cleaned the house. Was going to bathe dogs but by the time I was finished, I was finished! I needed to sit. Man I hate this. I'm trying so hard to lose weight and I know I'd be more successful if I could bump my exercise up a bit. I'm at a standstill. I'm pretty much burning the same amount of calories a day. I have to make today a rest day so I can do some running tomorrow.

Time for me to move. I should walk the dogs though before the sun comes up. Today they'll get their bath!

Have a nice Tuesday!

Becky

I am just kind of resigned to the heat and humidity here. They keep saying it will get better but it doesn't, but then it is summer here and that is the way it is! I keep reminding myself that it will be cold soon and cold is relative because we usually do have very mild winters here. But I am the one who yesterday after our run, the whole group is sitting outside at the coffee shop (so we can social distance) and they are all sweating and I am in a hoodie all bundled up and cold. So there you go, I guess even though this heat and humidity is miserable to run in, I still do better in the heat than most people do. For some reason I cannot tolerate cold.

It is nice being off work. I didn't have to worry about hurrying and getting out in the dark to get my walk in, and getting home on time to shower and start work. I left later so it was sunny (and much hotter too) and I walked for five miles instead of three. It was so relaxing. It felt good.

Hope everyone has a great Monday! Becky, take care of that hip! They do say the treadmill is more gentle.

Good Morning!

We're under a few advisories today. Fog, Heat advisory and a chance of strong storms tonight. Yesterday the temps hit the 90's with heat index in the 100's. Today the temp is suppose to be 96 with heat index of 104.

Yesterday I walked around the lake. I just didn't feel like trying to walk until I was over halfway around and then I ran a bit just to get done. It was warm and no breeze. I've decided for now that most of my runs are going to be on the treadmill. I feel like the softer pad is better than the pavement for me right now. I seem to feel better faster when I run on the treadmill. Not the way it used to be. I used to do better outside. Still not sure if it's my hip or sciatica. It's still too soon to go back to the Dr. I had a conversation with someone yesterday at the lake who used to run daily and he too was telling me that now he hurts all over. Can't run. He hides his pain well. On the other hand, I must've looked like I was in pain that he stopped to talk to me about it. I see so many that are running every day at the lake and I want to tell them to watch out. It may be nice now, but it's going to hurt them down the road I'm afraid.

Today I'll probably get on the treadmill. It's going to be too miserable outside. It's already humid. I've got cleaning to get done and then I really want to give the dogs a bath. It's perfect outside for that. Yesterday for lunch I made pizza bites using zucchini. They were really good. They'd be a good appetizer but since I'm watching what I eat, they made for a good lunch. Took no time at all.

The Universities start today. 2 of my sons are going. My youngest finally decided to go back and hopefully will finish this time. I'm so hoping he does well. He needs a change in his life. Just hope everyone stays healthy. My other son's classes are online and my youngest has 2 hybrid classes so a bit online and a bit in class. I really see them all going online soon. At least this term.

Gloria-I hope you're not getting our heat, but it looks like you may see remants of the hurricane later this week. I'd love that rain. Maybe the path will change and it'll move up our way.

Have a nice Monday and I hope you're enjoying vacation!

Becky, we are definitely having the same weather here! Hot and humid and this morning was so foggy. I ended up going with the running groups this morning to run. I wasn't sure if I would and then I got up too late really but I made it over there with about a minute to spare. This morning there were really too many people there for my comfort level but since we all run different paces it wasn't too bad. I actually ran by myself but lots of people were ahead of me and behind me so not really alone. I felt like my legs were really tired this morning. I keep thinking that I will have to do my Monday runs on Mondays instead of moving it to Sunday because it is just too hard to run the day after my long run but then it is so much easier to run on a non-work day than it is a work day so I stick with Sundays. I could have easily done it tomorrow morning since I am off but just decided to stick with the same routine. Plus I have been walking on Monday mornings so what is the difference if I run or if I walk, I should probably switch it up as long as it is a short run.

Lots of places sell these huge burgers now. We had ordered from a local place recently and when we got home my DH's burger was a DOUBLE and neither of us remember their burgers being double before. He has a very hearty appetite but even he was not able to eat all of that. I don't know what we are going to do today. There are things we want and need to do but we don't have a lot of specific plans.

Hope you enjoyed the lake Becky, hope everyone has a terrific Sunday. I might go to the grocery store today. I want to try a whole chicken in the new Ninja (pressure cooker) so I need to pick up a chicken.

Hello everyone!

Yesterday turned into a warm day. I ended up on the treadmill. Tried to get rid of my headache. It didn't totally go away but it was better. I pretty much avoided the warm, humid day and stayed inside the A/C. It's pretty foggy this morning but the sun should come out and it's going to warm up to about 88. We're looking for 90's the rest of the week.

My treadmill run was pretty good yesterday. I ran much more. It didn't bother me until early this morning. I woke up and the side of my lower leg was really hurting. Not sure what that was all about. I'm planning on hitting the lake this morning. I'll probably do more walking than running though.

Gloria-I hope you get to enjoy your vacation. Covid has really messed alot of plans up this year. I have been saving a ton of money though and thats why it hasn't been bad with me not working. Granted, we don't have the extra money right now, but since we're not spending it's not that bad. Unless something comes up that I can do from home, I'm going to hold off right now and wait for things to settle down.

Last night DH went and picked up burgers for dinner. Boy did the guilt hit me. I cut my burger in half and didn't eat all of the fries. I wouldn't have been able to eat everything anyway cuz the burgers are now 1/2 lb burgers. Who in their right mind needs a 1/2 lb burger! That's crazy. We won't be ordering from their anymore unless we want the fish. Good thing I had a simple breakfast and a small salad for lunch. It's hard to come up with things to go and get. I was going to make something here but I really wasn't up to it. Tonight there's a 5 pm ballgame so we'll have to eat an early dinner. Unsure of what that's going to be either.

Well, I better get moving here so I can finish my coffee, eat something and then head to the lake before the sun comes out and it warms up too much. The guys are going fishing this morning so they should be coming over soon.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Becky

Hi Em, Hi Becky, HI All, happy Saturday! Becky, I love those rest days, they do definitely seem to help regenerate or something! I ran this morning with BFF and her SIL, that was so fun. It was raining to start but it stopped after a while and then I wished it would rain more because it was so muggy. The rain made it feel better. We did about 7.5 miles I guess. I did my training plan which wasn't that many miles but BFF has started her plan for her [virtual] half so we had to keep going for a while. I think it went okay. For the first part (mine) we didn't walk too much but for the second half (the rest of hers) we did walk a lot more.

We went back to KY to shop today. We had $20 coupons to use at Meijer and we at Chuy's again (Tex Mex and I ate too much). When we went up there a couple of weeks ago I was able to get 10 pound dumbbells, which had been about impossible to find, so this time I got 12 pound dumbbells. I already have 15 pound ones so I should be good for a while. I am still working with the five pound and eight pound ones so I won't need the bigger ones for a while yet.

I am officially on vacation. I hope they don't call me but they might. I do have to work Wednesday morning for about five hours but otherwise, I am OFF! We aren't going anyway because of Covid so we hope to get stuff done around the house. And chill and relax. I am hoping to have time to watch a couple of Disney movies. I watched Peter Pan last night. And I will read, etc. I am really looking forward to just NOT WORKING! And I am going to try out my new Ninja (pressure cooker) Foodi. We love the grill so much that we got this - and it's cool because now we can air fry two different things at once in each of them.

Total rest day yesterday and it really made a difference. I'm feeling pretty good today. We can't have that! emoticon I'm planning on doing a run/walk today either on the treadmill (because it raining!) or if it ends I'll go out side and do it.

We went out for our lunch yesterday and our dessert. Unfortunately it put on less than 1 lb on the scale so I have to work hard these next couple of days to get that off! I need to change my workout schedule so I exercise on Friday's so this doesn't happen. It's funny cuz I had yogurt for breakfast along with coffee and then a hoagie sandwich and a bar and this is what happens to me. So frustrating. The downfall of getting older. It's easy to put the weight on and almost impossible to take it off!

Yesterday the heat index was in the 90's again and it looks like this trend is going to go thru next week. The rain we got over night helps but we're now in a moderate drought and we're negative over 4 inches of rain right now. I would rather have this during the winter. Less snow is always welcome!

I hope you all have a nice Saturday! One more Saturday left in August and then we'll be looking at Sept. and the Fall season. Apple orchards are starting to open up for the season now. Our local garden center is starting to add pumpkins to the stand. I love Fall but it seems to come earlier each year!

Good Morning! Today is my rest day! No walk or run. I kind of love Friday mornings as my rest day because I don't have to rush around to get out of the house to get my run in. I can be more relaxed and chill and maybe feel more rested. I have gotten to sleep earlier the past couple of nights but yesterday I was still tired. So far not today but it is still early.

I've heard that the Vanderbilt University football team has some cases of Covid. I guess that will be confirmed today. Cases in my county were very much down but suddenly they went up a lot, not sure what is going on with that. Wonder if it has something to do with school kids but honestly, I have no idea. I am staying off Facebook most of the time so I am not getting any info from there, and I don't watch the news.

Some of my team members at work have to go to the office every now and then (one of them every day) and they have been telling me how bad traffic is again. I dread the day that I have to go back. I can't deal with two or three hours a day of sitting in the car. Right now I am working quite a bit but it is not so bad since traffic isn't a factor. Honestly this month has been pretty good for me although my DH has gotten really mad at least a couple of times because he says I am working too much. Next week I am on vacation and I will be logging in one day for a class that I need and I don't know if i will have to work any other time or not - I am not planning too but it could happen. When I said that he was not happy.

Well, here is hoping for a great day for all of us!!!

Good Morning!

Keeping my fingers crossed we get at least a sprinkle this morning. It looks like rain. Only small blurps on the radar. Bigger chance tomorrow.

I did rest yesterday. We took the dogs out and a ran a little with the puppy to try and burn some energy out of him. Afterwards I ran to the store and then went to visit my mom for a bit. The rest of the day I didn't do alot due to my sons girlfriend hanging out here. Last night I didn't sleep well so I'm a bit on the tired side this morning. I've made it another week with eating right. It's Friday and we always eat out on Friday somewhere. Now to eat right! No fried foods and I do allow myself some type of dessert once a week.

The students are arriving on campus. Lots of traffic yesterday. Not the lines that we're used to seeing but thats only because they were allowed to come and move their stuff in earlier. They have these fancy tents set up on campus right now to allow for alternative learning. I guess they'll be up till Oct. Plus there are Covid test tents up on Campus. I've been told the students aren't doing well with the social distancing. We'll know in 1-2 weeks how things go.

Well, it's time to get moving here. We're running a bit late this morning and I have to do my moms grocery shopping this morning.

Have a wonderful Friday!

Becky

Our weather forecast has been the same, they keep saying it is going to be cooler and less humid but that day never comes. I don't care. The humidity is a little lower right now and that does help but I am not ready for cold. We had a lack of rain here I think it was last year? I can't remember but we got no fall color to speak of because everything just dried up and died. This year it is still green and we get rain here and there.

Something is wrong with my Garmin this morning, I am not sure what. I started out on my run and it seemed like it skipped the warm up part, which is okay because I would just add five minutes to the end to get to the 30 minutes total. Maybe I clicked the lap button or something but I am not sure. Then at the end there was no total time and now it is synced up on my phone but I can't go in to look at my pace, so I have no idea how I did. It seems like my pace was not very good based on the info that I can see, but I felt good and I felt like was running okay, breathing was fine. Now I am afraid something is wrong with my watch.

Becky, I used to go to a boot camp two or three days a week. That was a few years ago. And I loved it and my running was so good then. So you are right, I think a class is better for me too, but I am not sure if I want to go that route now. Maybe in the spring if things get better. I am trying to build up some fitness equipment at home but I don't want to spend a ton of money and my problem is being motivated to do that.

Well, back to work! Have a good day! Hope your hip and legs are okay Becky.

Strength training is something I definetly know I lack. It'd be so much easier to to go to a class for that.

I went to the lake yesterday and did 1/4 mile run, 1/4 mile walk. My hips and legs were bothering me terrribly, but I came home and after lunch, we walked the dogs. I slept better last night. I've decided to not do any running now until sometime this weekend. Exercise will be walking the dogs only. I'm also going to do the stretches I did when I had sciatica last year and see if that helps. DH wanted to go for a bike ride this morning. I really think thats what started all of this.

Well, the bars are starting to advertise their weekend specials to welcome back the students. We should start seeing our numbers go up in 1-2 weeks. I think you'll see that with all of the states though seeing as most Universities start back next week. They had the big Sturgis Motorcycle rally last week and already had 1 guy test positive. He was sick while there. The people in SD will be fine because most got everything they needed prior to the 2 weeks and then stayed home plus there's a low population there. It's all the other states that will see any numbers with that. Oh well. It's almost influenza season too.

Gloria-I was wrong about our temps. They have changed our forecast thru next week and we're now suppose to see mid to upper 80's. The humidity isn't too bad. Only in the low 60's right now so its a dry heat. The grass crunches when you walk on it. It's pretty sad to say the least. There's a slight chance of rain on Saturday and thats about it. Trees are dying and more and more Maples and Ash trees are starting to change color. This weekend would've been the last festival of the summer.

It's time for me to get moving here. I'd like to walk the dogs before it warms up today.

Have a nice Thursday!

Becky

Great job Becky! You are doing awesome! You're weather sounds great. It was around 68 here this morning so that was nice, not too humid and sometimes a light breeze.. My walk was nice. My toe got another blister - was doing so much better with these new shoes but I wore my old ones Monday to walk in and I think those shoes are the problem. They have over 300 miles on them but I thought I could still wear them to walk. Maybe not. I wore different shoes for my walk this morning and that seemed to be much better. Last night I did my strength training...trying to be consistent! I probably need to track calories and stuff for a while too. I don't want to so I am trying to just get a handle on this myself but the past month I have just been eating too much, that is all there is to say!

Well, happy Wednesday!!!

Good Morning!

I'm down another 1.5 lbs! emoticon

I ended up on the treadmill again yesterday morning. By the time my body gets moving and I hit the bathroom a couple of times, I didn't really have time to go down to the lake. I had a pretty good workout though on the treadmill and after I was done with my mom, I came home and we walked the dogs. 10,000 plus steps! I made a nice healthy lunch/dinner afterwards. More and more I'm beginning to think it's sciatica and not so much my hip. My hip is sore too but things seem to bother me more at night. I'm having a hard time trying to get comfortable when I go to bed. It's reminding me of the sciatica I had last year with my left leg. So now I need to look up those exercises and start doing them and see it that helps.

I'll have time to get outside today for my exercise. It should probably be just a walk though. We'll see how the morning goes. It's only 54 degrees right now. Perfect for being outside!
Hopefully I'll have more of the energy I had yesterday. I think thats what helped move that scale. Plus I've been doing good at measuring, weighing and logging my food. Not sure how long I will end up doing this but I have to try.

Time to get this body moving!

Have a nice Wednesday!

Becky

Nice weather Becky! Hope you were able to get out and enjoy it! Well, they had promised this beautiful weather with lower humidity and cool mornings but nope. Didn't happen. It was around 90 yesterday and the dew point isn't as bad as it was, so it does feel better. The mornings have been around 70ish for the past couple of days. But we have definitely not seen the low to mid-60s that they were predicting. Still very nice though. I have enjoyed it. We went out to eat late yesterday afternoon and I prefer to eat outside, just not really cool on eating indoors with people, so I was glad that it was lower humidity because no way would my DH eat outside at 90 degrees if the humidity was bad. Actually it was very early so not too many people were there anyway. I have noticed a lot of places aren't very busy anymore.

We went to the store (not Kroger, I only do pick up from there now) and again, can't get my DH's pop. I heard there is a shortage of aluminum for cans. I was finally able to get the diet Dr. Pepper but not the Cherry Coke Zero. It's weird the stuff that we can't get anymore.

Well, I was getting really worried about my training plan for my race. The race, if it happens, is about nine weeks out and it hasn't had me doing any long runs lately. I am only doing like an hour at the most at one time. The plan is on my Garmin so I canceled that one and started a new one. I hate to do that, I am always one that will finish no matter what, but I can't risk not being ready in the event that the race does happen. I hope this works. It wanted me to do a five minute time trial yesterday. Okay, well, Monday is my rest day but it's only five minutes so I did that, and it was so stinking hot so it wasn't my best but it wasn't my worst either. It's a baseline. I'm good with it. And then this morning was 30 minutes, 20 of it running. That was good too. I did my strength training yesterday too!

It was a really nice day yesterday. No exercise besides cleaning and walking up and down the stairs. My lower back was killing me yesterday. Not sure now if its my hip, my back or both. This morning its better. I am going to either go out for a run/walk or get on the treadmill. I have to take my mom for her hair appt. this morning so its going to depend on when I get out. I should be out now. I just need to get up and get dressed and skip the coffee. My body needs more time to wake up these days though. If I had someone pushing me out, that would be a different story.

The weather is perfect for running right now, Mid 50's this morning. Only looking for a high of 80 today.

Have a nice Tuesday!

Becky

Good Morning! Yep , the weekends sure do fly. I didn't work this weekend, should have though, but yesterday morning my husband went off on a rant about how I work too much and he wants me to quit, etc. This isn't the first time he has said that. I would quit if I felt like I had more money saved for retirement. So I didn't work yesterday but I sure did enjoy the weekend! We did some more work on our storage room. He says there is some more stuff out there that needs to be taken care of. I think it's his stuff but if I don't stay on top of it he probably won't do it so I have to make sure we get it done.

A few more schools are starting today. One was delayed two weeks because of Covid, so they are starting now, and one county got hit badly by the tornadoes in March so they had a lot more issues than just Covid so they start today too. Colleges and universities here start next Monday and kids either have moved in or are in the process of doing so. I am hoping for the best but only time will tell. I have noticed on my morning walks and runs that traffic is a lot worse here, even with the kids on a hybrid schedule. Today the little kids K - 5 start every day instead of hybrid.

My walk was good this morning - it was cooler and the dew point is very low. Weather.com says it should continue to be nice. Local meteorologists says that the humidity will be back so I don't know. I am good with whatever, winter will be here soon enough.

Good Morning!

Monday already. This weekend flew! I only walked yesterday. It would've been a good day for a run. It wasn't that warm when I went out. Again, too many people. Even kids! This is before 9 in the morning. I guess I have to wait till school starts to have it quiet down at the lake again. Then I'll have to deal with college students. The students move in the end of the week and classes start next week. No one here is too excited about that. I'm sure the bars are gearing up for it. Just hope the city is ready. We have 2 Universities and a tech college in a city of about 32,000. Hopefully most students that have online classes will stay home this term.

Today should be another nice day. High of 80 and sunny. I don't usually run on Mondays. It's my cleaning day. The dogs need walking though so that'll be my exercise. I also need to cook. We had Culvers yesterday. The guys didn't get home until about 2:30 yesterday from fishing and then DH had to leave about 4:30 for the ballgame. At least I was good the rest of the day and we did eat early. I also need to run to Target and I should go to the garden center.

Time to get moving here!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Becky

Happy Sunday! It's pretty here too although we are supposed to get rain later as the cold front comes through - then, lower humidity! It should be really nice for a few days. I am looking forward to that. Today wasn't too bad for my run. I did go and run with the group - luckily there weren't too many people there, but my BFF and I always go a different route anyway so as to be sure of social distancing. My times were okay today - I was happy with the run. It didn't seem as humid this morning and even though it was "race pace" for 30 minutes, I felt like it was decent. Last night I did my strength training and I did squats, and today my knee hurt a little so if I do squats again I need to watch my form. I've always had trouble with squats and have spent countless hours with personal trainers trying to get it right but still have trouble.

Becky, our county seems to be doing very well with new covid cases, and I hope that continues though I am not sure it will. Schools have been open two weeks and kids have been going two days a week and doing virtual three days a week. Tomorrow K - 5 start going every day. There was a huge party at a high school student's house last weekend, over 100 kids went, no masks, no social distancing. We live near one of the high schools and I have seen what looks to be like 75 or more kids out on the practice fields doing various sports, all huddled together with no masks and no social distancing. So I don't know if the low numbers will continue - time will tell. Other counties around here have not fared so well. Whole classrooms have been sent home to quarantine for 14 days duke to exposure. Nashville is still completely virtual. One of my friends in another county sent her kid to school for the first day and that very day the child's class was exposed and sent home. We have heard of one county in Georgia (not far from Chattanooga) that had several hundred kids exposed and quarantined. It's really weird that in the county where we live the numbers have been so low because it doesn't seem to me like people are social distancing at all here and not necessarily wearing masks either. I am wondering if people aren't getting tested..

Well, I am hoping to get a lot done around here today, I've been happy with the progress we've made on our storage room and it would be awesome if we could get that done today but I don't know if I can't I can my hubby on board with that!

Gloria-It was nice yesterday. A little too windy at times though. Came home with a sunburned face. I didn't feel it though because of the wind. Its going to be in the mid 80's today. Higher than the 70's that were forecast earlier. I don't think we're suppose to have the humidity though.

Gloria-Your schools have been back for a couple of weeks now, how are the Covid numbers? An expert came out and said when all the schools open, the numbers are going to skyrocket again. Besides GA, we haven't heard about numbers going up.

Yesterday I hopped on the treadmill due to time. I did a 30 min. workout which was more than enough. Short runs. My weight has stayed steady throughout the weekend so that's promising for me. We went out and had a quick lunch in between ballgames yesterday. I had a wrap and a side salad. I could've gone for some french fries seeing as I just had yogurt for breakfast but I didn't. I did eat some nuts and dried fruit and I bought a bag of popcorn just in case I was hungry. I did break that open later and had a bit.

Today I think I'll just walk. I probably should just stick to walking until this hip feels better. It's not really bad except at night when I go and sit down. I slept better also. I did take a Melatonin though. The guys are going fishing this morning so I shouldn't have a problem getting out early.

It's a beautiful morning!

Have a wonderful day!

Becky

Becky, I am so jealous of your weather! It was so bad here this morning. 98% humidity and foggy. At first it felt cool and nice then it wasn't. I was soaked from head to toe. I ran with BFF and it was okay but certainly not great and we did walk some so my overall pace range was within the requirement for the training plan but I wasn't too happy about walking. We did my training plan and then did another three miles and that was mostly walking with a little running. Now the fog has burned off and it is going to get hot. I thought today the humidity would be down but now they are saying it will be Monday before that happens .

My DH wants to go to Nashville today to eat Nashville hot chicken. I am leery about going to Nashville and this particular place is always super busy, not sure how that is going to go - they do have a lot of outdoor seating but it might be too hot to sit out. I can't remember if Nashville is at 25% or 50% capacity for restaurants.

Gloria-Our weather was the same. They kept moving the temps up and the humidity was bad. We finally had storms over night and it's now 59 degrees outside. Beautiful. Only 80 today with a breeze.

I did lose 1 lb finally. It's the weekend and hopefully I won't put that 1 lb back on. We did eat out yesterday but I wanted soup so I could have a bar. I was very careful with what I ate prior to that. I kept yesterday a rest day. Unfortunately my leg bothered me last night. I didn't sleep well at all. I had a leg ache that went all the way down to my ankle. I don't think it's my hip. It could be but I think it may be sciatica. Hip pain usually only goes to the knee and I couldn't get comfortable for anything. This morning it's fine. Too bad I'm so tired now. I was going to go to the lake before the games this morning and work out but I may just get on the treadmill for a bit and leave the lake exercise for tomorrow. Hopefully I can sleep better tonight.

I was doing some reading about the hip and the injections. I guess you should go to physical therapy after you get the injections to help keep everything flexible. Makes sense. Do it when you're not in pain so your joints will move more freely. It helps the joints when the injection wears off too. My Dr. didn't say anything about that. I think before my next injection I'm going to request to see orthopedics. I'm hoping they can help me more on this.

Well, I better get moving here. I could really use a nap but I have dogs that are hungry and I need to get that workout in. The first softball game is at 10 this morning. It's going to be a long day!

Have a great Saturday!

Becky

Friday!!! I am not sure what this weekend holds for us. It is going to be around 88 tomorrow but humidity should be down a little. I hope so! Last time they predicted better weather it didn't really happen! In fact, this time it has already changed. They had been saying low 80s for highs and low 60s for lows, now it is mid to high 60s and mid to high 80s, but that will still be so much better than head index near 100 so I am going to be loving it so much, plus I want to enjoy the summer while it lasts because I just don't handle winter so well.

BFF wanted to go for a walk last night but then it stormed and we didn't go. I did do my strength training yesterday too. I need to look at my DVDs and see if there is something I can do that would be more structured. Today is a rest day.

Have a terrific day!

Good Friday Morning!

My run was hard also yesterday. It was much warmer than I thought it would be. The humidity was back. It wasn't a comfortable run or walk. We had a heat index of 95 and it was hot. It seems like August heat is always hotter for some reason. I didn't even go to the ball game last night. Even the breeze was hot. Today is going to pretty much be the same. There's another ball game tonight but we also have storms in the forecast. We'll see if the rain happens or not. It's suppose to bring in a cold front.

Next week looks to be another beautiful week with temps in the 70's and lows at night in the 50's. I usually run on Friday's but I'm thinking of not doing it today and getting out tomorrow morning. I have to be at the lake tomorrow morning anyway so maybe I'll get there a little earlier and exercise and then watch the game.

Have a great Friday!

Becky

Good Morning! Run day here. It was 100% humidity this morning so likely to be fog. I wasn't sure about running outside since we don't have sidewalks and I want to make sure I can be seen, but it turned out fine, around our neighborhood there really wasn't any fog. I thought my run was really hard this morning and I ended up walking a lot but I did stay overall in the pace range. Next week is supposed to be much less humid, I hope that makes a difference for me. But mostly it is the hills that are getting me right now. I am going to keep working at that. Not much else going on here! I might try to do my strength training earlier today. Usually I do it in the evening but I am not being very consistent yet - maybe getting in once or twice a week and that needs to increase for sure!!! Have a great day!

Good Morning!

I just walked the dogs yesterday and did things around the house. My son cut my moms grass while I did some weeding.

It's a warmer start this morning but I'm going to head down to the lake for my run/walk.

Have a nice day!

Becky
