Until the end of time - Danielle Steele 4 stars

Two love stories 40 years apart that are tied together. Perfect plane read. Started and finished on the flight and it made me tear up.

Winter Cottage by Mary Ellen Taylor - a story about Lucy whose mother has just died, and she has inherited a 'cottage' (really a large house!) so she moves from Nashville to the Virginia Shore, and meets people who used to know her mother. She is on a quest to learn who her father is and more about her mother's past. It's an interesting enough story, but not 'great literature' by any means. It's the sort of book to read quickly and just enjoy it for what it is. I gave it 3*.

--Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson (3*)
Woman jilted by lover is left with the diary his former wife wrote, to help her understand what he was unable to tell her. I gave this book more stars than I thought it deserved because it just isn't my genre, so my opinion based of how much I hated it is not the best indicator of how bad the book really is. All the protagonists are perfect, the plot gimmicky (who abandons his beloved's diary to someone he intends to never see again?), the sobs predictable, and everything ties up perfectly in a big pink bow. Stock plot, stock characters (just two Mary Sues and one Gary Stu), and sloppily, unrealistically, and gratuitously sentimental--if you loved Love Story, you'll love it. If you hated Love Story, skip it.

--The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale (5*)
Wow, what a great and very exciting story! If your kids, or you, love Tamara Pierce books then try this expanded fairy tale, written for tweens+. Based on Grimm's story, which I haven't read but should, a princess is promised in marriage to the prince of a large kingdom that threatens their border, but during the long, difficult journey between capitals, her escort is killed, all her possessions stolen, and the killer's girlfriend is substituted for her. The real princess escapes and has to earn her living, finding a job as a goose-keeper on the farm of her almost father-in-law, as the imposter lies to foment war in order to cover her tracks.
