I do love my alone time, actually I think I may love it to much. I have always been able to do simple repairs, my problem right now is undoing some of what my son "fixed". I retire in about 5 months, so I will have plenty of time to tackle one room at a time to undo some of what he has done, figure out what I can not tackle and then make a list of what needs to be done in each room. What has to be done to sell the house and if I am going to sell it what can let go for the next owners.

Does that sound bad????? Well, some things I guess are preference things.

I love my alone time. I am not sure I could go back to "sharing." LOL

But I have learned repairs are not as hard I thought they would be.

I still sleep on my own side, but I did switch sides.

I am learning to cook for one now, my son has finally moved out and my daughter is not home a lot of evenings. This is a strange thing for me. First I came from a family of 6, so I was used to cooking for a large group. Even after I got married, I continued to cook for 6 and we enjoyed left overs, I enjoyed only the need to heat a meal. Now it seems a bit silly to cook for 6 when I am one or two of us. We prepared spag sauce like normal, well all I can say is, if I am to cook that much, I will need to get more freezer space and containers to put the sauce in, it lasted forever.

I am also being more creative with veggies, if it does not taste good, I only have my own opinion to worry about and my own taste to say hey, don't do that again. Sort of fun.

I still do not like NOT having someone to bounce ideas off when I want to change something around the house. Sure I can do what ever I want, but I want feedback, how do they think it will look, or does look after I have moved things around. OR NOT Having someone to help with the big chores. Husband, or at least mine are good for those things.

I have learned how to support myself and three children (and two dogs) financially (whoop, whoop), how to inch myself into the middle of the queen sized bed (after sleeping on less than one side for 22 years)........
how to make plans for vacations to where I want to go and to go to concerts that I want to go to and
to respect myself, imperfections and all

Well. that is my problem, most of my things I like to do are by myself things, but I totally understand what you are saying and I will take it to heart and figure out some new hobby or interest that will get me out of the house. Thanks.

Dot, write down things you enjoy doing then join a group (outside of the Internet) and meet some people with similar interests. Another option is to join a volunteer group about something you are passionate about. Praying you will get out and meet new people! Feel free to email me here if I can help!

I don't think I would mind being single IF I had a bunch of friends that I could do things with, but my husband was my best friend and when he went in the military what few friends I had in our town seemed to have disappeared. Most of my close friends live in different cities, states, or even countries, but none in the same city as me.

I guess when we moved back to our home town, they had moved on and we did not fit in. So lonely is my big problem and where I work friendships is not possible.

I don't have that much, but I do have a very large yard, with two horrible trees in the front that I will have to just bite the bullet and have taken down. Right now my son does not mind to come home to deal with the grass, but getting him to chop the weed trees that grow thru the fence from the neighbor who takes care of nothing on their property, well he balks at that and I do not blame him in the least, but once it grows thru the fence it is my yard that looks ugly and so each year I deal with it. Last year we did not get to it as much because my mother died at the end of the growing season and we were busy clearing out her house, so this year it is worse. The year before we put out 25 lawn bags of branches and that does not include what we burned. So, tonight I start with the chopping it down so he can come and bag it for me as I have arranged for a bulk trash pick up this Friday.

I also have a 22-year-old son who has helped me with so many things but handy we are not. So if something gets damaged or broke, we are presented with a challenge. RIght now, he has a chicken coop that needs to be replaced before it collapses on the chickens. The lawn I have had the neighbor do the majority of (we have about 4 acres to mow). After my husband left me, I lost interest in almost everything that had to do with the house and property. I am just (after 2.5 years) getting back on my feet again and getting some of that motivation back.

Well. I have learned since I've been blessedly single , that I can do most everything around here .
and that I don't have to put up with abuse from anyone

I am starting a journey , I want to find myself ,find my courage , find the person , I know I am and I was meant to be , I want to walk everyday free of pain and shame and I want to feel good without this extra skin , extra weight ,or this folds of skin that sweat like crazy , I want to smile more and set small goals and reach them , it is time to stop been afraid of my weight , and how I look and feel, I know I can do it and I know I will do it by next year I will be a smaller version of me .

Well, I have depended on my now 22 yr old son to do the outside things since my husband died, but he is getting ready to move out, so all those outside things that I have not had to do I will be having to do now, except I can not cut the grass, I am allergic so he will have to come home for that or I will have to hire someone. I just wish he would have kept the yard in good shape so I did not have to get caught up. But I can do this.

I have no choice, I have to as eventually I want to sell the house and I must keep the entire house in condition to sell both inside and out.

I am no stranger to handyman tools so I can do this.

Duh, if they can't make it through a hangnail, giving birth would definitely be out of the question LOL (unless perhaps you are Caitlyn Jenner being how courageous and all he/she is) (last part was sarcasm just in case anybody was wondering. . . ) emoticon

Amazing what we learn we can do without them when we have to. Not that we ever thought we could not, but how many men can do what we can do????

I would like to see them try to birth a baby!!!!!! haha, they would never make it thru the labor pains.

Since hubby has left to go live with his girlfriend, I have found that I can start a weed whacker, start a rototiller and do my garden, and do billing online.
