you're good. i love the way you translate you're feelings for the card into a recipe.

corrine and i have very different recipes for the same card. i like to compare our way of thinking. i am so glad you are willing to help me.

For the ace of cups, I am thinking of a sparkling champagne punch. The liquid is akin to water which represents the emotions, especially intimacy and love. I only drink champagne punch when I am with close friends in an intimate setting. During these times, we are usually open and receptive and often talk of personal things. It is the sharing and love that I associate with this drink that make me draw this connection.

I've seen those cards in the box but have not seen them individually. Are the recipes any good? I was worried about using them because of their large size. Would it be helpful if you had other cards and recipe suggestions? I'll keep thinking but I can't force it - ideas tend to come to me in their own time.

Hi Maysha,

I think this is a fascinating topic that I have never given any consideration to. I was looking at the Temperance card and I was thinking of making whipped cream (the real stuff!!). This is in part because of the light, etherial texture of the end product but also as a result of the implied temperance, balance, and combining of forces. If you do not beat enough, it is liquid. If you beat it too much, you get butter. By introducing just enough air into the mixture as well as vanilla and sugar, you create a beautiful union that is very simply done but perfect in every way.

Hi Maysha,

My response was partly tongue in cheek, based only on the title of the cake. I've actually never made one, but could look up a recipe on the web.

What an interesting idea. I'll have to give this some thought. Do you want us to only base our food associations on traditional Rider Waite Smith imagery?

Never mind. I think you already said you do. I'll see if I can come up with some ideas.

Although my first thought is upside down cake for the Hanged Man. ;)

I need some help. I am writing a thesis about tarot and food.
I need people who are willing to pick major arcana card, study the picture and start cooking.
Please let me know what recipe came into you mind and why.
I work with the Rider Waits cards only so I can compare the recipes with the recipes from Corrine Kenner.
The Fool represents to me not only a fool but also a hero and rebel. You have to be in order to start the journey. Corrine comes up with Caramelized nut because the Fool doesn’t mind to look a little nut. I came up with pumpkin muffins because pumpkins and Halloween. There are also nutty pumpkins carved.
I really hope that some of you will enjoy doing this.
