Hi there,
Sorry to hear you're sick, tell me about it, I've been sick since Valentines Day! It's strange how one day you're well and the next without warning or even being around anybody who's sick, you become sick. Mine is only a cold, but it's damn annoying. I had the full-blown flu earlier in the season and that was horrible!!! My immune system is shot! Anyway, it's nice for your daughter and you to have time together at something she loves, and the exercise is great for her. What does she do on the off season? My son, who is 30 now, was a soccer star and we went all over the place with him. He even went to Europe and played there and he got a full scholarship to a private college to play for them. Now with work and everyday life, he can no longer play soccer, so he body builds and weight lifts because he said he needs to compete, even if it's with himself. The "brat" only has 7 pounds of fat on his whole body!!! I still go and see him compete when he's doing that, however he's going to go to a lift in Ohio in March which I can't go to and it kills me. Believe me, enjoy the time with your daughter because it goes quickly and then you miss that time terribly. Have fun and I hope you're feeling better soon.
Chez.

Hello. Well I was wrong... hockey isn't going out just yet. We have a few more practices then states, then if we win there regionals. Crazy, huh? It is such a long season, but my daughter loves it a lot. It's good exercise for her too. So I can't complain there. This past week I have been so tired. I think I am fighting off a mild sickness, my nose stuffy, tired, etc. Today we ate cooking a turkey. It should be good. I bought 2 oranges to stuff it with. The oranges are awesome! Gives it a nice flavor! I hope your day goes well! Jen

Hi there. My user name does not mean I have a 6 year old at home, it means I have 6 cats and actually I now have 7 cats! My son is 30! I do dance though, tap and belly dancing. In inclement weather i do videos etc. I continue to do this and continue to lose weight and gain muscle. I will enter my weight in the spark tracker tomorrow and hope that I've moved the scale. Take care. Chez.

I would highly recommend trying a dance program at home and having your 5 year old join you. My 5 and 7 year old LOVE doing hip hop dance videos and also sweating to the oldies. PLUS I can multi-task with time with kids and exercise in one =)
All the best,
Amanda

LDAVIS,
I know what you mean about being self conscious being watched! I always make my two kids (ages 5 and 7) get up and do the video with me. They actually really like doing this and think it is so funny to crash around ect! This past weekend we played a Dance game on the Xbox and it allowed 4 people to be standing up dancing at once. That was awesome as the kids and hubby all joined in. We did a MEAN version of a 1Direction song (meaning we looked the uncoordinated fools but had FUN!
All the best,
Amanda

Hello All,

I wanted to share that I have become a fan of random acts of exercise! I do squats, wall pushups, calf raises ect in between meetings in my office. I can't do any of the floor ones as lying on the office floor would NOT be a good impression to clients BUT I did my an exercise band and use that in the office to work on upper body =) It is so satisfying to check off the reps and sets in my dayplanner as I squeeze then in during the day!

Hi there,
There are some great videos out there, including belly dancing videos, but Spark has a lot of videos and a brand new one that WalMart is carrying. I want to buy that one, it looks interesting. I have never done one of Sparks videos, but I'll bet they're fun. And I know what you mean about being watched, I wouldn't want my husband to watch me either, although I opened up the other day and did a choreographed belly dance for him and he was quite impressed. Whatever exercise you do, make sure it's fun for you or you won't do it. Drink water throughout also for your muscles or you'll get cramps. Take care.
Chez.

Hey, i'll have to see about checking out some videos online or something. I can't afford actual classes. Sounds good though, i'd feel really odd doing it even at home with only my kid watching much less in a group of people. lol.

Hi there!
Oh my goodness, it's so funny that you wrote to me now. It's 3:35 and I just got home from a belly dancing class! They are great fun and a hell of a work out! It works the "core" muscles and then you isolate every muscle in your body with different movements. My class uses veils so we get good arm muscle work outs and "coin skirts" to shimmy our hips with so we get a good hip and thigh work out. But, we really use every muscle and it is a lot of fun. You should try it. Take care.

I'm super new to the sparkpeople world and happened upon this team. I read a few of the posts on this thread and I'm interested in the belly dancing. Chezcats6 how much does it cost? I'm a sahm of a active 5 yr old girl. I've been curious about how belly dancing works as exercise, can you relay any information to me please? :)

Hi Buddy,
I'm wallowing though the day with all this rain we're getting. On the way to belly dancing I couldn't pick my feet up high enough to not go sloshing through the rain and slush. I did well at belly dancing, although my back and stomach hurt a bit. I think that's from my fall because belly dancing is all fluid moves and you never make jerky movements so I think I was alright to dance. But getting home I began to feel stiff and now I have a sore butt, stomach and knees because you really have to use your knees a lot. Oh well, I'll survive, always have. Take care. Chez.

Didn't lose power but there were a lot of people that did. Ruined a lot of trees too. I have a Schipperke/Pom mix. He is getting older but such a wonderful companion. He likes to bark at shadows, so I say "its ok" and that kind of calms him down. He is a little less than 10 pounds. My man, as I call him!! LOVE HIM LOTS!!

Oh my goodness! Did you lose your power? I don't know if I could bare to live where you are with that kind of weather! I was originally from Buffalo New York, and we got snow because of the blizzard belt effect from Lake Eire, but not ice. Ice is so much scarier! I went to the store the other day with my husband and got out of the truck in the driveway and had both feet on the ground then the next thing I know I was flying in the air and landed on my butt and back and I had the presence of mind some how to keep my head from hitting the ground. I've already had a concussion this past year, I don't need another one, and I couldn't believe I had stepped out on to a patch of black ice and down I went. I have a big bruise on my butt and hip and of course my pride because it was Saturday and the mail man saw me and a whole other bunch of people who were out shopping, etc. But, we're getting rain now and the parking lot is down to tar and I shouldn't have that worry any more. I'll be thinking of you tonight and hope everything goes well for you. By the way, what kind of dog do you have? It is times like this that I'm glad I don't have a dog (I can't have one in this apartment building) but I would love to have one. Anyway, have a good day. I'm off to belly dancing!!!

Hello chez! We have had an ice storm. Temps way below zero while you were getting your snow,(I think I heard that) . We did get some snow but there were others that got really dumped on!!! I'm thankful it could've been a lot worse. Currently we are getting rain, then it will freeze with the below zero temps we will be getting tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday. We'll be looking forward to more ice build up. I can already barely bring out my dog. Due to the ice.

I see you live in Vermont. How did you fare in the last snow storm? I live on the sea and we still got around 8 inches of snow! That's a lot for us! It's also been very gray and foggy here for days and raining and since my main way of getting exercise is to walk, I haven't been able to get out of the house. So, I have stairs, I live on the second floor of an apartment building, that I walk up and down a couple of times a day, and I walk my hallway in my house, 3 times a day for 10 minutes a day. At least that's some form of exercise. On Mondays, I take belly dancing lessons (which I absolutely love!!!) and on Wednesdays I go to a tap dance lesson for an hour and then after that another belly dancing lesson. So, I do get some exercise even when I can't walk outside. I hate the gym so I had to find other forms of exercise and I enjoy everything I do now. You know what they say, "if you don't like it you won't stick to it" and I think that is definitely true. Anyway, I'm babbling and keeping you from something, so I'll let you go. Have a good day and take care.
Chez.

I know! There just isn't the team participation there used to be... they were talking about it on the general team leaders team. But hopefully we'll get some people at least.

Hello Buddy Team! Yesterday was a bad day for me nutritionally speaking! I overate. Big Time! Anyway, I think I am either working out too much, or not eating enough. I don't really know, but I really want to find out. I felt like my body needed all of those pizza rolls. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't. But now that it is over and done with I am ready to move on.

Today I have to bring my kiddo to school and then I will workout. I have 2 sessions I will do. 1-30 Day Shred. And 2-Hip Hop Abs. I can't wait! I hope you all are having a healthy new year! Jen
