I felt very uplifted by this from Daily73
“Everyone needs a blessing. We all need to be encouraged, edified, complimented, and appreciated. And you have the ability to bless others. Be thankful that God not only blesses you, but that He has made you a blessing. We all get weary at times and need other people to let us know that we are valuable and appreciated. ”
I truly believe this and try my best to follow through. Even on the most challenging days it helps my day go better when I do something for someone else.

I get Upper Room devotions in my email. Today's was so especially beautiful, I am moved to post it here. I hope that's all right.

AND GOD IS the greatest and best mystery of all, for all of reality springs from God, was created by God, is held safe in God, and
will be completed in God. Julian of Norwich affirms that all things are in God and God is in all things. There is no place not filled with
God, nor any person either, and we have done nothing to make this happen. We live in a universe of God’s grace whether we know
it or not and whether we want it or not.

—Roberta C. Bondi, Wild Things: Poems of Grief and Love, Loss and Gratitude (Upper Room Books, 2014)

Creator God, As you draw us closer to you, draw us closer to each other. In Jesus's name, Amen.

“And one called to another and said:
‘Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory.’”
—Isaiah 6:3 (NRSV)

Blessed to Be a Blessing
Adapted from the resource The Power of Being Thankful Devotional - by Joyce Meyer

Everyone needs a blessing. We all need to be encouraged, edified, complimented, and appreciated. And you have the ability to bless others. Be thankful that God not only blesses you, but that He has made you a blessing. We all get weary at times and need other people to let us know that we are valuable and appreciated.

I believe God blesses us so we can be a blessing—not only in a few places but everywhere we go. Look for people who are needy and bless them. Share what you have with those who are less fortunate than you are. And remember, everyone needs a blessing—even the successful people who appear to have everything.

When you live to meet needs and encourage those around you, you will find “joy unspeakable” in the process (see 1 Peter 1:8).

Prayer Starter: Father, I am so grateful for Your blessings in my life, and I am also grateful that You have enabled me to be a blessing. Help me reach out to others every day and focus on adding to their encouragement. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Hebrews 1:8 (God the Father speaking) But of the SON HE says, Thy THRONE, O God is FOREVER AND EVER, AND THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTER IS THE SCEPTER OF HIS KINDGOM.
(These were capitalized in my Bible)

What a powerful statement. Read all the first chapter for a blessing.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all thing through Christ which strengthens me.

Do we really believe that or going on attempting things in our own flesh? I am guilty of doing things like that from time to time. …...fall flat on my face...…..it is when I bow on the knees of my heart that I feel His strengthen to push on. Oh how lately I have been blessed in His strength.

I finished the book by Jenkins it was a hard read because God put the woman through the ringer . She was turned out of her home after her father died by her aunt; who paid her very little for the house and then sold it to a family for 4 times as much. She got married and ended up outliving her whole family because of illnesses or an accident. Yet in the end she still held onto her faith in God.

I have been reading about walking with God through suffering and pain. It brings to mind and conversation with my wife about my prayer in the Fall of 2008 for God to break me.

God is still answering that prayer. Our world is still upside down from that, yet we can only treasure the fact that there is a balm in Gilead if we use that balm on our wounds and injuries.

So my reading has gone into slower mode, and my examining myself before God, my wife, and my family is going slow and sure. Real progress must be done on God's schedule, according to God's priority list, and God has Eternity to make us look more like Jesus. I hope for shortcuts, but aside from a few instances I've never seen them.

Consider that Lazarus died and was raised from the dead by Jesus. But Lazarus had to die again later on. Our hope is not the cessation of trouble, but in successfully living in the midst of it.

In my opinion.

I'm not even near perfect, but I know someone who is.

Reading a book by Jerry Jenkins a fictional book about a girl who decides to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. I think it is called, :Where None Would Follow"

Also reading a book about fear that has stories in it from other people that conquered their fears. I will write the name of it down tomorrow. Both are very good books; the fear one I read once before.

Still reading Psalms 119 and the book on Taming The Tongue. I just read one small chapter at a time. We have to be careful what we tell people about someone else. If we are really warning them for the sake of protecting them or for other reasons. I know I warned someone last year about this woman on the van because i knew her longer than the new person did. I knew what she was really like and i did not want the other lady to get hurt; unfortunately I was too late. The other woman had already talked to her and told her some lies and later tried to say she did not remember certain incidents at all.In the end both me, Jenny and the other woman were hurt by this woman.

Sure enjoyed and agreed with what you just wrote.

I love reading books by the late Renald Showers. The Most High God is a commentary he wrote about the book of Daniel. He explains things so well with much historical background.

I love how Daniel and his faithful 3 Hebrew friends were so devoted and faithful to God. They never made excuses nor tried to rationalize why they did not need to obey God while in captivity.
The choices they made gave God opportunity many times to show his sovereignty to the Gentile Kingdoms of which they were under.

We too are living in a world so full of darkness. If we live faithfully by God standards, our obedience yields opportunities for God to show our friends and community more of himself.

Praise be to our Almighty, Awesome God. May the world take note and receive him while there is time to do so. May we as Christians live today as if it were the day of the Rapture.

In reading Timothy Keller's book "Counterfeit gods", I marveled at the extent of human failure in not only having the "Me Kingdom", but in all the ways we humans replace our required submission to God in all things. For example, not only Abraham but Issac, and then Jacob, and even Rachel; I hadn't expected what Leah finally triumphed by faith of God. Jonah, as the hyper-nationalist regarding his nation under a horrible King, being called to Nineveh but fighting right to the end of the Scripture account being more concerned of his own sunburn than of loving like God loves. But Jonah triumphed in submission, and although it isn't clear in Scripture the fact that he went back and told/wrote his account and it is Scripture proves he gave up his bigotry. I'm afraid many Christians, myself included, need to address our bigotries (and note I am using that word specifically, not merely talking about racism which is a subset of bigotry/prejudice).

I also am enjoying reading a series of books through the OverDrive account at my library - ebooks read on my LG phone's web browser - author Robert Whitlow has written a set of Christian fiction books that are about real spiritual issues Christians face living in this messed up world. I also appreciate that it was more than skin-deep about Christianity and our need to learn more about being faithful to God, to be in awe of God and not other people or ourselves.

I have found myself being encouraged about stepping out of my hermitage as God allows doors to open here in my local community. I trust I am "not walking backwards down the stairs, trying to get higher" (in the words of Larry Norman's song about discipleship).

Peace to you. Thanks to all who are sharing here in this thread.

I love reading about these 3 young men who loved and obeyed God even when it could mean their death. What a miracle! This is taken from chapter 3 of Daniel.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are figures from chapter 3 of the Book of Daniel, three Hebrew men thrown into a fiery furnace by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, when they refuse to bow down to the king's image; the three are preserved from harm and the king sees four men walking in the flames, "the fourth... like a son of God".

Sounds, like a great book, Gralan.
About the last message was the one that took place in the vineyard, found in John 15.

Making Sense of God
by Timothy Keller

regarding the Bible, I last read Isaiah one and Luke 6.

I have no idea what some take away as the last lesson, but in Gethsemane Jesus told them to "watch and pray". After that he was arrested.

Right now i am reading 30 Day To Taming Your Tongue by Deborah Smith Pegues. It goes into all the sins we commit with out tongues. Like telling lies, half truths, boasting, belittling, gossiping and more. It takes each one and does it day by day and not all together.. I think I have to restart it over since I read through some chapters without thinking it over. Although I do not agree with some of her beliefs about things like if we lie as believers we will end up in hell.

Secrets of the Vine is another wonderful book.

A few hours before Jesus went to the cross, what do you think he taught the disciples as his last lesson. You may be surprised!

Experiencing the Cross by Henry Blackaby is an awesome book. Last week while in the Amish country in the New England States, I found this book and a study guide at a yard sale.
Oh my goodness, how it touched my life. I knew my Lord and Savior died a horrible death on the cross suffering in such anguish as he bear my sins and that of all people of all time. Yet, I cried like a baby when Blackaby described the deepest of all suffering while Jesus suffered total rejection, loneliness, and homelessness from the presence of the Father as he became sin for us. Jesus had never known anything but unity with the Father until that time upon the cross.
I cannot praise the Heavenly Father enough for such love.....amazing love. I cannot praise my Lord and Savior enough to go through all of this for me. Oh how we need to praise our Lord and Savior, Our High Priest who sits at the right hand of the Father today; making intercession for us.

If you haven't read this book, maybe you can find an inexpensive one on Amazon. com.

I heard the song for the first time today..brought me to tears to realize God knows us and yet still loves us..people judge us without knowing where or what we have been through. Coming from a family where I was not wanted or accepted.. to know I serve a God who loves me just as I am and willing to help me be all I can be in him...there are no words as to that means to me

The pain passes ~ only the beauty remains...
